There really shouldn’t be a need for men’s rights or women’s rights at all. The need for these gender-specific rights only exist as a result of our society’s need to break down God’s natural law and create a system that is more pleasing to our current social expectations. Furthermore, at the end of the day, these gender-specific rights start to take priority over the basic human rights that are common to all human beings (such as our right to life).

To go further down the path of gender-specific rights would be the wrong thing to do. What we have to do is to fight the existing feminist movement that exists in the church and restore natural law and allow the gender’s to exist in the way that God has intended them to exist.

It’s one of Satan’s great traps to think that the answers to the problems in our lives is to exert even more control over things that should be left to God… this just needlessly adds torment to our lives and ultimately makes the problems that we were trying to solve that much worse… 😦
You raise a good point. The reason why I mentioned men’s rights is because I thought that it would be the balance against radical feminism.

Problem is, there are those who hijacked the Second Wave and turned it into a quest for equal economic outcomes rather than equal economic opportunities.
Lol, it’s not even really about that any more, it’s about more power for women. Like for instance in the “pay gap” myth which has been debunked for a while now,

cbsnews.com/8301-505125_162-28246928/the-gender-pay-gap-is-a-complete-myth/

feminists simply ignore this and continue to promote this canard to get more power. We’ve seen this recently in some ads run though the Obama campaign mailing list saying that “the pay gap is not a myth”, trying to court the woman vote and promote their new “fairness” act.

breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/06/04/Obama-ecards-sexism-pay-gap
The Paycheck Fairness Act has actually been stalled by the Democratic Senate because it’s so restrictive. It places the burden on businesses to show why wage discrepancies aren’t based on sexism, rather than on employees to show that such discrepancies are based on sexism. It would also dedicate oodles of taxpayer cash toward studying the mythical pay gap.
MRA can see this, that feminists now don’t care about “equality”, which is why they look to the feminists’ professed desire for “equality”. How could they even do that if there weren’t some inequalities?

WELL SAID!!!👍👍

It’s not a competition. If you really want a group than start one. Feminism asks for equality not superiority. Women throughout the world and throughout history have been the ones discriminated against thats why efforts to raise the dignity of women is mentioned more often. There are parts of the world where women have no rights. The Church does not just speak to the western world where women’s legal rights are now protected. The Church does not place women above men and vise versa.
 Where do I begin?

  1. Why do women get less of a prison sentence for the same crime?
  2. Why do women not get drafted? Who is being discriminated against here?
  3. Why is it funny in the movies to see a male get kicked in the genitalia? What would be said about the reverse?
4)Why is it ok for some women to be sexual predators? See O’ reilly for pieces on that score.
5)Shall we compare the amount of monies spent on Breast augmentation as opposed to Prostate Cancer Research? Where is our Komen’s Foundation?
6)Why is it ok for female reporters to go into men’ s locker rooms to get the story after the big game but not the reverse for women’s volleyball?
  4. Why does my gym have a seperate female section but not a seperate Male section?
  5. Why is pervasive genital mutilation of male children permitted (circumsision) in this country? What deep rooted Psychological trauma does that produce?
  6. Why is it that throughout the bulk of History man has been to *forced *into slavery, to be the ‘primary material provider’ while women get to stay at home and be with the Children? Then only to be accused of discriminating against women because they have a …ahem…career?
  7. Why is it thought that men only start wars? Hello? Maggie Thatcher! Right! Let’s bomb the Falklands! Queen Elizabeth? Many others.
11)Why are more men **in **prison than women?
12)Why is it ok for a woman to slap a man whenever she feels justified and not have it called assault and battery?
  8. Why should my tax monies go for her abortions and birth control due to *her *life style choices?
  9. Why does a woman have the right to abort my child? Where is my say? Hello! Was not I also a co - creator of the child?:mad:
  10. Why is it at Pro - life rallys I only see signs that say “Women deserve better!”
  11. Why does a woman get to hide behind a screen when she accuses a man of Rape? Where is the right to face one’s accusers?
  12. Why do male nurses claim discrimination as a male nurse when they are continually thought of as movers of furniture and hospital beds? Or to get something that is high above a woman’s reach?
  13. Shall we even begin to address the disparate inequality in regard to Alimony and Palimony? Between just who gets discriminated against in the courts in terms of child custody?

