It was just my opinion about the language translation issues, what do you want me to say? I was wrong? Ok, I was wrong, you are all correct and even me who has studied arabic for 5 years, I am wrong, because you surely know more than the arab and the person who has studied arabic about language issues. I raised the point because I have had to study several languages throughout my life and I speak 2 fluently, and can read and write another two to an extent, and I am aware of problems that arise from translation. I am not a language authority however, and I don’t really care whether I was wrong about the language issue, this isn’t some dialectical argument.
You may have studied the language - and thus your opinion is coloured by how difficult YOU found the language.

I’ve studed language teaching and know that, by having taught Arabic-speaking people English that with the right programmes it can change how difficult it seems.

The argument comes from your objection based on spurrious notions about the nature of Arabic as a language compared to all other languages - that it itself poses special problems for translators.

This is simply false as shown by the points I made earlier
a) Arabs trade every day globally - interaction is a working progress - that works
and
b) Experts in the language - who probably know it better than you, choose the words

I apologize, you are correct my approach was wrong. It was not meant to imply you are a heretic, but that claims may be heretical in nature. But again it would have been better not use those words and instead explain the error or my understanding of an error. I think i understand what you were trying to say, but it is good you agree that the Bible, as stated in the Encyclical, is error free. Peace.
May God Bless you.🙂
No worries dude, I got your PM anyways, all’s good. 👍

Just some misunderstandings and I overreacted too.

God Bless

Ok, good, now that you’ve established your profound knowledge can we move on.

I’d like to but you’re sooo sarcastic.
With that statement yes, but I do not wish to keep arguing over the matter, because I don’t really care about it. Infact instead of whining about it now, I’ll just stop responding to this altogether, so the thread can get back to the main point.

Cool, 'cause there’s heaps of errors. But Meedo made the point first (on this thread) about not being able to properly translate the Koran.

A classic error in the Koran is where the ‘voice’ changes from Al-lah speaking, to Muhammed. This is because the Koran’s supposed to be the direct word of their god, with nothing added. And yet Muhammed speaks in the first person. And he calls for us to pray to Al-lah.

It’s a dead-giveaway clue as to who the *real *author of the Koran is.

Still, not a single Muslim has addressed any of the points I made earlier. I would like them to explain it. I am not attacking the validity of the Koran or even the translation. (Even though I find it ridiculous that Arabic cannot be translated into English. That is a very weak argument in my opinion.) I use the Koran as it is written to make a point.

Also, I don’t know if it is there or not, but if it is please cite the Sura and verses for me, where in the Koran does it say that Christians and Jews have a corrupted holy book?

Here is what the Koran says:

“O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: Nor say of God aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) an apostle of God, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in God and His apostles. Say not “Trinity” : desist: it will be better for you: for God is one God: Glory be to Him: (far exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is God as a Disposer of affairs.” (Koran 4:171)

“They do blaspheme who say: God is one of three in a Trinity: for there is no god except One God. If they desist not from their word (of blasphemy), verily a grievous penalty will befall the blasphemers among them.” (Koran 5:73)

Its screwed up the oly Trinity by putting mary in there instead of Holy Spirit.
I have adressed this point that you made and you just completely ignored me . Its not muslims fault then !!!. I will go on more for you below !!

The Koran also contradicts itself many times as shown:

To the Muslim, Jesus Christ is merely one of the many prophets of Allah (Sura: 4:171; 5:74). According to Islam, the prophet Muhammad supersedes Jesus Christ. Islam says Jesus Christ is not the Son of God or part of any Trinity (Sura 5:17; 5:116; 19:35). We are told by Islam that Jesus was the Messiah (Sura 3:45; 4:157; 171), but nothing but a slave on whom God showed favor (Sura 43:59); yet elsewhere in the Qur’an we are told the Messiah is not a slave (Sura 4:172). .
The Only contradiction that you mention in the above was that the Quran states that jesus is the slave of God and rthen in surah 4:172 contradicts itself .

Simply the Quran states in 4:172 that

‘‘the messiah nor the high ranking Angels would find it demeaning for any of them to be the slave of Allah or his worshippers, and whoever finds it in himself the pride to break his worship and servitute for Allah then he will drive them all towards him for accounting on judgement day’’

the verse doesnt say that jesus isnt teh slave of Allah. It simply saying that in teh hypothetical case that they turn to be , they will have a severe punishment
The Qur’an tells us that Jesus Christ did not atone for anyone’s sins, although he was himself sinless (Sura 3:46) and is one of those who are near to God (Sura 3:45). .
No contradiction here sir. So is the angels they are sinless and they cant atone for any ones sin.

These are all repeated stuff that depends on people bieng lazy enough not reading teh Quran for themselves .

