Local Catholic high school president resigns over same-sex relationship

I find it hard to believe that the school did not know that he was in a "relationship " and has two kids. He should never have been hired in the first place. Methinks the next step for the gay acceptance movement is to attempt to force Catholic orgs to employ actively gay people.
 
A wise move on his part, I should think. I can’t imagine that folks who worked closely with him didn’t already know? It’s interesting that he chose to cite this as his reason for resigning when he might just as easily have not given a reason or generically said he wanted to spend more time with family. Evidently, he wanted to make a statement via his resignation.
 
At least he resigned when he realized that he would be a hypocrite for trying to do both. Also unlike Carla Hale, he won’t try to sue or claim unfair firing.
 
OK, I’m confused. He says “I am excited to now be able to focus on my 2 children and my partner of 18 years as my first priority.”

First–partner of 18 years? He’s been in a same sex relationship that long and nobody knew?

Second–two kids? Unless biology has changed, I don’t think two guys can have two kids without having a woman involved somehow.

Homosexual couples do one of three things:

(1) mate with the opposite sex (often from the homosexual community)
(2) get the same to donate sperm/eggs for laboratory-enhanced reproduction. (Homosexual men often persuade lesbians or “gay-friendly” heterosexual women to be baby-carriers.)
Lesbians either use known sperm donation or an anonymous sperm bank, and sometimes also use surrogacy, but naturally don’t necessarily have to.
(3) adopt

In other cases, one partner lived a heterosexual lifestyle for decades), entered into a heterosexual marriage, sired or mothered children, then “realized” 😉 that he was “always” homosexual (“from birth” ;)). Hence said person has children from a natural marriage. (A minority of cases, but it definitely happens & I’ve known a number of these.)

In a way, the catholic leadership has looked the other way for a long time. I have children ranging in age from 34 to 18. When my older children were in catholic grade school there was one female teacher that was let go because she got divorced and another because she was living with her boyfriend. Fast forward 18 years and we had an openly gay female teacher in our catholic high school who was arrested for having an affair with one of the students.

I will bet there are gay teachers in every catholic school.

I’d like to know if the principal or bishop asked for his resignation. this principal is the first to take a stand.

Still God Bless Archbishop Nienstedt!!

He was, as memory serves, very vocal during last year’s debate on marriage.

On edit: also, I understand, from some personal friends up there, that he is making left-wing heads explode on an almost daily basis. Another reason to like him!

On further edit: seems that the notorious St Joan of Arc parish has had its teeth pulled a bit…yet another reason.

Maybe - Maybe Not. Many things can be done indirectly, with little fanfare or knowledge by outsiders. Though it is funny he decides now to resign…

We are not privy to the private correspondence of bishops, or any authority, really. Though I do believe he resigned on his own volition.
 
After reading the article about the online petition re this issue (startribune.com/local/north/214226811.html) and reading through the comments on the quickly-growing “LGBTA Alumni of Totino-Grace” Facebook page (linked in the article), I will say this:

I continue to have zero faith in LGBT same-sex marriage arguments that “we have no interest in making churches go against their beliefs”.

Just like I chafed at all those “there’s no threat of same-sex marriage” arguments 6 months ago when we voted on the MN Constitutional amendment.

Not so funny. On August 1, he probably plans to “marry” his partner. Could be he would lose his job anyway.

Yes he was. And suffered a backlash due to it. Was one of the lightning rods leading to the voting down of the same sex marriage constitutional ban. Congrats.

Woulda been worse to be silent on the issue. People have to know that what they’re doing is wrong, even if they choose to ignore it. His conscience is clean on the matter, at the very least.