Just my opinion but this thread and posts like this only further cause division between men and women. Before we go blaming women for all of these things, I would like to bring up the Book of Genesis. Adam was a coward for blaming Eve for the Fall, instead of owning up to his own faults, especially when it was his job to protect the Garden in the first place. How many of these unjustices brought up, on both sides of the argument, can be solely blamed on one sex. Answer: none of them.

God created man and woman differently, but with the same dignity. Our society should reflect this, but just as in the Garden, we are a broken people. In general men and women have different talents, none of which are more dignified than the others. I believe saying man and woman are completely the same is wrong, however saying one sex is superior is equally wrong.

My point is this: God created us to complement each other, to come together with our own unique talents. But using our differences to tear each other down is Satan’s work, my friends.
Stop playing the blame game and strive for charity and unity. After all, man and woman were created for unity, physically and spiritually, to unite in the image of God.

Just my opinion but this thread and posts like this only further cause division between men and women.
No kidding! As a woman, I feel the hostility and accusatory nature of the previous post leaping off the screen at me. There HAS been societal abuse and oppression of women; that is why there was a feminist movement to begin with. Why should a Christian man NOT want a woman to be treated with the equal respect of a man? My husband IS the head of our household, but he has never once lorded over me–I respect and honor him all the more for that. He does not feel any threat of feminism, and as a law enforcement officer who works with female officers, he sees the women being equal every day (bullets hurt a female every bit as much as a male when the criminals are attacking!)

I don’t understand this Christian male need to get women to submit. Honestly, it is very uncharitable. If you lead your household with love and respect, your wife will find it easy to be your partner in this life. If you are not married, well, wives submitting to their husbands is really none of your business.

Yes perhaps it’s best you should. However to call it pathetic because there exists an opposite sex and we are tired of being ignored and cast aside in the Western world as if we are a worthless piece of meat…shows how little you care for your fellow man.

Just because men are worried about our rights, doesn’t make us pathetic.
Many men are honest and secure enough to acknowledge the fact that historically, women have gotten the worst deal and many are still getting a rotten deal. JPII set this out very clearly. Who are these poor men who are “tired of being ignored…cast aside …as…a worthless piece of meat”? Sure, some men are abused by women but if this was a competition, let’s compare figures.

Bold Lettering mine:

It is not a matter of blaming wonderous women. Not by any means It is not hostility. It is frustration! It is lamentation! . Women I have the** highest** regard for. Rather it is to highlight the inequalities that are present today. My cause is not against women, it is to champion the flag of men’s rights to Feminists. Let us never equate the two.
Is it not Feminists that promote abortion? Is it not Feminists that have completely nullified the right of men to not have their children aborted? Is it not feminists that place carreer over the wonderous value of mother hood?

No. I am not trying to get women to submit to men either. This seems to be a knee jerk reaction whenever Men’s rights are discussed. I am curious about that as well. However I note that - If men all behaved like St. Joeseph methinks there would never have been a need for feminism. I do indeed place much blame for much of the deterioration of society on men. On Hugh Hefner. On advertising Agencies. I could go on and on of course.

No. I wish to see the Model of the Holy Family take up it’s rightful place in our society. Yea, I *dare *say I would like to see the Holy Family Model take up it’s rightful place in our very own Mother Church!

However. I would indeed like to see the writtings of Saint Paul elucidated and pontificated upon to clear up any confusion. Much discussion needs to take place here methinks.

  1. Why is pervasive genital mutilation of male children permitted (circumsision) in this country? What deep rooted Psychological trauma does that produce?
I’m wondering what sort of deep-rooted psychological trauma I’m supposed to have experienced because my parents had me circumcised just after birth because, well, that’s just what folks did in the US at the time. I’m pretty sure I turned out okay, though I suppose if I did have deep-rooted psychological trauma from circumcision, I’d be one of the last to know. 🤷

Dude, seriously? This is a bad joke, right? Do you have kids?

@lifeandhope - I agree with a lot of what you say, but you lost me here. Calls to charity are not supported by generalizations like this.

Suffice it to say that the Church calls for the respect of all human dignity and doesn’t trouble itself with the tit-for-tat “women get this, so why don’t men” (or vice versa) business.

Bravo! I was also accused of “ignoring women’s injustice in history” No I accept it, but once again it’s a pitiful argument, just like I should accept black people belittling me over slavery.

