Yeah, the only thing is though Homers…I’d wonder why my husband would think that an annual ob/gyn exam would be violating the vows we made. I would wonder about him, put it that way, but I wouldn’t argue over it.

I have seen a female dr now for years, and I always try to find the best in their field, no matter where I’ve lived. I think that for some, maybe only the best are men, where they live–could very well be. It’s hard to judge, unless you know for sure. There aren’t tons of good docs on every street corner…not in this field, anyways. Lots of med mal claims because of botched deliveries, etc…it’s hard to find a good ob/gyn…and sometimes, that ‘good’ one is male.

Consider other people’s perspectives a little Homers…don’t jump to judgement–that’s all we ask on here. 🙂

G’night for real now!!

Well, your point is quite concieved. However, we’re all human, and full of emotions, and feelings and at the end of the day we all have to go home to our spouses, being able to look into the eyes of your spouse, saying that I did all I could do to fight the good fight, and to limit one’s exposure and chances of any improprieties from occurring.
Well I’m glad you feel good about yourself then, even if what you’re doing is as much use as a bicycle is to a fish.

You look in the eyes of a roomful of rape victimes - the majority of whom would’ve been repeatedly raped by a spouse or partner - and ask them whether having a female gynaecologist would’ve made them one iota safer 🤷

Yes, you do have a double standard. There is every bit as much danger from being exposed to someone of the same sex who is gay as someone of the opposite sex, so why is sex an issue? I doubt that you’ve ever asked most if any of your male doctors whether they’re gay, have you?

Plus, you’re assuming that physical overpowerment is a necessity.

A lot of assaults that I’ve seen reported have happened on patients while they were sedated - it’s far easier. You ever been given gas to numb you in the dentist’s chair? Ever been put under sedation or anaesthetic by any other doctor? Makes you a heck of a lot more vulnerable than most woman, even naked ones, if they aren’t sedated. And no gynae exams are done under anaesthetic - only surgeries/births, where loads of nurses, relatives etc are present making the likelihood insignificant.
Sorry, nope, I don’t think I do have a double standard. Typically, most of the male doctors I’ve seen have pictures of their kids and wife throughout their office. It is far less likely that two people of the same sex (if one of them is strictly plutonic) of anything occurring.

Agreed, most of assualts by doctors do unfortunately occur when a patient is sedated, and yes I have been sedated before, but never under general anesthesia.

The bond between a husband and wife is very special because each has pledged themselves to the other. This bond is strengthened and encouraged by the modesty of the couple. Saving some things to be admired solely by one’s spouse gives a sense of privilege, honor and intimacy.

Anytime a person exposes their body to a member of the opposite sex they take away a part of the marriage intimacy and chance weakening the bonds between a husband and wife.

This intimacy is further weakened by the encouragement of the medical establishment for women to expect to be examined intimately and for a woman to reveal intimate thoughts to a male doctor, regardless of the reason for the visit to the doctor.

I’ve got to hand it to you, you make me laugh. Presidents Kennedy and Clinton both undoubtedly had loads of pictures of their wives and children all over the place - didn’t make them one little bit faithful to their spouses.

What, as opposed to two people of the OPPOSITE sex if one is strictly platonic? Strictly platonic means the same thing in same-sex and opposite-sex situations - that there are slim chances of something happening.

Then you’ve been every bit as good a candidate for abuse as anyone. If you are genuinely worried about safety, then insist on going without sedation. 🤷

lol to your first paragraph. Sedated yes, but I am a male. The doctor can do to me what they want to me…, but when it comes to my wife, that is a different story.

Oh spare me - anytime a person MEETS a member of the opposite sex - in any context - they take away a part of the marriage intimacy and chance weakening the bonds between husband and wife. Are you going to put your wife into total seclusion?

It’s a matter of life and death, not a choice - women NEED regular pap smears and breast exams to detect and treat cancer, and they need GOOD ob/gyns, be they male or female. And pray tell what ‘intimate thoughts’ am I going to tell a gynaecologist? My thoughts are none of their business.

