McCarthy rips Pelosi, says Dems were 'preoccupied with impeachment instead of protecting this country'

Here in America, Pelosi was doing her own virtue-signaling, coronavirus-spreading tour of Chinatown in her San Francisco district as late as Feb. 24.
Look at Pelosi huddled in a crowd, reassuringly holding the hands of a woman she was talking to outside of a Chinese gift shop. No gloves and no hand sanitizer were in sight as she did exactly the wrong things to stop the spread of coronavirus.
“It’s exciting to be here, especially at this time, to be able to be unified with our community,” the House speaker said while encircled by supporters and media.
That’s right — Pelosi was not only shaking hands and spending time in crowds, but she was also urging folks to flock to Chinatown.
“We want to be vigilant about what is out there in other places. We want to be careful about how we deal with it, but we do want to say to people, ‘Come to Chinatown, here we are — we’re, again, careful, safe — and come join us.
As of Thursday afternoon, San Francisco had 434 confirmed cases and seven deaths from COVID-19 and California was close to 10,000 total infections, according to Johns Hopkins.
And yet Pelosi is attacking Trump for not taking the threat seriously enough as her pals in the media are silent about her hypocrisy
”When the president instituted a ban on travel from China, where the virus originated and quickly raged out of control while state-controlled Chinese media downplayed it, leftists were decrying the actions of Trump and others who tried to contain the risk by cutting it off at the source.
One such was detractor was fellow Democrat Joe Biden. The presidential candidate and former vice president tweeted just one day after the travel ban went into effect, “We are in the midst of a crisis with the coronavirus. We need to lead the way with science — not Donald Trump’s record of hysteria, xenophobia, and fear-mongering. He is the worst possible person to lead our country through a global health emergency.”

When do you think that social distancing measures were warranted?
Did those measure apply to Chinatown or other places as well?
What information was your thinking based on?

NYC should have been the very first city to implement moderate social distancing, they are the most at-risk metropolitan area with high density and high use of crowded public transportation. They should be proactive towards any potential pandemics already in the USA, not reactive.

First week of March for NYC general public,​

NY care facilities should have restricted visitation in early February​

Can I ask, what else can a speaker do besides pass a bi partisan bill and forward it to the Senate?
I keep trying to find something but it seems only Mitch can at that point a year before the pandemic.
Is this one of those bills Mitch sat on for a year or more and did nothing? I think it is.

But they are a special city due to their crowding and transit, they shouldn’t need to wait for it to show up in their hospitals to know it’s going to show up. As soon as it was anywhere in the continental USA, you have confidence it’s going to hit NYC, so make it a yellow alert for all to practice good hand hygiene and increase isolation if you are immune compromised…

In late January, when it was found in WA care facilities.

I now really think we’ll need a national early warning system that triggers a degree of lock down on care facilities be it a new virus or a strong flu strain not covered with the annual shot. It will be inconvenient, but it will also save many lives while the actual scope of the threat is being clarified.

That didn’t imply, at that stage, a special sensitivity.
Not all virus have this characteristic.
 
All the New York City leaders were too busy telling everyone to enjoy getting together for the parade in Chinatown, in restaurants, movies, etc… It’s costly when Leftists just want to contradict President Trump, no matter what he says. This came right after Trump’s travel ban of foreign travelers from China.

And why didn’t New York City shut down their subway system earlier?

Cuomo gave us an answer. He didn’t claim perfection or call perfection denying media names.
The ," body politic," was not yet ready to shut down the ( city that never sleeps.)
Trump could have been honest also. New Yorkers accept candid. So do Americans in general.
You are defending a guy claiming perfection with facts of explanation that is human.

I would probably agree with the article and you. Now, how are nurses supposed to get to work to see patients? (The previous picture was of Chicago, by the way.)
 
NYC is not Montana. Thing is, with reopening, there is no getting around commuting like Sardines in NYC. AND NYC is the financial capital of the world, without which there is limited commerce

Again, these are not just some random people. These are HEALTH authorities in New York City, the epicenter. I fear that they felt they were going to get praised for contradicting Trump at the time. But, instead, they encouraged spreading the virus with everyone on top of each other.