You might think this, but Moslems have been commentating that it’s the Trinity for centuries…

Q: Iv) According to Qur’an and earlier commentaries, the Christian Trinity consists of God, Mary and Jesus, e.g. 5:116.
A: (d) There were and there are such Christian denominations who include Mary in God head. As they are lesser in number, Qur’an mentioned them. But on other occasions, when the Qur’an denounces Trinity, the statement is applicable to all those who practice any kind of Trinity in the worship of God. The following verse may include even thou who believe in the Trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, professing God-head for them.
islamicvoice.com/april.98/OURD.HTM
Remember this is AFTER the Trinity was affirmed, and as I claimed earlier, Muhammad got his idea from heretical Christians and he simply assumed that they were representative of all Christians.
But there’s more…
From elsewhere on the same site…
“As for erroneous Christian concepts, the Qur’an speaks of the Christian belief in the trinity and their claim that Jesus, son of Mary, was Allah Himself. They also attribute divinity to Jesus and his mother, considering them gods. They also consider their priests and monks to have divine authority.”
islamicvoice.com/february.98/SPEA.HTM

This site then makes the laughable attempt at re-writing Christian dogma, to state that when Muhammed stated this, Christians had this as the Trinity, but we later changed it!
It ends with this…
“So, in conclusion, there is no point calling the modern day trinitarian Christianity as ‘true’ Christianity and all others as ‘false’ since the evolution of this doctrine itself is very late. The early Christianity had bizarre beliefs about their doctrine as well as their Scriptures. Moreover the Jesus(P) and early Church Fathers were utterly unaware of this doctrine and they never practiced it. Would then the modern day ‘true’ Christianity brand them as heretics?” (Ibid)
That regardless of which “Trinity” Christians now believe in, it’s still condemned.
Here’s another spin; that by default of honouring Mary as the Theotokos (Mother of God) we make here a member of the Trinity, instead of the Holy Spirit…
" The obvious conclusion is that for all practical purpose and in reality, when the issue is of Worshipping, Venerating, Deifying and/or Idolizing, it is Mary - the “Mother of God” and not the Holy Ghost has that kind of rank and status. Briefly, the historical figures of Jesus and Mary are venerated as Deities. The Holy Ghost is not venerated as a Deity."

Sorry sir, but you are refering me to a site who is refeering to something he doesnt site of any sources . The simple fact is that The Quran doesnt establish what the trinity is . Infact the Quran denounces any form of trinity whatever it may take. And as for the devinity of Marty, teh definition of actions that would be suitable for the devine is broader with muslims than with Christians. If you call on Mary to help you that according to islam is making her partially devine and thus consiidered idolatry.

There is nothing wrong or contradictory i the Quran and the Quran doesnt really care to establish your trinity for you. the reference of mary ín that sense is a reference to another problem apart from the trinity concept, which is the problem of attributing Godly powers to humans.

He is my source. I don’t need to cite sources that name sources that name sources, etc. It’s an Islmaic expert opinion site. Your quibble should be taken up with him.
. The simple fact is that The Quran doesnt establish what the trinity is . Infact the Quran denounces any form of trinity whatever it may take.
Then that’s you refuting yourself in two sentences.
The Koran sites what it thinks the Trinity is, and say don’t believe in it.
It states that Christians take two other gods besides God, Jesus and Mary.
Excatly. And we don’t take Mary as a God besides Jesus and God (the Father). The Koran is wrong.

Asides from the sources already cited above
"Question :
If true Christianity brought the message of the Oneness of God (Tawheed), and stated that He alone is to be worshipped to the exclusion of anyone else in His creation, whether that is ‘Eesa (Jesus) or anyone else, then how did this religion become mixed with polytheistic beliefs (shirk) and how did they take ‘Eesa (Jesus – peace be upon him) and his mother as gods besides Allaah?.
Answer…When Christianity conquered Rome, the new religion (i.e., Christianity) was infused with the blood of the old idolatrous religion: the title of archbishop, worship for the great mother, and an innumerable number of lords who gave peace of mind and were like who exist in all places and cannot be detected with the senses. All of this came into Christianity as the blood of the mother comes into her child.

Ibn Abbas, an early Muslim scholar said, what is meant by the Trinity is God the most high, His consort and His son’.[1] Some later commentators saw the Trinity as `God, Mary, and Jesus’.[2] This understanding is based on the Qur’an (see Q. 5:72-75 & 116)
answering-islam.org/Mna/trinity.html
Beidhawi [685 AH] (on 4:169) remarks: “Jesus is called the Spirit of God because He makes the dead to live or quickens hearts.” On the following verse he is doubtful; “Either God is the third of three gods or is a triad of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.” (Vol. I., p. 319.) He, too, avoids a real explanation of the gross misstatement in the Koran that Mary is one of the persons of the Trinity. The Jilalain [864-911] (Vol. I., p. 278) prove that Jesus cannot be God, “because He has a spirit and everything possessed of a spirit is compounded (murakkib), and God is absolutely without compounding, arrangement (tarkib), i.e.) simple.” He says the Trinity consists of “Allah and Jesus and His mother.”

