Just from general observation it appears the left has dominated the landscape (at least in a broader spectrum) more than the conservative voice;

Left newspapers
Right talk radio
Left televised news/opinion
Left satire/political comedy
Talking about left satire and political comedy, people on the left often think that those on the right have no sense of humor, while people on the right believe the same thing about those on the left. The truth is that neither those people on the far-left nor those on the far-right are likely to have much of a sense of humor since they are too busy fighting in earnest for their political causes. Their seriousness often precludes a sense of humor. (Not all, of course.)

Yes. That makes sense.

Also, my guess is either direction the satire is delivered often seems perceived as mean spirited, or at least complained to be. I suppose when any of us have certain expectations of what will be highlighted in jokes - and then one hears it; it can get dismissed as mean spirited. It may be we currently lack creative satirists?

One difference is that neither party has a pro-fascist platform, but one does have a pro-abortion platform.
One major party does have a pro-death penalty platform and it’s not the one which CAF members call the pro-death one.

The Democratic Party platform called for the abolishment of the state playing God and putting people to death. Describing it as cruel and unusual punishment with no place in a country such as the United States.

The Catholic Church teaches if non-lethal means are sufficient to defend and protect people’s safety from the aggressor, authority will limit itself to such means, as these are more in keeping with the concrete conditions of the common good and are more in conformity to the dignity of the human person.

In fact the Catholic Church goes on to say, "Today, in fact, as a consequence of the possibilities which the state has for effectively preventing crime, by rendering one who has committed an offense incapable of doing harm - without definitely taking away from him the possibility of redeeming himself - the cases in which the execution of the offender is an absolute necessity “are very rare, if not practically non-existent.” (CCC 2267)

The Republican Party otoh for it’s part condemns the erosion of states being able to enact the death penalty.

I’ve never understood people that can’t make a moral distinction between the non-judicial killing of an innocent child with the judicial execution of a convicted murderer after numerous appeals and legal counsel.

I think the catechism makes the distinction clear. But still affirms the sanctity of life.

Not saying there are not biases’ on the right, however considering the media as a whole, the biases’ clearly would lean in favor of the left as there are disproportionately more left leaning news outlets,
👍

All the bigger news outlets are left leaning, giving out news from their perspective and if need be, they will certainly lie about it. Thus the fake news.

It is difficult to find news outlets that do not spew out bias with their reporting. Sometimes it is better to watch foreign news channels, at least there is less interest in being partisan in local US politic.

But left leaning bias sells more than just the dull truthful objective news, probably that is the big motivating factor.

I think you may be surprised to realize that the media is centrist, and your perception of what is left/right has shifted as society has progressed.

Nevertheless they hate Trump and their reporting biased against him.

I agree somewhat; it is not as cut and dried to nail Trump’s politic but since the liberal leftists are those that are against him, perhaps he is their anti-thesis and therefore more to the right.

Most of the media is not centrist. Polls of journalists themselves consistently show this. The Overton Window has shifted left wards as the West ‘progressed.’

With heavier weight on the radio since much of it is with reaction from the audience.

Yes. I would agree talk radio can be more interactive with the audience.

I am not sure one could consider what is available of the World Wide Web slanted toward any political stance since everything under the sun seems available, yet also interactive.

Biased huh? A year ago Rush hated Trump (I only wish I had recorded some of the things he said) as did many Republicans. As did many CAF “right” leaning members. Has Trump changed his character? It seems if anything his character has been magnified a hundred fold. And not only in this country.

I do remember all off that and as the scramble is on for how to cover him, Trump keeps being Trump and winning! I feel he is breaking new ground and the media will come along or get left behind. I believe we are witnessing history being made!

I have said all along Trump was my very last choice for a candidate.I know others’ here n CAF and in general held the same feeling.
When he.became the nominee it was clear that not supporting him would only elect HC.So,personality issues aside,in the end he was the better choice of the two.Again, those of you who voted third party or just abstained from voting for a presidential candidate, can you honestly say you would be happier today with a HC presidency.? We have some pretty impressive cabinet picks so far,a conservative SCOTUS nominee, this wouldn’t have been the case with HC.

No, not his character *that changed) but what he stand for; in this case, against abortion. I did not follow him, I am not much a political person, I only post in this segment of the Forum out of curiosity to hear and discuss about his Presidency.

I like his policy on being anti-abortion. That matters to me.

Now the problem with many people, especially those who have problem with Trump, is they based their dislike on his character instead of his policy and what he does.

To some people that actually draw them to support him – do not bash his character; argue against his EO, his policy.

Unborn children in the womb don’t count.

It is the Democrat party which has unlimited abortions in its party platform.

More than 50,000,000 unborn babies killed so far in the United States.

(CNN)Sen. John McCain slammed President Donald Trump’s attacks on the media this week by noting dictators “get started by suppressing free press.”

It was a startling observation from a sitting member of Congress against the President of the United States, especially considering McCain is a member of Trump’s party.

The AZ senator said, “If you want to preserve – I’m very serious now – if you want to preserve democracy as we know it, you have to have a free and many times adversarial press. And without it, I am afraid that we would lose so much of our individual liberties over time. That’s how dictators get started.”

The 2008 Republican presidential nominee said Americans must pay attention to history to understand the past connections between leaders of oppressive governments and efforts to stifle the media.

“They get started by suppressing free press, in other words, a consolidation of power – when you look at history, the first thing that dictators do is shut down the press,” McCain said. “And I’m not saying that President Trump is trying to be a dictator. I’m just saying we need to learn the lessons of history.”

Trump tweeted Friday that media outlets were “the enemy of the American people”.

Senator McCain made his remarks critical of President Trump in Germany which does not have free speech or freedom of the press.

We do not have a democracy and the press is not conferred immunity from criticism.

In addition, Senator McCain has some skeletons in his closet which would suggest he should take the advice given to others: sit down.

How many times do we have to keep going over this?

Yes the people spoke and 54% spoke against Donald Trump as the media more or less predicted the popular vote to be. And being wrong in a few states such as PA, MI, and WI out of 50 states, hardly constitutes being 100% wrong. But feel free to keep believing that. Democrats believed they had a lock on the EC too. Don’t get too overconfident with 1% wins in a few states. Pendulums swing.
The United States of America is a Republic.

The Republic uses an Electoral College system of voting.

Popular vote is meaningless.

The Democrat Party is now merely a fringe group … two coasts and a couple of cities.

CNN’s discussion panels frequently have Trump supporters. Jeffrey Lord and Kayleigh McEnany and Paris Dennard are faces that come to my mind right away.
I was thinking of something like ‘The View’ and some others, however, those 3 people you mention I think are alright, but even with them and CNN it’s often very stacked against them I think.

I haven’t listened to much of them, but I have heard of Kayleigh McEnany and I think she makes some excellent points, I didn’t know she was with CNN.

God Bless

Thank you for reading
Josh
