That would be crazy, I agree. But didn’t they blame them when that governor was shot last year? Of course the Tea Party has connotations of the KKK for many people living abroad. (Which is even crazier).

I’m only mentioning what I heard because people abroad formulate their opinion based on what they see on CNN/BBC/Sky and Al Jazeera. It’s very unfortunate that such misinformation gets released.
Understood. 🙂

I agree.

Here’s a link to homicides by firearms per country. (90’s)?

There were 52,447 deliberate and 23,237 accidental non-fatal gunshot injuries in the United States during 2000.[4] The majority of gun-related deaths in the United States are suicides,[5] with 17,352 (55.6%) of the total 31,224 firearm-related deaths in 2007 due to suicide, while 12,632 (40.5%) were homicide deaths.[6]

The distinction between “honest citizen” and “criminal” is debatable. In this country, 92% of the Tea Party are voting for Romney. 92% of blacks are voting for Obama. Tea Party people generally think the founding fathers were role models, despite slavery, rape, colonization, etc. Blacks generally see Obama as a role model despite his support for abortion and gay marriage. So one person’s criminal is another person’s hero.

**“History is written by the victors.” Winston Churchill. **
That’s a crock, with all due respect. You ask someone on the Left or the Right what a criminal is, they will answer the question nearly identically, I would imagine.

And I really tire of the revisionist history regarding our Founding Fathers. Were they saints? No. Few are. Were they political geniuses and God’s great blessing to the greatest country on the planet? Absolutely.

The Founding Fathers of your country are role models not because colonisation, ?rape and slavery were acceptable the world over and some of them took part in this, but because of the ideals of liberty they perpetuated in founding your country, ideals which would one day lead to abolition of slavery and freedom for all. Do Tea Party members really celebrate rape and slavery??

Of course they do. Tocqueville wrote extensively about our rampant rape culture.

Yes, some Tennessee Tea Party members support amendments to remove all references from the Founding Fathers owning slaves from history books. Tennessee Tea Party ‘Demands’ That References To Slavery Be Removed From History Textbooks thinkprogress.org/justice/2012/01/23/408974/tennessee-tea-party-demands-that-references-to-slavery-be-removed-from-history-textbooks/

Slavery was not acceptable the world over. Many times the Catholic Church condemned it in numerous encyclicals. In fact, some of the slaveowners and slaveowning priests, such as Fr. Bartholomew De Casas, were denied communion because of owning slaves. Does denying communion to someone sound familiar, as a few people have also been denied communion for abortion?

For goodness sakes, probably most of this country was opposed to slavery EVEN at the very start. Did the North or West own slaves?

I don’t understand what you have written. I don’t know “what a criminal is” except someone who has broken a law.

What do you mean?

Sorry, sir. :o

I was commenting on
So one person’s criminal is another person’s hero.
I maintain that for the vast majority of Americans, Left or Right, that is simply not true.

Gun violence is overpoweringly more vicious than knife violence. Did anyone see how the Native Americans were slaughtered by the first Americans or any other formerly colonized country was subdued? GUNS. There isn’t a form of marital arts that can defend you against people with guns.
Barbarism and Civil man have always existed side by side. And mass murder didn’t arrive with guns.

Marital arts can’t defend you against people with guns? This is incorrect.

Ever heard of the 21-foot rule? Not that I think 21 feet is infallible, but hey you take what your given. 🤷

They want the lights on at the night shows here now. See what happens. I’m not big on midnight trips from home.

I didn’t say the Catholic Church supported slavery, I said it was acceptable the world over - it was common in Asia, South America, Africa, Muslim parts of the world and so on. In Europe we had the concept of “serfdom” which was de facto slavery too.

How about a little less biased source, say the CPUSA website?
NASHVILLE — Members of Tennessee tea parties presented state legislators with five priorities for action Wednesday…
About two dozen tea party activists held a news conference, then met with lawmakers individually to present their list of priorities and “demands” for the 2011 legislative session that opened Tuesday.
“The thing we need to focus on about the founders is that, given the social structure of their time, they were revolutionaries who brought liberty into a world where it hadn’t existed, to everybody — not all equally instantly — and it was their progress that we need to look at,” said Rounds, whose website identifies him as a Vietnam War veteran of the Air Force and FedEx retiree who became a lawyer in 1995.

Notice, there is no “Tennessee Tea Party”, this is a loose group of “activitsts”.

Secondly, there was no desire to “remove all references”, just a desire not to present the material as “A bunch of rich, white, priveledged slave owners”. Just humans who lived in troubled times.

Colorado Tea Party: ABC report 'shameless’
The Colorado Tea Party Patriots has released a statement calling today’s incorrect ABC News report
“shameless and reprehensible”

The statement follows a report by ABC News’s Brian Ross suggesting that Colorado Tea Party member James Holmes may have been the alleged suspect in the Aurora theater shooting that took place last night. ABC News has since apologized for the “incorrect” statement

The full statement from Regina Thomson, President of the Colorado Tea Party Patriots:

The Colorado Tea Party Patriots and the Tea Party Patriots are saddened to hear of the death and wounding of theater goers in Aurora, Colorado. The member of the Colorado Tea Party Patriots, Jim Holmes, age 52 is not the same person who has been identified as the shooter

The attempts of some media organizations to characterize the shooter as a Tea Party member without having made any effort to contact our organization are shameless and reprehensible

Unfortunately it has already descended into “how can I use this tragedy to push my political views”

DO you want to hear Michael Bloomberg’s comments on the matter? They are nauseating.

Who cares? Try to use karate to defend yourself against a tyrannical governmen.

Sky News Criminology Prof also said that people in Colorado are “frontier people” and they have a tendency to settle scores themselves with … guns.

Of course the US has 300mil people and UK only 60-odd and gun ownership in proportion of that is probably even higher - say more guns per capita than in the UK before Dumblane, so not sure how simplistic comparisons work. It would be interesting to know how bad gun crime in the UK is – although unarmed cops make it less necessary for (professional) criminals to have to resort to guns or deadly force themselves. Is this true, are there still cowboy attitudes over there?

Have there been many mass shootings which were aborted by armed would be victims though? I gather the media would give less attention to these.
Oh my gosh, what a stupid thing to say!! Colorado is LIBERAL LAND!! It’s Utopian Paradise! Full of Dummycrats! Are THEY the “frontier people?” The ones who meet in Starbucks, wear turtlenecks, and hang out at Occupy Denver encampments? Because that’s what the Denver area is full of. Now, Aurora is just crime central, has nothing to do with frontier people, just crime. Lots of illegals, drugs, etc.

This guy was a psycho, period. “Frontier people,” what a crock.

Thank you for posting that. My reply would have resulted in the ban hammer being swung.
