unfortunately, that is all we can do sometimes…
Yes let them know where you stand and move on, ultimately it is the Holy Spirit who will convert, plant the seeds and move on, God will do the watering.
Insults don’t convert, they just make people dig their heels in and they become more ingrained, and even if they think you have something there, they won’t admit it, pride.
Some people Jesus met wern’t convinced, it won’t be any different for us.
Three weeks ago I had two Jehovah’s Witnesse’s at my door Sunday afternoon.
One was from California, the other was from England, the one from California seemed to take exception to being called Morman, ignorance on my part, that’s all I’ve head them called.
I normally bring them into to my home and listen and converse, but the house was crowded that day and no-where to take them.
Anyway we had a cordial conversation and I let them know where I stood, and them vice-versa. I did ask them why they preach to people that heard about Jesus and why don’t they preach to pagans ?
He said that’s a very good question, I never did receive an answer, he then asked me"how do you know the Bible is the word of God ?"
In around-about way I told him because of interruptions of people going in and out the door.
One quoted this and that and I threw in a few my-self to their horror, I could see it in their eyes, probably thought another non Bible reading Catholic ripe for the picking.
I have to say I don’t care for people coming to my door and preaching to me, but I definately don’t verbally abuse them.
They also said they wern’t here to convert me after I asked them do they want me to become Morman ?
I know a lot of non-catholic Churches put leaflets through our letter box’s whether we like it or not, but one time this Protestant girl went psycho because a Catholic invited her to a Church function, via a leaflet.
Oh well what’s good for the goose is good for the gander, so to make a long story Borrrrring !
if your going to preach the word of God on your terms, expect insults.
I’ve had my stint on non-Catholic boards, I’ve survived for about 3 posts at the most, like I said, time to shake the dust.
