I don’t think blacks should get upset over this. I mean come on. Look at how trivial this is? Michael just made a huge mistake…we all do.
PLEASE tell me you are being sarcastic? Have you SEEN the clip of how he behaved? There is no mistake there, he was not intoxicated, he knew exactly what he was doing. The man is not an idiot. You don’t live your entire life in this country and not know that to get up on a stage and call people “n&%$*” is a totally unacceptable behavior.

Look, the bottom line is that everybody messes up now and then. I certainly have. Unfortunately for celebrities, when they mess up, they do it for all the world to see. When a guy like Michael Richards or Mel Gibson or anyone else messes up, and they make a heartfelt public apology, we should just let it go. They have been punished and shamed and we should allow them the same luxury we have - to repent in the privacy of our own hearts.

Think of the last time you did something you were ashamed of. Maybe nobody ever found out about it. What if all the news networks published it (with video) and those who make their living from exploiting tensions between people or from the foolish failings of fallible people called for your head on a platter? What if you had to hide in your house for weeks or months because reporters were camped out in front of your home hoping to get some more dirt on you to show on TV?

A bit of compassion, please.

God bless us all,
Paul

Hey what do you guys think about Michael Richards (aka Kramer) racial outbursts?

EXACTLY!!

Well said.

I’m sure God waits in anticiaption for your pearls of wisdom. What does Mel Gibson’s hatred of Jews have to do with awful stories about Catholics?
Oh, I thought you were ignoring me? Mel Gibson does not hate Jews as he has stated (but you won’t listen, like I said), he was p----- off at the Jews for treating him the way they did when his movie come out. Again Mr. Valke, you know every answer I give you is true, yet you are in denial and try and make everyone feel sorry for you…please…I do not need to comment on this any further. Smart people know what’s happening and what is true.

Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, (love) is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. *- Corinthians 13:4-7*

whatever bella:rolleyes: …I think you need to curb your attitude towards some of your fellow Catholics and towards the Jews…some of your posts where downright rude…if you want people to listen to you may I suggest you tone down your attitude and stop insulting people:)
Don´t hold your breath

Did you actually see the video in question? If you did I don’t see how you can say that. Kramer was not “poking fun” at the black gentlemen, he said “Shut up! Fifty years ago we’d have you upside down with a f------ fork up your a–.”, "You can talk, you can talk, you’re brave now mother------. Throw his a-- out. He’s a n-----!, a n-----! etc…

I mean this was not “poking fun” this was straight vitriol and hate. Let’s not go overboard with these comparisons.
I saw the video because I can’t seem to get away from it. He was called a cracker before he said the horrible word that I am not allowed to say since I am white. If a black comic started calling a white person a cracker it wouldn’t be on the news.

something is wrong with him no doubt about that. its hard to believe he wasnt on something!!! still its getting way too much media attention though. he is only a stupid comedian…

I agree, Liza.

With standup comedy, nothing is sacred in the realm of humor, and the use of the n-word is soooo old news, even with white comedians.

The problem with Kramer’s outburst is that he WASN’T saying the stuff he did to be humorous. He was clearly saying it with the intent to hurt members in the audience, and he didn’t even have the decency to stop when he succeeded.

Well he just got mad…I do the same thing all the time…(with out the racial slurs). No big deal…I think if someone gets in your face about anything they should expect turnabout.

When Mel Gibson said something racist while under the influence it was all over the media; what he said was reported in full detail.

When Kramer, an experienced stand up comedian, came out with his racist comments whilst at work the media has not reported his words and in general he is receiving a much more sympathetic hearing than Mel.

I guess the bottom line is for Kramer not to make a movie about Jesus.

B;ack comedians make vulgar jokes about white people all the time. No outrage there.

WHY THE DOUBLE STANDARDS???

Sorry folks, didn’t want this thread to become an argument on how bad what he did was or wasn’t ( I think there are other threads already started on the subject). I just wanted to point out that our Lord often does not get the same reaction when his name is abused!?

i thought the same thing. people are always looking to take down mel because of his strong catholic faith. they want to make him look like a fool.

kramer went off, like he’s crazy. much worse than what mel gibson ever did. i don’t think he had much experience in stand up.

what media are you watching??? I’ve seen the story on TV, heard it on the radio and it is ALL OVER the internet. To say this story isn’t getting a lot of coverage is nuts. Not to mention the appearnce made by Richards on Letterman. Not to mention the fact that Mel Givson was ARRESTED and DRUNK and 1000 TIMES MORE FAMOUS than Kramer.

Give me a break.

This is not a case of double standards. Richards was not making a joke. He hasn’t even tried to spin it that way. Why should you?

How did you see the video? According to bella, the jews are keeping a tight lid on this!