Did my family every own slaves - No
Did my family ever profit from slavery - No
Did my family ever lived in America during the time of slavery - No

and I will say the same to women.

Did I ever abuse a woman - No
Did I ever do anything to restrict women’s civil rights - No

Ok, good…so STOP BLAMING ME for past injustices that have nothing to do with me.

I really shouldn’t bother with responding to any of this, but…
  1. Why do women get less of a prison sentence for the same crime?
It’s really up to the judge. If you want someone to blame, blame the judges who have these double standards, not women.
  1. Why do women not get drafted? Who is being discriminated against here?
My country (Canada) doesn’t have a draft, so I would question why anyone would have to be drafted, but I’m assuming it’s due to a bunch of factors: the limited roles women have in the military (there’s only so much need for support staff), the perceived inability of women to handle combat situations.
  1. Why is it funny in the movies to see a male get kicked in the genitalia? What would be said about the reverse?
Double standards, again.
4)Why is it ok for some women to be sexual predators? See O’ reilly for pieces on that score.
Um, it’s not?
5)Shall we compare the amount of monies spent on Breast augmentation as
opposed to Prostate Cancer Research? Where is our Komen’s Foundation?
Over here, I’m constantly seeing ads for prostate cancer. There’s also the Prostate Cancer Foundation and the American Cancer Society’s section on prostate cancer: cancer.org/Cancer/ProstateCancer/index
6)Why is it ok for female reporters to go into men’ s locker rooms to get the story after the big game but not the reverse for women’s volleyball?
Is this a common practice? Why can’t they just wait outside the locker room?
  1. Why does my gym have a seperate female section but not a seperate Male section?
Because the rest of the gym is ‘the male section’.
  1. Why is pervasive genital mutilation of male children permitted (circumsision) in this country? What deep rooted Psychological trauma does that produce?
Disregarding the fact that for some, it’s a part of their religion, my guess is misinformation regarding the health of the practice.
  1. Why is it that throughout the bulk of History man has been to *forced *into slavery, to be the ‘primary material provider’ while women get to stay at home and be with the Children? Then only to be accused of discriminating against women because they have a …ahem…career?
Historically, women were not paid enough to support themselves, if they were allowed to work at all. Why is it that women have been forced to stay at home with the kids, told that out there is “a man’s world” and denied the opportunity to pursue a career? Why is it that women are expected to stay at home, doing the (unpaid) equivalent of THREE FULL TIME JOBS? Why are “house husbands” and “stay-at-home dads” derided as not being “real men” because they choose to stay at home while their spouse works?
  1. Why is it thought that men only start wars? Hello? Maggie Thatcher! Right! Let’s bomb the Falklands! Queen Elizabeth? Many others.
Maybe because men make up the bulk of the military? Again, there’s a double standard in play that says that women (being “naturally nurturing”) don’t have the backbone it takes to start wars. This also makes them ineffectual as leaders. It’s all a bunch of BS, of course.
11)Why are more men **in **prison than women?
Maybe because more men commit crimes? Men are more likely to have the opportunity to commit crimes, combine that with being socialized to be more aggressive and competitive (men who show sensitivity are “sissies” and “effeminate”, remember).
12)Why is it ok for a woman to slap a man whenever she feels justified and not have it called assault and battery?
That’s due to a misogynist perception that a man should be able to control “his” woman, so female-on-male violence is more likely to be overlooked because a man who can be dominated by the “weaker” sex obviously needs to “man up”.
  1. Why should my tax monies go for her abortions and birth control due to *her *life style choices?
Why do my tax dollars pay for publicly funded Catholic schools? I don’t use a car, why do my tax dollars pay for paved roads?
  1. Why does a woman have the right to abort my child? Where is my say? Hello! Was not I also a co - creator of the child?:mad:
Tell you what? Let’s make a baby together. I’ll carry it for four and a half months, and then we’ll transfer it to your belly and you can do the same. We can both share the pain of giving birth, no problem!

Oh, and when the child is born, we can evenly split parenting duties. Society expects both partners to split childcare, anyways, so when he or she is sick in the night, you can clean up their puke and sing it lullabies while I sleep. It’s not as if society expects me, as a mother, to do all that “nurturing” stuff.

Oh, wait, last I checked, women have to carry that baby around for nine months, women are also expected to do the bulk of the work once that baby comes out. If her partner leaves her, hey, it’s no sweat off his back!