It’s absolutely sick of you to try to imply there’s some sort of concerted plot on the part of the medical establishment here. Doctors (apart from psychiatrists, who you can’t just see on a whim) have more than enough to do treating people’s bodies without concerning themselves about their patients’ ‘intimate lives’

It’s hardly respectful to your wife to put her husband at risk of abuse - you think if you were abused it wouldn’t affect her? Probably as deeply as being abused herself? Very narrow-sighted of you.

Been through a lot of material to see what Gyn would feel while he is examining an attractive female.

The most realistic I have read is this page :
books.google.com/books?id=p144xuNo0aEC&printsec=frontcover&dq=gynecologist+confession&sig=ACfU3U3dk–zSVPup5AgApC5vD6i2rEunw#PPA384,M1
How on earth can a handful of persons individual views possibly represent ‘reality’? How many male gynaecologists are there, and what percentage of them have reported similar feelings?

Statistics don’t lie - opinions are often sensationalised.

Surely there are just as competent female doctors out there as well. If doctors have more to do then worry about the intimate lives of their patients, then why have so many of them crossed the line???

We need to stop assuming that the medical industry can do anything. Medical professionals often do things such as abortions that are against God’s will.

I encourage you to look at Leviticus 18. It prohibits you to be naked in front of the opposite sex. It is strange that women are told as kids after a certain age that they cannot let men including their fathers see them. Then they are told later that they need to submit to intimate exams by a male doctor. That’s sickening. Male gynecologists are not above men morally. They are men like other men.

Take off the blinkers. You try living in a rural area and finding a female doctor - of ANY level of competence - let alone one who by good fortune specialist in obstetrics or gynaecology as opposed to other areas of medicine. Rare as hen’s teeth.

So many? Where are your statistics proving that more doctors ‘cross the line’ than teachers, lawyers, architects or politicians?

Yes, unfortunately some teachers have also crossed the line which is a scary thought.

No, the medical profession isn’t perfect (and by the way, most of the doctors I know are extremely pro-life - more so than any other profession in fact). Doesn’t mean they’re evil incarnate either.

NEED to submit to exams by a male doctor? Not at all - your own wife is proof of that. Although I wish women and men WERE forced (although not to a doctor of the opposite gender if that’s an issue for them), in the same way that children are forced to have their vaccines!

You cannot possibly compare the murder of innocent unborn babies (abortion) to tests (pap smears, prostate exams and mammograms among others) that are proven to save many men’s and women’s lives every year by detecting cancers.

And far too many women and men don’t go, not to male or female doctor, out of some ridiculous sense of embarrassment over their own bodies that God gave them.

Adam and Eve became ashamed and covered themselves up only after and because of their sin. Christ came in human form - having a body as we do. The human body, although not to be exposed willy-nilly, is neither a shameful nor evil thing since He has hallowed it by taking on human form, rather it is a masterpiece of God’s creation.
Male gynecologists are not above men morally. They are men like other men.
Like husbands? Why expect your wife to trust you with anything then, let alone her ‘intimate thoughts’, since you are every bit as capable, and more likely, to use them against her and abuse her than any doctor.

And I’ve done plenty in my life that’s against God’s will, too. It’s called sin. Medical professionals do not have the market cornered on that. Every professional in every industry has done things against God’s will. For all have sinned…

And again I see the discrimination, you are presuming that what one medical professional does is what all of them do.

It seems to me that a lot of women of this thread are way to quick to accept the excuse that they live in a rural area, before deciding to hop into the car and drive to the next town or city.

It also seems to me that the topic of this thread is a very sensitive to a lot of them as they seem to try to defend their decisions as like they had no other choice.

I did. It lists a whole lot of people I can’t have intercourse with. And says I can’t have intercourse with animals. Or offer any of my offspring to Molech.

It’s all about intercourse. Nothing about being naked in front of the opposite sex.

Personally, I would feel more comfortable with my wife being naked in a room with some men then with some women. Take a physician like, oh, St. Luke. I’d trust her more with him then a female doctor who performs abortions.

I presume to roll with the odds, which is all I am saying. The right to chose, and the right to privacy.
