The Founding Fathers of your country are role models not because colonisation, ?rape and slavery were acceptable the world over and some of them took part in this, but because of the ideals of liberty they perpetuated in founding your country, ideals which would one day lead to abolition of slavery and freedom for all. Do Tea Party members really celebrate rape and slavery??
Of course not! By the way, it is not a party, it is the Tea Party MOVEMENT, formed to protest the rampant spending of our Congress against our explicit wishes.

A media figure offered $35,000 or $50,000 for any recording that showed any racism whatsoever at a Tea Party movement rally. The money went unclaimed.

Oh my gosh, what a stupid thing to say!! Colorado is LIBERAL LAND!! It’s Utopian Paradise! Full of Dummycrats! Are THEY the “frontier people?” The ones who meet in Starbucks, wear turtlenecks, and hang out at Occupy Denver encampments? Because that’s what the Denver area is full of. Now, Aurora is just crime central, has nothing to do with frontier people, just crime. Lots of illegals, drugs, etc.

This guy was a psycho, period. “Frontier people,” what a crock.
I wouldn’t say Colo. as a whole is liberal land. True,we are a more purple state these days. As is true of most large cities,Denver is a liberal mecca,as is Boulder, outlying areas, more conservative by nature.

Another crazy shooting in America from a deranged gunman. I wish we knew the answer as to why this happens. Often it seems we’ll learn the person was on some medication to help with depression. If that turns out to be the case in this instance, possible that will be a clue for future prevention.

There is no good news from this tragedy. On the positive though America has experienced significantly less violent crime overall for the past few decades. We are doing something right to bring about this drop in crime rates. As last night showed, we need to become better though at stopping and deterring attacks such as these.

“Why Have We Seen a Drop in Crime?”

commentarymagazine.com/2012/01/03/crime-incarceration-and-charles-murray/

snippet from Peter Wehner’s article:
…The core of our disagreement is the role incarceration has played in the enormous drop in crime we’ve seen during the last 15 years or so. Charles argues that “simple incapacitation … plus a substantial deterrent effect is a plausible explanation for why violent crime dropped at all.” He harbors the belief that “without the massive increases in incarceration after the mid-1970s, crime rates wouldn’t have turned around at all. Higher imprisonment was the necessary condition for 100 percent of the reduction in violent crime.”
My view is that incarceration has played a crucial role in the drop in crime, for reasons Murray cites. But so have other factors, including target hardening and private security measures, the end of the crack cocaine epidemic, demographic changes, an increase in police per capita, and improvements in policing techniques (including “hot-spot” policing). As William Bratton, the very successful former police chief in Los Angeles and New York, has said, “We’ve gotten better at spotting crime trends more quickly. We can respond much more quickly.” Others argue the decrease in crime is attributable, at least in part, to a cultural re-norming, gun laws, the economy, advancements in medicine and public health, and more. Whatever the precise cause-and-effect, it’s implausible to believe these non-incarceration factors have had no impact whatsoever on crime rates…

Other than the Peoples Republic of Boulder and parts of Denver it is a conservative state. Unfortunately a lot of people live in those two areas.

May the deceased rest in peace and the injured make a speedy recovery from this horrible tragedy.

Dummycrats? Really? Someone having a different political viewpoint than you does not make them dumb!

Sorry, you are right, I should have written, “ill-educated idiots.” Of course I mean that as charitably as possible.

😉

Be careful of going against the forum rules about charity.

Many of their politicians are maddeningly obtuse, but they are still our brothers and sisters.

NB: There is no one on this forum that wants Obama to lose in November, and Reid to become Minority Leader than me.

I fixed it. 😃 Are we not allowed to call out ignorance and stupidity in our brothers and sisters?

Individually, probably. If someone is stupid, someone is stupid.

Calling an entire group stupid: probably not 😉

Forum rules prevent me from posting what I think of Nancy Pelosi. It’s probably worse for me because she is Italian.😦

Anyway, there are many non Catholics on CAF. We should try to set a good example for them, if no one else. Don’t mean that to sound preachy :o

CO Springs is Evangelical Land. The base of that evangelist pastor who propositioned a male undercover cop.

i haven’t read any of the posts on this thread and i didn’t hear about this shooting until late in the morning. it is a tragedy for all involved, the victims and the shooter and his family.
you just don’t know when these types of things are going to happen or where. we can’t stay locked in our homes all the time. we can’t live in fear. the people in the theatre last night will, no doubt, be traumatized for years just like the students at columbine high school. the suspect maybe at one time had a future full of promise - at least his family was hoping for that. now, their lives are in turmoil as are the families of the victims.
the economy was good when the shootings at columbine happend and the economy is bad now. i wish there was a way to stop these kind of things from happening, but i don’t know how. 😦

Pray. If we all did, things would turn around, I am sure of it.

But what parent takes a 6 year old to a violent movie at midnight? This poor child should have been home and in her bed peacefully sleeping! Stupid parents!
Why stupid? Many parents do crazy things for there wee ones. I am sure you have a few stories from your own upbringing.
I wonder how different things would have been if there were some responsible citizens in the crowd who were allowed to have their concealed carry weapons with them and were capable of responding in kind.

VIOLENT CRIMINALS SEEK OUT VICTIMS WHO CANNOT RETALIATE.

God Almighty, when are we going to learn this lesson? Gun control laws and practices are stupid.
Well we had body armor, a weapon that would out range most concealed carries. Plus crowded theater, many didn’t know it was an attack till to late. Plus added chance of victims in cross fire.
