Downtown Columbus in pretty centrally located in the diocese. I had forgotten that the same wasn’t true in Cincinnati.

**Cincinanti is at the southern tip of the Archdiocese. The Diocese of Covington is just across the river. **

Although…my own parish is building a new fifteen hundred seat church, and I think it is going to be beautiful, too…Much more traditonal than our present church…The peole got tired of the Protestant look.
Alot of people are getting tired of the Protestant look. If we are going to worship like protestants in churches that look protestant than we might as well be protestants. Thankfully I think Church architecture is slowly taking a turn towards the more traditional.

I learned that the hard way. When I went down for the St. Peter and the Vatican exhibit it was recommended by several people that I cross the river and see the gorgeous Covington cathedral.

My thinking was that if the Cathedral of a diocese was soooooo beautiful then the Cathedral of an Archdiocese must be more beautiful. Boy, was I wrong. And i didn’t have enough time to get to Covington. 😦

(P.S. I think we have pretty sucessfully hijacked this thread 😃 )

Sigh. If an Indult became available even an hour or two from my home you would see a trail of dust following me down the road.

I’m sorry to hear that there isn’t one nearby. I don’t believe there is a TLM in the entire state of W. Virginia. Ohio has been blessed to have it in 8 parishes, I believe.

I went to my first Latin Mass today. It was the Tridentine Low Mass and the missal they had was for the High Mass so I had to jump in order to keep up. They only do the Low Mass In the Summer months. I gave up with the missal and just wached the priest and followed everyone else. It was about 1hour and 20 minutes due to a very long but very good homily. The Church was 2/3 filled which I thought was good for the summer when everyone is away on vacation. Only 2 women didn’t have veils on.
Can anyone help with were to get a chapel veil and a 1962 missal. I enjoyed it very much and would like to attend regularly. Everyone was nice and I met a few people I knew. One thing I noticed right away, big families. Two families had 8 and the norm seemed to be 5-6.

I can’t think of anyplace off the top of my head that sells chapel veils but they are available online. Try to google it.

1962 missals can be hard to come by. I have a 1945 missal which is essentially the same.

I do believe that Angelus Press (affiliated w/ the SSPX) publishes a 1962 missal. And a company in England called Baronious Press (I think) will publish a '62 missal in Sept.

Hey, St. V. Howya doing?

We have 2 churches that celebrate Latin Mass.

One is St. Mary’s Oratory which only has Latin Mass. High Noon Mass every day too.

The other is at my Parish!

Stephanie

It is my understanding that the cathedral in Covington is absolutely gorgeous. They recently did a little renovating…nothing drastic, of course.

**The acoustics are good, too. The Cincinnati Boy Choir sings there just about every year, I think. **

One last thing. Does this happen at your service as opposed to the NO Mass, big giving. I go to Church at my Parish in Boston and I hear alot of change and see dollars and lots of hoohaaring about Church closings. Today I saw mostly 10 and 20’s. Maybe they are trying to tell us something. 👍

There have been several Priests in the Archdiocese of Detroit that have asked to say the TLM, I’ve spoken with several about this. Assumption Grotto had hundreds or maybe thousands of signatures collected and sent to the Cardinal a few years back, and nobody seems to know what happened to them, best guess is no response. Many proponents of the TLM are taking a wait and see approach, there have been rumors that a Parish will be selected to have the Mass that is not conducive to it, many believe that the Cardinal does not want this to succeed.

Detroit has been one of the last hold outs for the TLM but I know that negotiations are ongoing and this could soon happen. I have heard from someone involved that many of the ingredients of a successful TLM are ready to roll, pending archdiocese approval. A marvelous historic, centrally located church with an inviting pastor and a top notch music program among other things, have been lined up.

I was told that the Latin Mass indult will be offered at St. Josaphat in Detroit starting in November.

I actually sent an email to the Institute of Christ the King to come to Detroit and suggested that Church. The Monsignor who runs the order in the USA said that he can’t send priests to Detroit now This Church is beautiful and huge[well by modern standards]. It has a seating capacity of at least 1500-1750 and is one of the Canfield trio of churches. St.Josaphat’s neighborhood was cut through by highway builders[the I 94 highway] and the parish fell into bad times. Now the parish has only two Masses a week and is run by the pastor of the neighboring parish,Sweetest Heart of Mary,[also a memebr of the Canfield trio]. The pastor of this parish says a Conservative NO Mass with the Canon in Latin. St.Josaphat’s still has its high Altar and side altars intact. Here’s the parish homepage

Yes St.Josephat’s will ahve a weekly TLM each Sunday. It will start on October 3, and the Mass will be at 10.00 AM.

I just checked the AOD website, as far as I can tell the annoucement has not been made yet, but I talked to the choir director their back in May and he thought they would be getting it. I’ve also spoken with people at Assumption Grotto, and SS Cyril and Methodius who have submitted for the TLM, but they were not as optimistic.
