That Papal Tiara seems different than the one that hangs in my room…
Do you realise ‘real’ is an adjective and cannot take the preposition ‘for’? Language changes. This horse bolted so long ago that the stable has been renovated into an Air B&B.The gays? Are you for real? You do realise gay is not a noun?
I was waiting for your sensible sage opinion and here it is!There is no reason for Catholics not to use a rainbow in their art or on their t-shirts or whatever, but there is also no reason for Catholics to politicize the symbol as a way of “taking it back”. To the extent a rainbow symbolizes the diversity of mankind, we already welcome that into our church.
Its already being used elsewhere, and the viewers might get a wrong idea.I propose the Catholic Chuuch should adopt this as a symbol for the wonderful creation by God
The swastika is an extreme case. Because of its association with the Nazis, it’s even banned from a number of countries. You don’t see businesses naming themselves after swastikas, or small children being given swastika toys to play with. Swastikas also do not occur in nature.Example given, the swastika is traditionally an Indian sign of good luck and prosperity. But if I were opening an Indian restaurant, I probably wouldn’t want to use the symbol no matter how appropriate. A lot of people might get the wrong idea, so its just easier to find something else.
To properly reclaim it, it would need to be done by ALL Christians (if not Jews too) and not just Catholics.Reclaim it! What’s to stop us?