Come back when men can get pregnant, then we’ll talk.
  1. Why is it at Pro - life rallys I only see signs that say “Women deserve better!”
See my response to question 14.
  1. Why does a woman get to hide behind a screen when she accuses a man of Rape? Where is the right to face one’s accusers?
Um, maybe because she DOESN’T WANT TO FACE THE MAN WHO ABUSED HER?! Abuse triggers, have you heard of them?!
  1. Why do male nurses claim discrimination as a male nurse when they are continually thought of as movers of furniture and hospital beds? Or to get something that is high above a woman’s reach?
I’ve never heard of a case of a male nurse whining about discrimination because of furniture. I have heard of people assuming that male nurses were doctors (because nursing is a “woman’s profession”) and female doctors being mistaken for nurses.
Besides, women don’t necessarily need men to fetch things for them, stepladders, anyone?
  1. Shall we even begin to address the disparate inequality in regard to Alimony and Palimony? Between just who gets discriminated against in the courts in terms of child custody?
Shall we even begin to address the fact that the reason men typically pay child support and women are granted custody is because the men have been abusing their spouses and children, or simply abandoned them?
19)Heyyyyyyyyyyyyy… Wait a minute… Just what is this ‘Women First’ bit in the sinking ‘Titanic’ situations?
Well, you see, back when women wore those cumbersome skirts, if they fell in the water and didn’t have help, THEY WOULD DROWN! Other than that, it’s a stupid sexist rule that says men are “expendable” and women are vulnerable and must be “protected”.

Thanks for pointing out some double standards, the rest is misogynistic dreck from a privileged group whining about how they’re being forced to give up some of their privilege, though.

Also, feminism isn’t monolithic. I know there are lots of people on this board who seem to think that every feminist is a carping ball-buster, but that’s simply not true.

Oh boy what juicy morsels to address! I just wish I had the time! I will address one for now tho-

Thank you for this oppurtunity to elevate your social conscious quotient in this matter. I note as well once again - the knee jerk reaction that occurs when discussing Men’s rights. It is assumed that it is anti - woman. Isn’t that interesting!

Again, a lot of good points here, so I’ll only address the one with which I have a serious issue.

This is, frankly, an insult to all the dads/husbands who “do the right thing” - care for their wives throughout the pregnancy, work hard to support their families, also get up in the middle of the night to take care of their children when they cry/are sick/et c.

My wife and I have a son. When he was inside her, he was still our son, not her “developing cellular mass” or whatever it’s in vogue to call babies these days that makes them sound like a disease so we can feel better about aborting them (never even a remote consideration for us, by the by). When he gets sick or cranky, he’s still our son. Does she bear most of the child-rearing duties? Yes, because we both agreed that it would be best for her to stay home and raise him, since my job is better paying and her job would basically cover us paying someone else to raise him. If she was bring home the bigger paycheck, it’d be me at home with him.

Do some men treat women terribly and abandon their children? Yes. Are there millions of other men who support their wives throughout pregnancy and help raise their children? Yes.

The notion that fathers not only have no say whatsoever in the fate of their children, but, as you imply, shouldn’t even be able to discuss it because men “can’t get pregnant” is, quite simply, abhorrent.

Good reply. However in view of well, IMHO, the church reeling from the Feminist assaults on Mother Church via abortion, Female priests etc. etc., I would like to hear more on the roles of Males.

Certainly, for example, is circumcison nescessary? This would be a great start.
Um no, circumcision is NOT necessary and hasn’t been for a very very long time…

Yeah, pretty sure Peter and Paul hashed that one out.

Circumcision has been a cultural/“health” issue (not a religious one) for Catholics.

It is not a matter of ‘blaming’ women. It is a matter of highlighting a ‘culture of discrimination’’ against men*.* Why do judges have this pervasive attitude? Ahmmmmmmm? If the reverse were true, Feminists would be in an uproar-yes?

Thank you for this oppurtunity to elevate your social conscious quotient in this matter. I note as well once again - the knee jerk reaction that occurs when discussing Men’s rights. It is assumed that it is anti - woman. Isn’t that interesting!
I would like to see evidence of less jail time for similar convictions.

Perhaps women face different charges, or juries are more sympathetic to women. But do you have evidence that a conviction of “murder 2”, gets a man a harder jail term than a woman?
