Mary was just a vessel

ARe you sure you were at a Catholic Mass? Did you see the part where everyone forms a big line and goes up to the front of the the Church and receives communion? That’s the bread and wine they’re getting (well, at that point it’s Jesus they’re getting).

Yes I’m sure.

Correct me if I’m wrong: what’s given to the congregants is the ‘host’. What is it made of? According to Wikipedia it is made of white flour, yeast salt and holy water.

Assuming that’s true – Question 1: where’s the wine (grape juice)? Question 2: The original Lord’s Supper/Last Supper was don’t prior to Passover. The chance that the bread used was unleavened is quite probable, thus without yeast.

My original question stands: If the bread and wine are really to become the Body and Blood of Jesus then why are the elements that Jesus used and spoke the famous words over, not used in your church?

So when was Jesus man and not God? If she is the mother of only the man there must be a time when Jesus is man and not God. Can Jesus be both and yet only one of the two? We know that Jesus was a real man. He was a real man, so he was a person. Can a person be only partly man? Can a man, who is a person, be anything less than 100% a person? Can God ever be anything less than 100% divine? If Jesus is fully man and fully God, what division can be made to say that Mary is mother to only a part?
You do a good job of summarizing the questions that were undertaken by the Council, and the answers to which provided the impetus for the title “Theotokos”. 👍

You are reading into what I’m saying what is not intended.

What happened first: Paul confronting Peter as recorded in Gal or Act 15?
Truth does not become Truth when it is declared by a council. It was Truth from the beginning. Jesus taught the Apostles that the Kingdom was for everyone. Peter was still not getting it, so God revealed it to him convincingly by sending him to Cornelius. Yet, Peter’s human weakness overshadowed what he knew to be true. He was people pleasing with the Judiazers, and Paul confronted him about his hypocritical behavior. There was nothing wrong with Peter’s doctrine, just his behavior.

Did God die?

I supposed it’s better to have opinions backed by your churches understandings of things.
You seem to be failing to make a distinction between Sacred Traditions and the traditions of men. It is true that there are as many Catholic opinions as there are belly buttons. However, the Church is the custodian of the Teachings of the Apostles, and they are the Word of God, not peoples opinions.
I guess I’m thick headed and prefer to find answers for myself. Read others’ opinions and look at the Bible for myself and try to let God help me understand.
There are plenty of us that are “think headed” here. You seem to imply that Catholics do not need to find answers for themselves? Most of the Catholics you will meet here on CAF have spend decades doing just that.

It is good to read and reflect on the writings of others, and to read the Bible for yourself, and ask Him to understand it. It would be an error to assume He is going to show you something opposite of what He has already revealed to the Church He founded. 🤷

It is up to each one of us to make sure we know which is the real pillar and foundation of truth.🙂
I agree. It is much easier to know when Jesus Himself founded it, and keeps it by His grace. 👍

Sound right to me and that may be why you have over 32,000 none cathloic church today, Have a good sunday and may God bless you

Who was the first person to call Mary “Blessed”?
It was GOD Himself through the Angel Gabriel in Luke 1:28. If GOD said “Hail, full of Grace, the Lord is with thee”, in the same verse, could nary have been ‘full of grace’ or ‘blessed’ or have the ‘Lord with her’, had she been stained by original sin? If you say ‘yes’ to that one, then please explain your answer to me?

Could you please expain the tradition of not eating meat on Fridays and why it was changed?

What if, after studying, you come to a conclusion that something taught by the CC is not exactly correct? If that won’t happen, why do any studying except what the CC says if it’s never wrong? If that’s what you mean by decades of study, you really didn’t study for yourself.

The same Greek word ‘blessed’ that was used in Lu 1:28 is also used when Jesus took the loaves, broke them and blessed them and gave the pieces to the disciples to feed the thousands.

It’s the same Gk word Jesus used of Peter in the verse you use to say he’s the foundation of the church.

Simeon blessed (same Gk word) Joseph, Mary and Baby Jesus when they broght Jesus to the temple soon after He was born.

It’s used in Gal 3:9; Eph 4:3 (about all Christians that Paul was writing about).

Melchizedek ‘blessed’ Abraham (Hebrew 7:6).

Jacob ‘blessed’ the sons of Joseph (Hebrews11:21)

Looks like Mary was not the only one the Holy Spirit has designated as being ‘blessed’.

Then aren’t you separating Christ as his divine nature and Christ in his human nature?
“. I’ve called Mary mother of Jesus of Nazaretn but not the Mother of God.-”
So by your statrment you are saying Jesus is not God so please tell us who is god And if you read your Bible it was God that first call her Lord and I think that means God

Well you can see how some are very cofused on this board. ,Mary was the Motrher of Jesus and Jesus was God so any onw can see Mary is the Mother of God,people can not be that blind or can they
What is it that non-cathloic find a stumbing block against Mary, are they going to Tell Jesus how much they dislike His Mother,That is one thing I will not do. tell Jesus face to face I do not like your Mother and I do not respect Her…O well it will all come out in the wash.

hello guanophore. waiting on a response from dokimas about what he meant when he asked " did God die?" would very much like it if you would answere him. do not know if he is questioning the trinity or not. hi question seem somewhat arian. you would be best equipped to answere his question. he seems very close to denying the doctrine of the trinity. would appreciate your thoughts on this. i could be wrong. thx Love in Christ.

Most of the time you ask him for a answer he will not answer, I think the questions get to hard

appreciate this bill. does it seem to you that dokimas is questioning the doctrine of the trinity? if so, that is very dangerous ground indeed. hopefully i am wrong on this. Have a Blessed Lords Day tomorrow.🙂

its my understanding that eating meat on fridays is a custom not a dogma. similar to priest not marrying. it is custom. customs can be changed, dogmas and doctrine cannot. if the the Pope and council of bishops decided that the priest would say, have a different uniform to wear. that would be a change of custom not a change in doctrine. doctrine has never been changed since the time of the apostles.

God, in human form died. He taught that power over life and death were in Him, that Jesus rose again affirms that and also affirms that Jesus is God. Did the three divine persons experience what Jesus experienced? Seperation of body and soul? Death? Omnipresent God is.:twocents:
