A blind man can atleast listen to audio cds. Without these though it would be very tough for a blind man to study scripture.
Before audio CDs/tapes…One word: Braille

I don’t quite understand the whole purgatory thing, so just help me understand it. But what I understand is that Catholics try to pray people out of purgatory. But it seems that if you choose Christ before you die, you go to heaven, because your sins are forgiven. But if you don’t accept Christ, you go to hell. So where does purgatory fall in?
(i’m not trying to be smart, i’m honestly asking)
Simply put, Purgatory is where the application of Christ’s forgiveness takes place. You are forgiven, you are on your way to Heaven and Purgatory is where you are “cleansed” of all the effects of the sin you committed. It is not a second chance. If you are damned to Hell, that is where you go right after death. If you are bound for Heaven, then before you can enter, you must be purified. Purgatory is like a carwash for the soul. And our prayers don’t “get people out of purgatory”, rather, our prayers, “speed up” the cleansing process.

Where is purgatory talked about in the Bible?

It DOES say that a virgin shall give birth, but that’s it.
I wonder what type of family it would be. Picture this: Father, mother, and let’s say five children. The mother stays home to rear the children. Father goes to work and brings home the bacon and provides them with what they need. The oldest son also works and helps out the father in everything. The younger children never, ever ask their mother anything. Always go ask the father and their oldest brother. They ignore their mother completely other than to acknowledge that they came from her womb. On Mothers day, the children complete ignore their mother; same thing for her birthday, Christmas, etc. They never talk about their mother because their father and the older brother are the ones who buy them what they need. The younger children even ridicule the mother at times. Neighbors see this and they ask the four young kids why they pay no attention to their mother. They say, “Oh, she’s a good woman, we acknowledge that and she gave birth to us but other than that she means nothing to us. Why should we ask her for anything? We know that everything we get is from our dad and big brother. She is just an old woman. We don’t need her”. They, in the evenings when the family is sitting around relaxing, will get in the arms of their father and when the father asks them how come they don’t sit on their mothers lap they say “Oh dad, she is nothing. She means nothing to us. That’s why we just ignore that old woman. It’s you that we love”. How would the Father and the older son feel? Would this be a perfect family?

How would you like it if people made fun of your mother and others completely ignored her and just shove her aside? If people really, really, loved their mother, just think about an instance where somebody would make a derogatory remark about your mom. Think about it if you went to the store with her and while both in line, people would just get in front of her, and the cashiers would not check her out, and just completely ignore her. How would you feel? If you are married, how would you feel if your spouse told you “Your mother means nothing to me” and completely ignore her and even made fun of her? So just think; if we want to be like Jesus, would we not also want to love His mother just as He loved her. Or do we think that Jesus completely ignored her and at the foot of the cross, He was just making a slight family arrangement when “…He look at the disciple that He loved and said ‘…behold thy mother’” Would we not want to have a close relationship with the Mother of our Savior. The Woman that carried our Savior in her womb? The Woman that breastfed Our Saviour? The Woman that saw her innocent son cruelly scourged, spat upon, beaten, crucified, etc. on the cross? Should we not try to put ourselves in her position and love our Redeemer the way she loved Him and look at Him the way she looked at Him and how much He suffered for my sins? Do I not think that Jesus suffers and hurts every time we degrade His mother and push her aside?

Especially at this time of Lent AND especially next week on Good Friday contemplate on this: How would Jesus feel if we ran up to Him at one of the times He fell to try to help Him or give Him a cup of water, but in the process we just shoved Mary aside? We ask Jesus to forgive us, but when He asks, “Take care of My mother”, we tell Him “Hah, your joking of course? That old woman, she means nothing to me. She just gave birth to you but that’s it.” Look into the eyes of Jesus, and tell me how do you think He would feel at that moment?

My family? I have God my Father, Jesus, my savior, my brother, and Mary MY MOTHER. Cant get any better than that.

Your analogy makes be both smile, and feel sad… smile, cuz so many Catholics and some Protestants know the “value” of Mary in our lives… she is God’s most perfect creation

and sad, because so many have been taught to ignore her. I think even kujo would love her if his pastor/teachers etc would let him.
