I’m jealous. You made the wise choice for dinner.Wise decision.
I wasn’t feeling that well myself today so I didn’t exactly fast but I also didn’t eat a lot.

I usually eat two rolls for a meal, so I think one would be considered a smaller meal.I wonder if a sushi roll is considered a full meal. Of course I did eat that quarter of a stale Twinkie too.
lol–hmmm…eat something I don’t like. Broccoli here I come! lolFadda Miguel said to eat something you don’t like in place of fasting.
It was a Gojira roll, which was spicy crunchy tuna with avocado on top. My usual Friday night roll.
I like your meal idea…I had never thought of toast. LOL I ate a bowl of oatmeal, small bowl, today…for breakfast…and for lunch, had the soup and a small amount of fish. For dinner, the sorry fish filet sandwich from McDonald’s. Is that food? lolIf I had access to a stale Twinkie, I’d eat it right now.
I’m diabetic, but fasting on Sunday morning until after Mass doesn’t cause any problems (except a little rubbly tummy) and I can manage the only two days fasting is asked of me.
On Wednesday, I went to my aunt’s funeral. After we had a luncheon at her favorite restaurant and that was my meal. Almost everyone there was at least nominally Catholic, but only 3 of us ordered fish, me, Aunt Rena who’s 93 and my late aunt’s sister in law who’s in her 80s. Then about 9pm I had some toast. That works for me. On Good Friday, I’ll probably put off eating until dinner time, get some fish at the fish fry, and maybe a little something like toast later in the evening.
I think that if you take a look at your normal meals, and cut two of them down, you’d probably be ok. You don’t have to starve and get cranky. Instead of 2 eggs, toast and juice for breakfast, just have one egg and the toast. Instead of a sandwich and fries and a milkshake for lunch, just the sandwich (tuna or cheese, of course). You can find a way to make this work for you without making everyone around you hate you.
Actually I have! I made a Cali roll, and it tasted EXACTLY like what we get in the local Japanese restaurants—except somehow it ended up in a spiral instead of the usual roll with rice on the outside, stuff on the inside.lol–hmmm…eat something I don’t like. Broccoli here I come! lol
I loathe that veggie.
Hmmm…your sushi roll sounds heavenly. Have you ever made sushi? It looks complex…I don’t think I’d ever be able to wrap it that tight.![]()
The Pioneer Woman recently blogged about a sushi chef visiting her and teaching her some sushi-making techniques. There are two more posts that go with this one. There’s a lot of technique going on at the sushi bar.
Thanks for the link. Awesome knife there in the picture! The Pioneer Woman recently blogged about a sushi chef visiting her and teaching her some sushi-making techniques. There are two more posts that go with this one. Have fun, sushi lovers!

I don’t like misused words, either. The one that annoys me lately is “decimated.” It is used in place of “devastated,” but it actually means “reduced by 10%.”Thanks for the link. Awesome knife there in the picture!
although one of my major pet peeves is the mis-use of the word DECADENT to describe something luxurious or delicious. The root word is decay. Decadence is to be avoided at all costs.
Hey, that looked like a Cali roll, too.
I do have a question: the official fasting rules state that liquid can be taken between meals. Is this just water, or is coffee with milk in it okay?
I can has a V-8?
Funny you say that, I bought some pancheta to add to an eggplant dish I made last night, and it tasted reaaaallly good…I think I will have a greater appreciation for meat, etc once Easter comes, so true.I eat a bagel and tea for breakfast. A peanut butter sandwich for lunch. A piece of fish and veggie salad for dinner. That and small variations on it are my Lenten meals.
I do miss sweets, and hamburgers. They taste very good come Easter.
I had pizza for lunch today. What I learned was that pizza with extra cheese, which is a slithery mess when it first comes out of the oven at the pizzeria, is much, much better when gently warmed after it’s been refrigerated for a couple of days.Arrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhh. You guys are KILLIN’ me… talking about hamburgers.
Just please don’t start talking about PIZZA and DESSERTS. :crying: :crying: :crying:
