I think the GOP would be better off long-term if they killed the ACA even without a replacement. The left-wing media has created such hysteria with the numbers that once people realize it’s good the fed is getting out and they have more private choices and coverage, they’ll be more inclined to disregard liberal solutions. As El Rushbo noted, the Democratic leaders were willing to take the hit politically to pass ObamaCare. Remember, they even told Bart Stupak on that plane he had nothing to lose cause he was going to lose anyway. Tell that to a McConnell Republican and they break for the hills.
Unless they go full conservative right now, it’s more of a losing situation versus a very big losing situation. They’re not going to be able to say “Trump wanted too much, and Democrats still own it” after the people gave them 2 branches of government. The only saving grace the GOP has is that the DNC has gone full overboard on ID politics. But at end the day, no matter what the social media commentators say, the votes that matter most are going to come from people who think pocketbook first.
