ABC is a liberal news channel…do you think they are going to blame anyone else but the right? According to Michelle Malkin, some are saying that Glenn Beck and Hannity and Limbaugh material were found in the gunman’s home.

I have a copy of Audacity of Hope in my home. I must be a rabid Obama fan.

Prove that so-called fact.

Yup, its a biased source, one that is backed up with fact and citations.
  • Guns used 2.5 million times a year in self-defense. Law-abiding citizens use guns to defend themselves against criminals as many as 2.5 million times every year
  • Armed citizens kill more crooks than do the police. Citizens shoot and kill at least twice as many criminals as police do every year.
  • Every year, as many as one-half million citizens defend themselves with a firearm away from home.
  • States which passed concealed carry laws reduced their murder rate by 8.5%, rapes by 5%, aggravated assaults by 7% and robbery by 3%.
  • Vermont: one of the safest five states in the country. In Vermont, citizens can carry a firearm without getting permission… without paying a fee… or without going through any kind of government-imposed waiting period. And yet for ten years in a row, Vermont has remained one of the top-five, safest states in the union – having three times received the “Safest State Award.”
  • Do firearms carry laws result in chaos? No. Consider the case of Florida. A citizen in the Sunshine State is far more likely to be attacked by an alligator than to be assaulted by a concealed carry holder.
  1. During the first fifteen years that the Florida law was in effect, alligator attacks outpaced the number of crimes committed by carry holders by a 229 to 155 margin.
  2. And even the 155 “crimes” committed by concealed carry permit holders are somewhat misleading as most of these infractions resulted from Floridians who accidentally carried their firearms into restricted areas, such as an airport.
  • Kennesaw, GA. In 1982, this suburb of Atlanta passed a law requiring heads of households to keep at least one firearm in the house. The residential burglary rate subsequently dropped 89% in Kennesaw, compared to the modest 10.4% drop in Georgia as a whole.
  • Nationwide. In 1979, the Carter Justice Department found that of more than 32,000 attempted rapes, 32% were actually committed. But when a woman was armed with a gun or knife, only 3% of the attempted rapes were actually successful.
  • 3/5 of felons polled agreed that “a criminal is not going to mess around with a victim he knows is armed with a gun.”
  • 74% of felons polled agreed that “one reason burglars avoid houses when people are at home is that they fear being shot during the crime.”
  • 57% of felons polled agreed that “criminals are more worried about meeting an armed victim than they are about running into the police.”

ABC News: Tea Party connection 'incorrect’
From ABC News’ online report
on the Aurora shooting suspect:

An earlier ABC News broadcast report suggested that a Jim Holmes of a Colorado Tea Party organization might be the suspect, but that report was incorrect. Several other local residents with similar names were also contacted via social media by members of the public who mistook them for the suspect

Yes.I just heard that in one of the prior Batman movies,a similar scene as what occured last night was in this movie. Conjecture is this was a reenact:(:(:(ment

A Prayer I posted on my blog just now, as a reflection of what happened:

“We pray, O Lord, for all those affected by the shooting in Aurora, CO this morning. For those who were taken, eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let your perpetual light shine on them. For those who loved them, or who will be forever changed by the experience, we ask you to send down your Holy Spirit to console them. We pray that, in the devastation and suffering that they are feeling, they cling closer to you and that they’re hearts not be hardened or despair. Finally, we pray for the man who committed this atrocity, may he feel true sorrow and repent of his sin, and may everyone who hates him, who wishes damnation on him, experience a softening of heart and pray for his conversion. Amen.”

The whole post can be read here rdlang.blogspot.com/2012/07/comments-on-aurora-shooting.html

Was praying for the shooter going too far too soon?😦

Modern media a joke.

And I’m not a gun hating liberal (Far from it!) but I don’t see how a concealed weapon law would have prevented this tragedy. I would not feel comfortable going to a movie knowing someone could have a GUN in their possession!
Every state in the country issues concealed handgun licenses to qualified people except Illinois. In most states the only prohibited places are schools, federal buildings, those entering an airport to get on a flight, and places that post a sign saying no guns. Most movie theatres don’t have any prohibition against them.

I carry everywhere I go except work, or if I’m getting on a plane.

Also, any person with military combat training could have taken down the shooter. There just didn’t happen to be anyone in that theatre who was carrying at the time. Just a bad coincidence. He was the only one standing up at the front of the room, just aim for the silhouette. I would have confidence any number of my army buddies could have done it, they’ve all been involved in night time training scenarios.

Like George Zimmerman? Violent criminals are people too with lives, girlfriends, childhoods, etc. Person could take out fully innocent people, or people who they think to deserve to die even though they are innocent, or hurt people just by accident. One boy in my childhood lost his eye because his brother was horsing around and shot him in the eye with a bb-gun. In the end, there would be more innocent deaths, not fewer except if we were really in an anarchic state, and we are not there yet in most of America.
Thank you for continuing to politicize this recent tragedy (by including another recent tragedy, no less).

According to that site, this quote comes from: Kathleen O’Leary Morgan, Scott Morgan and Neal Quitno, "Rankings of States in Most Dangerous/Safest State Awards 1994 to 2003. But in 2008, Vermont’s murder rate climbed to the highest level in a decade.
The pair of homicides shattered the innocence of a place that resembles the Vermont of the 1960s and “lags behind in the real world of crime,” the prosecutor said.
“It’s so contrary to the mystique of the way things are up here,” he said. “We’re getting dragged into the reality of the rest of Vermont and the rest of the country.”
North Dakota is just as safe as Vermont, if not safer, and “carrying any firearm concealed is prohibited with the exception of one who is licensed to do so, or is exempted by statute, or is a law enforcement officer.”

You are WAY off topic and are trying to pull in an unrelated case. The thread is likely to be shut down thanks to your mention of the Zimmerman case.

I have a simple question for you:

The only people who should be allowed to carry firearms are military or police, true or false?

Thank you for continuing to politicize this recent tragedy (by including another recent tragedy, no less).

:mad::mad::mad:
It is not “politicizing” a senseless death of an innocent person by pointing out that the people who care the least about this senseless death and think investigations surrounding it are a waste on time (apparently it is is not a black on black crime or a crime committed by a black person against a white so is not credible), are also people who are advocating that more people have the right to do what the shooter did, i.e. kill more innocent people!

You are WAY off topic and are trying to pull in an unrelated case. The thread is likely to be shut down thanks to your mention of the Zimmerman case.
The moderator opened up the Zimmerman case for discussion. Both of these cases are homicides, in some people’s understanding. It is not clear why one homicide should not be discussed with regards to a another homicide occurring, especially when the United States has a homicide rate that far supercedes the homicide rate of EVERY OTHER developing country. This is somewhat of a cultural issue of lack of concern for human life.

This is why the two cases are related in my eyes. It is not clear what your explanation is for why these two murders are unrelated. If you have a good reason, please clarify or let the moderator clarify.

A police officer described that the entire back of the movie theatre was “full of blood” everywhere, on the seats.

It is truly a horrific scene.

My thoughts and prayers to the families of the victims who will be forever scarred by this tragic day.