Al-Qurtuby and al-Jalalayn also saw this.
“The passage of the Qur’an which suggests that the Trinity consists of Father, Son, and Virgin Mary is doubtless a criticism of some nominally Christian Arabs who held this view.” (Muhammad at Mecca, W. Montgomery Watt, 1953, p 23-29)
“In rude misconception or wilful perversion, Mohammed seems to have understood the Christian doctrine of the trinity to be a trinity of Father, Mary, and Jesus. The Holy Spirit is identified with Gabriel. “God is only one God! Far be it from his glory that he should have a son!” Sura 4, ver. 169; comp. 5, ver. 77. The designation and worship of Mary as “the mother of God” may have occasioned this strange mistake. There was in Arabia in the fourth century a sect of fanatical women called Collyridians, who rendered divine worship to Mary. Epiphanius, Haer. 79.” (Philip Schaff, History of the Christian church, Vol 4, Ch 3)
The Qur’an shows that there was little knowledge in Mecca of the New Testament apart from the story of the virginal conception of Jesus (19.16-21). On the other hand several mistaken ideas about Christianity appear to have been current among the Meccans. They supposed that Christians worshipped three gods, taking both Jesus and Mary as gods. (Muhammad’s Mecca, W. Montgomery Watt, Chapter 3: Religion In Pre-Islamic Arabia, p26-45)
“The Qur’an here denounces the idea of a Triad of Gods, consisting of God, Jesus and Mary. Christians have never believed in this Triad. It is only too true that many ignorant “Christians” in Muhammad’s time worshipped Mary (as some still do), asking her to intercede with her Son for them, and the early Muhammadans may hence have fancied that belief in three separate Gods, of which Mary was one, was what was meant by the doctrine of the Trinity. But such an idea was wrong and of heathen origin.” (A Manual of the Leading Muhammadan Objections to Christianity. W. St. Clair Tisdall, 1904, p 147)
These passages leave no doubt that Mohammed denied the doctrine of the Trinity and that he conceived it to be, or affirmed it to be, a species of tritheism consisting of God, Mary and Jesus Christ. [Whether Mohammed had a correct idea of the Trinity and deliberately put forth this travesty of the Christian idea, we will consider later.] The commentaries interpret the Koran as follows: Zamakhshari on 4:169 remarks, “The story received among Christians is that God is one in essence and three persons, (akanim) the person of the Father, the person of the Son and the person of the Holy Spirit. And they verily mean by the person of the Father, the Being, and by the person of the Son, knowledge, and by the person of the Holy Spirit, life. And this supposes that God is the third of three, or, if not, that there are three gods. And that which the Koran here refers to is the clear statement of theirs, that God and Christ and Mary are three gods and that the Christ is a child (walad) of God from Mary.” For proof he then quotes Surah 5:116, and adds: “And it is universally known concerning Christians that they hold the deity and humanity of Christ as regards his father and mother.” From this it is evident that Zamakhshari had a more correct idea of the doctrine of the Trinity than did Mohammed and that after offering a modal trinity as the creed of Christians he covers up the Koran mistake by asserting, without proof, that the trinity was a triad of Father, Son and Mother. (Vol. I. of the Kishaf, p. 241.) Beidhawi (on 4:169) remarks: “Jesus is called the Spirit of God because He makes the dead to live or quickens hearts.” On the following verse he is doubtful; “Either God is the third of three gods or is a triad of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.” (Vol. I., p. 319.) He, too, avoids a real explanation of the gross misstatement in the Koran that Mary is one of the persons of the Trinity. The Jilalain (Vol. I., p. 278) prove that Jesus cannot be God, “because He has a spirit and everything possessed of a spirit is compounded (murakkib and God is absolutely without compounding, arrangement (tarkib), i.e., simple.” He says the Trinity consists of “Allah and Jesus and His mother.” (The Moslem Doctrine Of God, Samuel M. Zwemer, 1905, p 80)

It is interesting to note that the charges against Christians of looking upon the Virgin Mary as the third person of the Trinity is made in the last of all the Suras:- O Jesus, Son of Mary, hast thou said unto mankind 'Take me and my mother as two Gods beside God? ’ He shall say: ‘Glory be unto Thee! it is not for me to say that which I know to be not the truth.’ Sura Al-Ma’idah (v) 116. Whether Muhammad knew better or not is uncertain, but, however that may be, this is his parting accusation. He could have ascertained the true facts of the case, for on Christian monuments found by Dr. B. Glaser in Yemen, the Sirwah inscription opens with the words, ‘In the power of the all-Merciful and His Messiah and the Holy Ghost.’ (Zwemer, Islam, p. 21.) To say the least, Muhammad here made a serious mistake, which it is difficult to reconcile with the verbal inspiration of the Qur’an. (The Historical Development Of The Qur’an, Edward Sell, 1869-1932, p 172)

And as for the devinity of Mary, teh definition of actions that would be suitable for the devine is broader with muslims than with Christians. If you call on Mary to help you that according to islam is making her partially devine and thus consiidered idolatry.
That doesn’t matter. You may think we’re a false religion in idolising Mary, but you can’t also say we’re a false religion in making Mary part of the Trinity, when we don’t. And that’s the point of this mistake in the Koran. Muhammed knew that some Christians did do this, but mistook all Christians for doing this, even though we had settled amongst ourselves what the Trinity is.

