I didnt say adultery would be ok if society said it was. I said there is no scandal in living together because it is so normal.
It’s not a question of knowing. The appearance of immorality can cause scandal even if there is no actual immorality.I can’t imagine how living together but staying chaste could be a problem. No one should know if you are having sex or not!
Scandal does not make fornication or living in a near occasion to sin any more okay than having an affair in a society that is fine with adultery. What society finds normal does not matter: society is corrupt.I didnt say adultery would be ok if society said it was. I said there is no scandal in living together because it is so normal.
You conditioned what is “wrong” based on what “most people” think is “wrong”I didnt say adultery would be ok if society said it was.
What isn’t out of the occasion is living in a near occasion to sin.The poster, and I took sex out of the equation. There is no fornication.
You want to treat avoiding mortal sin as a “probably”? You don’t live in a dark movie theater. And probably no more near occasion of sin than dark movie theater.
People don’t intend to marry their siblings. People don’t act like their sibling is their significant other.Right. It’s like when people live with a sibling.
Even if had sex w the gay roommate, still no “scandal” if “scandal” defined by what “most people” think is a “scandal”In college my girlfriend lived with a gay roommate. Where is the scandal?
Where in anything that I quoted to you did it say that the details of that couple’s sex life had to be known? Talking about your sex life is inconsequential to whether or not your behavior is scandalous in this context.Actually I’m more in the dark about people who live together and their sex lives than the sex lives of those who dont live together. Those who dont seem to be more public about their intimacy.
If a brother and sister live together, people may assume they’re a couple if they don’t advertise their situation. That’s the thing…most people don’t know whether a given man and woman are married, dating, siblings, roommates etc. I don’t really know where the sin of scandal comes up unless you’re living in a small gossipy village.People don’t intend to marry their siblings. People don’t act like their sibling is their significant other.
OP referenced the CCC and “Church teaching”most people…
