God doesn’t have human emotions, so he can understand and not have to feel my emotions to help me. Mary was human, but she still didn’t experience my sinful emotions or those of my children. I can relate to God because I’m his creation, not because he is like me. Mary is supposed to be us in perfected form, but she didnt have to feel any of what we feel. I’m sure you’ll say she did because the holy spirit let her. That sounds like an easy cop out.

I guess that loving mother image is not the one I put much thought into. I guess I’ve always hyperfocused on how would she know how to deal with sin since she never felt it overcome her mothering.

She saw the love of her life being tortured and killed, which was the “sword of sorrow” that Simeon prophecied. You say sinful emotions but there is no such thing. Sin is an act. Mary suffered, and can relate to us.

She does suffer sinful children with us, I suppose, but I mean that’s in a heavenly way. While on Earth, she never suffered raising one. Maybe I’ll embrace this better as time goes on.

Maybe not, but what do you think Mary can’t do for us because of that? Trying to understand

Yes, we are literally her children that Jesus have to her… but I’m sure that if you take your struggles about your children to the feet of Mary she’s not going to have any problem consoling you just because she never raised a sinful child on earth

If she was never tempted to sin by her children’s misbehavior, how can she know what that’s like? It’s easy to say to be like her. We could all be like her, if we weren’t raising sinners as sinners. She didn’t have to resist sin like I do.

Just a thought… do you feel like you have to be exactly who Mary was? My spiritual director talked to me about this one time. We are not being asked to be Mary. We were conceived with Original Sin. So, we cannot be perfect and we cannot be her. And we don’t have to be. She is an example we look toward. And she is a mother who consoles and loves us

I’m not a theologian but I know Christ himself was tempted, so I’m sure Mary was.

And remember this too

Luke 2:48

And when they saw him they were astonished; and his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us so? Behold, your father and I have been looking for you anxiously.”

I definitely feel like she is someone we can talk to, like any other saint. But, her sinlessness makes that awkward for me. It seems too close to being God. I do think there is a common projection that we should be like her as a mother. It’s an impossible ideal.

Pray to St. Monica who dealt with the very sinful St. Augustine, her son. I think she could help you 😀

Which saint is the one to pray to for being annoyed by the whole human race? 😂, I mean any ideas?

When I talk to Mary I know I’m not talking to just any saint. We offer her hyperdulia, extra reverence. But i think that as our Mother were not supposed to relate to her as brother or sister like other saints. I could be misreading what you mean, I’m tired.

St. Jerome was very cynical, he even called people names, and was a hothead. Fed up by humanity. 😀

I think sometimes I missay what I’m saying😂. I wouldn’t think it was challenging to raise Jesus. Where does her insight come from? It’s gotta come from God(possible obviously), not from experience.

Her humility: “behold, the handmaiden of the Lord”.

Why do devils shrink back at the mention of her name? Because of her humility. Humility is Mary’s middle name, and makes her who she is.

Maybe if I put my focus on her humility that would be helpful? Thanks.

Just maybe another way to look at it would be to pray for patience. Asking the intercession of St. Francis de Sales.
