And this I say, not because I have anything against Michael V. himself, who in all honesty used to to share news here about Brother Jay , so will always be very grateful for that and his kindness, and whose site I visited once only.
Who’s Brother Jay?

Babaganoush:
I’ve heard it, but that is about all.
I used to own a copy of Christopher A. Ferrara’s book EWTN: A Network Gone Wrong. However, I don’t have it anymore.
That’s one I don’t understand. Anyone who can say that EWTN is Protestant doesn’t watch their Mass or enough EWTN programming.

I’m a cradle Catholic, but in my opinion, some of the best Catholics are ex-evangelicals.

Wait, what? Michael Voris used to participate here on CAF? 'Cause I don’t think @Church_Militant is Voris…

A religious who used to be quite active here but hasn’t been recently because of health difficulties.

Yes…unless I am very mistaken, and he posted as Church Militant here.

He is a Franciscan for life who used to post here as JReducation.
You may look for his posts. He was so very knowledgeable and helped a lot here.

I do recall that an employee and/or follower of Voris used to post here. This would have been near the time I joined, so maybe 8-10 years ago? (Not sure how long I’ve been hanging out here.) I remember because there was some bickering over some of the things this person was posting. I don’t know that I have seen Voris here, but you never know who you are talking to on line.

Now I am not sure , Grace…
It was what I inferred through posts here, but I may have grasped it wrong .
And kept that kind image.
Yes, TMC, it was that long ago …Time passes!

Voris isn’t the only person who thinks Vatican II was a bad idea, or that there are problems with the novus ordo.
I know. Does the name Christopher A. Ferrara ring a bell?
Ferrara is an attorney who joined up with a suspended priest, now deceased, to oppose then Pope Benedict. They tried to get the (mostly atheist) EU government to apply legal/political pressure on the Vatican because Ferrara felt St JP2’s consecration of Russia to Mary did meet Ferrara’s requirements. Ferrara and the suspended priest demanded Pope Benedict re-do it, but the pope disobeyed Mr. Ferrara.

So, in effect, Ferrara took the pope to court.

Does anyone care to sum up the orthodox view of the doctrine of no salvation outside the Catholic Church?

I don’t mean the Eastern Orthodox, I mean the orthodox view of the doctrine as opposed to heterodox view.

Just to clarify the Church still holds that there is NO salvation outside the Catholic church.
Also Fr. Feeney was only excommunicated for not going to Rome when asked but he also, according to the Church, had a right to know why he was being called but was not told, which is why he did not go.
In order for his excommunication to be lifted he was told to recite the Athanasius creed. A Catholic and interesting creed that starts out: in order to be saved one must believe all Catholic truths.

What is the point of evangelizing if there is salvation outside the church? Why should people bother convert if they’re fine where they are?
Following Christ is not an investment that one makes in the hopes of getting a positive return in the next life. Following Christ is an endeavor with its own purpose and reward. Being Christian solely in order to improve one’s future condition is a very shallow version of Christianity.

Yes, provided one understands the meaning of this doctrine. The Church does not teach that formal membership in the institution of the Church during life is required for salvation, or that those that fail to convert to Catholicism are damned.

I agree, though I would say Relationship, as well as ongoing endeavor.

I would bet my Grandmother’s sacred quilt that CM was NOT the man in question.