It doesn’t matter whether you believe it or nor - its whether we believe it or not.
There is nothing wrong or contradictory i the Quran and the Quran doesnt really care to establish your trinity for you. the reference of mary ín that sense is a reference to another problem apart from the trinity concept, which is the problem of attributing Godly powers to humans.
Not according to my Moslem experts. Against them is, well… er… you.
Let’s first settle this one. You -v- many Moslem expert sites

There is some reference to the Holy Trinity given in the Koran.
5:116
And (remember) when Allah will say (on the Day of Resurrection): “O ‘Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)! Did you say unto men: ‘Worship me and my mother as two gods besides Allah?’ " He will say: "Glory be to You! It was not for me to say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, You would surely have known it. You know what is in my innerself though I do not know what is in Yours, truly, You, only You, are the AllKnower of all that is hidden and unseen.
4:171
O people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians)! Do not exceed the limits in your religion, nor say of Allah aught but the truth. The Messiah ‘Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), was (no more than) a Messenger of Allah and His Word, (“Be!” - and he was) which He bestowed on Maryam (Mary) and a spirit (Ruh) created by Him; so believe in Allah and His Messengers. Say not: “Three (trinity)!” Cease! (it is) better for you. For Allah is (the only) One Ilah (God), Glory be to Him (Far Exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And Allah is AllSufficient as a Disposer of affairs.

Some apologists try to suggest that this does not refer to a Trinity. Odd then that it has historically been accepted by Muslims as saying exactly that…
"Ibn Abbas, an early Muslim scholar said, what is meant by the Trinity is God the most high, His consort and His son’.[1] Some later commentators saw the Trinity as `God, Mary, and Jesus’.[2] This understanding is based on the Qur’an (see Q. 5:72-75 & 116)”

Jesus was called “the Messiah” by Allah in the Qur’an. And Jesus was even born of a virgin (Sura 3:45-57)!

If he is the Messiah then the earlier Koran quotation saying he is not the messiah is another contradiction.

Islam claims that Allah is the same God who was revealed in the Bible. . . . then if the Bible and the Qur’an have differing views of God, then Islam’s claim is false. Don’t forget that Muhammad claimed in Suras 2:87, 29:46, 32:23, 5:44, 6:154, 6:155 that Allah confirmed the Torah (Taurat) and Christian Gospel (Injeel) (Sura 2:87, 5:46, 5:68, 29:46 and 43:63). So, if the Torah and Gospel are correct, all the errors in the Qur’an make the Qur’an false.

A tenet of Islam is that both Mohammed and Jesus of Nazareth were both Muslims. Islam says both were prophets sent by Allah. If this were true, then it is mandatory that these two great prophets must coincide exactly in all points and never contradict each other. Did not the same Allah send both of them? Then, aren’t even the smallest of contradictions between the two, very big red flags? And there are a great many, which you will see below.
Sura 5:68 - Say: “O People of the Book! ye have no ground to stand upon unless ye stand fast by the Law (Torah), the Gospel (Injeel), and all the revelation that has come to you from your Lord.”

Sura 29:46 Muslims are told by Allah, not to question the authority of the scriptures of the Christians, saying, "And dispute ye not with the People of the Book, but say, "We believe in the revelation which has come down to us and in that which came down to you; Our Allah and your Allah is one.

Which is it Muslim? Which one of these Suras is real and which one is it? Does it matter, because either way if it is truely God’s word, then it MUST be without error and there is a serious error here, which means that it is not from God and the Koran is false.

Jesus was called “the Messiah” by Allah in the Qur’an. And Jesus was even born of a virgin (Sura 3:45-57)!
If he is the Messiah then the earlier Koran quotation saying he is not the messiah is another contradiction…
Hi

I think you are mistaken, there is no such verse in Quran, which says that Jesus is not Messiah. Please quote from Quran.

Thanks

If the Koran says Jesus is the messiah then how do you explain Sura 29:46? It says Muslims should not question Christian scripture…

Also why does Mohammed say one thing and Jesus another if they are both sent by the same God of Abraham? they should say the same thing!!

Also why is Mohammed considered a prophet, what did he foretell?
