Melania Trump is the first Catholic first lady since Jackie Kennedy

I can only speak for myself, but I think this would be a wonderful example for the entire world.

However, I would hope that it would be done in a very open way, fully explaining why and how the Church is acting in accord with its principles and rules so that people aren’t left with the impression that you can “get a divorce in the Catholic Church if you have enough money,” which is something I’ve heard more than once.

But I have a hard time imagining Trump submitting himself to the authority of anyone or anything, even the Church.

I think you actually have to attend Mass in order for it to be possible to receive communion…

and since she doesn’t go to Mass, I guess the answer to your question is…

Nope.
So why the Pelosi post you linked of mine from years ago?

It shows the hypocrisy.

“I get to say that it’s ok to deny someone communion, but I don’t like it when people act like the communion police”.

Until their son completes his schooling (at the Episcopal school) this semester?
Until he completes the current school year at Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

He will attend St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Potomac, MD this fall after he moves from New York to Washington with his mother.

First lady Melania Trump said in a statement:

“We are very excited for our son to attend St. Andrew’s Episcopal School. It is known for its diverse community and commitment to academic excellence. The mission of St. Andrew’s is ‘to know and inspire each child in an inclusive community dedicated to exceptional teaching, learning, and service,’ all of which appealed to our family. We look forward to the coming school years at St. Andrew’s.”

The school’s website says it strives to educate students “in an inclusive environment that embodies the faith and perspective of the Episcopal Church.”

Public scandal is another issue don’t you think? Melania is not Communing in a Catholic Church while speaking against Church doctrine and teachings.

We don’t even know if she’s Catholic yet, that could be “Fake News”

Not even close. No one was demanding Pelosi submit a baptismal certificate. They simply said she gives scandal to publically proclaiming teachings contrary to the faith in black and white. She risks leading people into sin by her words and actions. If Melania overtly does the same, we can have that discussion. Bishops have refused public figures communion before.

All it appears to be with Melania is an obsession to see if she is actually Catholic, with some suggesting it would be a bad thing.

The entire world should in theory be Catholic. They should live in accord with the Church’s teachings as well.

I can’t see Christ reading this topic and advocating for the side that seems to be on a witch hunt. I can see him urging her through the Holy Spirit to embrace the faith, as He does all of us.

Very nicely stated, Wedge Antilles.

What are you trying to say?

Are we agreed that it’s weird to say that Melania is Catholic when she doesn’t attend Mass, is married to a man who ISN’T FREE to marry her, didn’t baptize her son in the Catholic Church?

I’d like to hear some honesty from you and hear you say: yes, PR. I acknowledge that it’s weird to say that Melania is Catholic especially if she doesn’t attend Mass.

And yes, it’s weird to say that she’s a Catholic because she holds a rosary and had it blessed.

That would be a nice, honest and noble post to see. 🙂

Well said!~

And she has done just that, Wedge.

Marrying a man WHO CANNOT BE MARRIED TO HER, in an Episcopal church, while using birth control…is publically proclaiming teachings contrary to the faith.

Surely you see that, yeah?

Seriously? Go back to the old thread thread read every one of my comments then get back to me…What you asserting here in this post is one of desperation, trying to hold on to an argument t you know you have already lost. As with the other thread I am out of here as there is no reasonable chance of having a rational discussion .

Still waiting for you to answer my question…
Your question? Directed to me on this thread?

Can you reference me back to it?

Something with, perhaps a question mark attached to it would have been helpful. 🙂

I always find that when people are backed into a corner with logic, they love to run away.

“We can criticize Nancy Pelosi but criticism of Baby Catholic Melania is just unforgiveness in action!”

It seems to me that this forum has gone from a Catholic forum to a mostly republican conservative forum with sometimes Catholic leanings (there are more forums about Trump this or politician this than actual faith discussion). If the Catholic part has to be twisted to benefit Republican party then it’s okay. Hence we’ll ignore divorce and remarriage (AKA adultery in Catholic teaching) in this issue and minimize a man assaulting a reporter and then lying about the incident and being totally discredited by eye witnesses. BUT remember the reporter deserved it because he was liberal and liberals are worse or something.

The political idolatry on this forum is at an all time high it is not reflective of the gospel, but rather reflective of how in the US we have allowed politics to poison our faith so thoroughly.

Egg-zactly.

Or we can be reasonable and say: divorce and remarriage is adultery for putatively prolife politicians and their wives as well as for prochoice politicians and spouses.

Living one’s faith is required for both putatively prolife politicians and their wives as well as for prochoice politicians and spouses.

Birth control is wrong for both prolife politicians as well as prochoice politicians.

(And substitute Democrat and Republican for the above, too.)
