Our Dear Pope Francis looks like a loving grandfather who continues his work while allowing his dear grandchild to “work” next to Grandpa.

What a beautiful example of allowing children to “hang on to Mommy and Daddy” even when the plans are for the children to sit still a bit longer.

My favorite picture was of the little boy in the Pope’s chair while he continues his speech. There’s something so accepting and gentle about him sanctioning the boy’s presence even though the Cardinals kept trying to get him to come away.

As a parent I think I’d be mortified if my kid did that but very thankful for a kind and charitable Pope. 👍

I agree. When I saw the photos, I thought “yikes!”

Wait a sec…this reminds me of Someone else who did something similar…oh yeah! 😃

 That is so adorable! Yes, I know it’s probably not the wisest thing for anyone to do, but to see the Pope being so kind, and so thoughtful towards the boy, without a hint of anger or of being upset about it, it just really makes me see how wonderful he truly is. His parents probably aren’t too thrilled about it, but for me, this definitely should show everyone how kind Pope Francis truly is.

Sometimes controlling your children is is not as easy as some people seem to think especially when a child is more challenging than others to handle. The Pope’s assistant tried to help out but not even he had success. All you can do is try. So what to do? Pope Francis seemed to have handled it well by keeping calm and being patient.

People act like this is a controlling your child issue. This doesn’t seem to be the case in this situation. It sounds like several kids were invited to sit on the stairs to the podium at this event. The parents were probably still in the “normal” seating or somewhere else close by, but not close enough to intervene. This is one of the reasons they suggest not doing this type of stuff during Mass (i.e. inviting the kids to come up during the homily.) You can’t predict the outcome.

The Pope handled this great.

I am amazed mainstream media hasn’t picked up on it, but of course since it makes the Pope look good…

My bet is one of the pictures that taken from a bad perspective makes it look like he slapping the child will be used on some sites.

It’s being widely and positively reported in the media here (Australia).

I’ve seen it on the news all day! I fact, I just saw it on NBC nightly news.🙂
