Lily…Yes, I would still be adverse to my wife stripping down to her underwear (no bra) for a male doctor for a complete skin exam, unless I was present. And certainly yes to any breast exam, etc. My wife recently had a CT scan of her abdomin being done by a male tech, who asked her to remove her bra and to place on the gown. He further said that he may have to have a “female” nurse place a pointer if necessary. Untrustworthy, pherhaps, but trust is earned.
Surgery, yes…but in my wifes case, 1.) I would want her present during the procedure for me, 2.) and me present for her.
Sure, my concern extends to [male nurses}. Would I refuse treatment by a [female nurse}, well I guess that question would depend… I would definitely not want a female nurse inserting or checking a foley without my wife around, etc.
Ok, you are seriously paranoid. Of course she had to remove her bra for the CT of her abdomen, that’s standard protocol for radiology imaging. Her bra probably contained some kind of metal in it (underwire?) and we take no chances with bras because it will mess up the pictures of chest xrays and abdominal xrays and CTs.
Second, as far as foley insertion goes, we female nurses find no joy in shoving a rubber hose down a penis, but it’s part of our job sometimes so we do it. We feel bad for the patient’s because we know it hurts. And honestly, about just “checking the foley” you’d want your wife around, seriously, we are not perverts in the medical field. So if you are stuck in the ER for several hours and your wife had to go home and you had a female nurse taking care of you, you wouldn’t let her just check your foley??? Are you serious? Are you mad?? LOL, it’s almost funny because you are blowing this up to be much bigger then it is. And just because you read a couple of people’s opinions on the matter it doesn’t make it fact. You can find anything on the internet to say what you want it to say. Doesn’t make it true!
I am incredibly offended as a medical professional by your posts and as a woman that sees a male reproductive endocrinologist. He was known as one of the best in his field and I went to him and was, God forbid, “scandalous” to “submit myself and my private parts” to him.

Well, guess what? He was the one, that after I saw 3 other doctors, one of whom was a woman, finally got me to get pregnant. He was a blessing to my husband and I that now we are finally gonna be parents after all these years.
To the rest of the people, we might as well just forget about this thread. It’s almost like he is a troll on this thread by continuously instigating us all. We should just let this thread go. We as women know what we must do or go see to take care of our bodies, we shouldn’t let an insecure man tell us differently.
Oh, and for the record, in the ER I work at we do quite a bit of pelvic exams as they do in all ERs and not ONE male doctor or physician assistant that I’ve chaperoned(sp?) with has enjoyed it. In fact, we all HATE it. Pelvic exams are not fun, joyful or stimulating in the least. It’s just another invasive procedure that needs done at times, like a prostate exam or colonoscopy. The men make a point to get in and get out ASAP with the pelvic exams.
Just because you read a couple perverted accounts of men, don’t assume we are all like that or that the number is “high”. This is your own ASSUMPTION and you know what they say about assuming.

Until you get some actual HARD NUMBERS on paper then all you have is speculation and opinion.
So go ahead and be paranoid, but it’s a shame you and your wife might miss out on some real good medical care just because you are paranoid about members of the opposite sex seeing your genitalia. Honestly, for us medical professionals, we see so much genitalia in a SINGLE DAY that we get blind to it, so to speak, over time and don’t even pay it any mind.
So you need to seriously quite making the women on this forum feel bad about seeing a male OB/GYN. What they do is their decision and you need to stop with your incessent bantering because seeing a male OB/GYN doesn’t invade your modesty, for crying out loud.
It’s laughable to say that it is because I know how it TRULY goes in the medical field first hand, but yet you take the opinions of a few perverts over the several accounts of those in the medical field here on the forums. Why are you spending so much time trying to find accounts of perverts on pelvic exams?? Seriously, do you have nothing better to do with your time then to worry over something so ridiculous??
