The act of sex is mainly for procreation and then a gift for married couples to enjoy their love together. To remain chaste when one is not married is a virture. Self-pleasuring is not chasteness. Part of our goal to be heavenward bound is to deny ourselves of things that are pleasureable. It helps keep us humble. It keeps us in the light of the Church’s teachings. It keeps us closer to God.

Mary, our Blessed Mother remained a virgin because she and St. Joseph took vows of chasity. Many couples of old remained in this type of marriage. It seems preposterous to us, for sure. The very act of self denial is what is most important!

Don’t let someone else religious views cloud your judgement and don’t allow yourself to rationalize your right to do this. You are in exteme danger with your soul> I will pray that you may see the light and that satan goes back to his hellhole and leave you alone. Peace be with you!

God Bless!
God bless you!!! I totally agree with you

You dont tell me to leave, this thread is about masturbation, not a sin, I happen to think its not a sin, but because the church says it is I abide by it, If I do masturbate which 9 out of 10 men do, I will confess it, I will not dare to approach the altar to receive, unless I have. also, there are about three forths of catholics who sit in church every week & are cafeteria catholics & they all go to the altar, How am i any worse them them. & U need to go to confession for the way U talk to people
The Church does teach that is a sin. Do you call Fr. Corapi, Fr. Mitch Pacwa, Fr. Frank Pavone, Fr. Benedict Groeschele, Fr. Andrew Apostoli, Archbishop Fulton Sheen, Pope John Paul II, and Pope Benedict XVI liars. All say the opposite of you. Cafeteria Catholicism is wrong as well. Everyone needs to go to confession at some point. I myself don’t go often enough. Again quit slandering Catholics. We are “Catholics”, not “catholics” I am not saying you are worse than anybody as far as sins. I do need to go to confession, because we should go once a week instead once a year. Yes it is required to go once a year.

How foolish U are to berate me cause I didnt capitalize, how small is that of U. I am a person who goes to confession every week if necessary or never longer than a month, & really U do Not know what those men named above really believe, no more that we can really know for what real reason a man goes into the priesthood

God bless you!!! I totally agree with you
From the Holy Wounds Apostlolate, may I share the following from the 10 Commandments
  1. THOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY.
Commands: chasity in word and deed; avoiding occassion of sin.

Forbids: Pornography, bad movies, obscene speech, impure actions alone or with others, masturbation, fornification, homosexuality, incest and bestiality.

Think of your Judgement Day-- What will you say to God, the Father? Oh someone told me it was okay? This is no going to wash with Him. He knows you know the truth.

Obedience is intergal to being accepted into Heaven. If you are not obedient to one of His Commandments, it is to easy to rationalize bad behavior on the rest.

You can’t be sure you will have that time to make a complete and sincere confession before your death. Why do something that could land you in hell?

God Bless from the mercy swimmer

Call me foolish all you want. I do know what these men believe. They STATE what they believe on national TV. Father Corapi, often mentions that it IS a motral sin to masturbate. So are you calling him a liar or not. Fr. Mitch has also concurred with Fr. Corapi. The 2 best on EWTN on regular basis have stated that it IS a mortal sin. Pope Benedict XVI is a very educated man. Would you disagree with him?? I sure wouldn’t. He is your every day average man, who was called to lead the Catholic Church on Earth. He commits every sin we do. He goes to confession more than we do and he tries to make the world a better place than anyone else.

This is exactly what I expected someone to post. If this doesn’t convince someone that masturbation is a sin, then nothing will.

Furthermore not capitalization of the word Catholic is slanderous

And how does that equate to adultery? Is there another person involved?

The point of this whole thing is that masturbation is a violation of the 6th commandment. It’s the basis of the whole teaching.

Sorry, it’s not gonna fly.
The Magesterium, many religious and Pope Benedict XVI disagrees with you

As far as I know, women masterbate also. Just as much if not more than men. This is my personal expierence and I have had alot of girlfriends, we talked about it. Men just talk about it more in public. I guess it’s a man thing.

It comes down to whether you like it or not, sin is sin. True pleasure is for us in the next life, not here. Have you not looked around at the world and seen what sin is doing? When was the last time you went through a day and not seen a sin or committed one. This is why the Divine Mercy was created by Jesus as a last ditch effort on His part to save us again. We can’t seem to leave pleasure alone. It is killing our morals and our souls. We have to fight it within ourselves first before we can fight it anywhere else. It is not meant to be easy, or it would not be such an effort for us. It is another “cross” to bear with joy. It doesn’t matter if you don’t like it, it is God’s Law.

So, the 6th Commandment (for Catholics) is Thou Shalt not commit Adultery.

The dictionary shows Adultery as:
a⋅dul⋅ter⋅y
   /əˈdʌltəri/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [uh-duhl-tuh-ree]
–noun, plural -ter⋅ies.
voluntary sexual intercourse between a married person and someone other than his or her lawful spouse.

The dictionary shows Masturbation as:
mas⋅tur⋅ba⋅tion   /ˌmæstərˈbeɪʃən/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [mas-ter-bey-shuhn]
–noun
1. the stimulation or manipulation of one’s own genitals, esp. to orgasm; sexual self-gratification.
2. the stimulation, by manual or other means exclusive of coitus, of another’s genitals, esp. to orgasm.

There is no violation.
I don’t base my beliefs on the dictionary. I prefer the Catechism

furthermore don’t capitalize “U” when referring to me, for I am not worthy of having “U” capitalized" the only thing that should be capitalized is my name or nickname “Toby” or “Tobinator”

Really??? I love the Catechism but I base my beliefs by the Magisterium then the Bible and then the Catechism.
What is your problem. Remove the beam from you own eye. You are nitpicking. If you read my other posts you would see that I am faithful to the Magesterium. Your posts are lacking any sense of charity whatsoever.
