Just for entertainment purposes, I would like to see that ticket just to watch the liberal media and Bill Maher have psychotic breakdowns live on stage. I would pay money for it.
I’d pay for money for that ticket, too-at least Barry Goldwater was a respectable candidate; that would be 1964 on steroids.

Because Michelle should have known that she would be a member of Congress and a darling of the Tea Party, and therefore never should have been involved with a family that took government money, making her look like a hypocrite 20 years after the fact. …

This whole “Bachman’s family took subsidies” is a guilt by association red herring and is a common logical fallacy. But its one who alot of people who don’t know better fall for all the time.
Most correct, Scott. 👍😛

This whole “Bachman’s family took subsidies” is a guilt by association …
Not exactly:

“Bachmann’s financial disclosure forms indicate her stake in the Wisconsin farm is worth up to $250,000. Her income from the farm has grown from $2,000 a year a few years back to as much as $50,000 for 2008.”
politico.com/blogs/glennthrush/1209/Antisocialist_Bachmann_got_250k_in_federal_farm_subsidies.html

“Even House Speaker John Boehner calls the bill a “slush fund.” The powerful Iowa Farm Bureau suggests that direct payments end, and Glenn Beck is on the bandwagon. Yet many anti-spending tea partiers accept subsidies, including Reps. Vicky Hartzler, R-Mo. ($775,000), Stephen Fincher, R-Tenn. ($2.5 million), and Michele Bachmann, R-Minn ($250,000). Hypocrisy?”

So that is neither a ‘red herring’ nor a logical fallacy. She profits directly from government subsidies, per her congressional financial disclosure form. Those asking for the rest of the story should consider those facts.

A little less condescending is due is your posts, too.

Perhaps you could provide details, since you have the summaries which are not very helpful in understanding the whole story.

For example, did Bachmann APPLY for the subsidies herself? Or did some member of her family apply some years ago? We need to know more. Can you help out here?

It’ll come out in the wash when she starts running in any case.

I really do really hope she’ll be the GOP presidential candidate.

She doesn’t talk about it much.

"Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, an outspoken critic of farm payments, listed between $15,000 and $50,000 in farm income as one source of revenue on her personal financial disclosure statement last year, citing a Bachmann family farm in Independence, Wis., as an asset.

That farm, which was owned by her father-in-law, received more than $250,000 in subsidies over the past 15 years, the EWG reports. A Bachmann spokesman said she is not involved in any operational decisions."

It would be helpful if we quit comapring* her* farm income with* her father in laws* farm subsidies-which appear to run about $16,000 a year.

Check the financial statements she files each year with Congress.

So, she doesn’t talk about it much and you’re not willing to dig around and dig out the real story?

Not acceptable, Beau. Not acceptable.

We know you’re capable of doing better. Not just repeating average checklist questionnaire data, which as you suggested is worthless. Her father-in-law received $250K over 15 years? Come on!!! You can get that much on Social Security!!!

How about this story: over 15 years, farmer Bachmann received less than social security pays, disgraceful situation … And, also, the least you can do is verify the NAME of the alleged farmer.

Com’on … details please, otherwise you’re skirting the edge of detraction or calumny or one of those other terrible sins.

TELL US THE TRUTH.

[Yeah, I know, I can’t handle the truth.]

Ms Bachmann will insure that Mr. Obama slides easily into a second term!!! Run Michele Run!!! And try to get Ms. Palin to run with you. That would be even better!!! You betcha!
👍

So you want them to run becuause you beleieve it will result in the re-election of the most pro-abortion President in History? How do you reconcile that with your profession of being a Catholic?

It’s called “Progessive Catholicism.” In other words, not TRUE Catholicism.😦

I concur; the media will have a feeding frenzy if either Bachmann, Palin or Gingrich run for President or Vice President.

👍

Even as disfunctional as the current GOP appears to be, the party will not allow a fringe candidate like Bachman to head the ticket. Remember that they would not even give her a leadership position in the House, and remember how annoyed the leadership was with her alternative response to the State of the Union. It seems likely, however, that they will have to put a staunch tea party type on the ticket, so Bachman could end up in the VP slot. In other words, we could have an almost exact replay of the last election, with the ticket headed by a traditionally moderate GOP candidate trying to reinvent himself as a true conservative (Romney, perhaps?) and a barely under control but charismatic money raiser in the second spot (like Bachman). If so, look for the same results as last time around.

TRUE Catholics MUST vote Republican. I’m awaiting the official word from the Vatican that voting for any other party is a mortal sin.

Good analysis, and I trust that’s how the scenario will play out.

Although it is common to try and deflect criticism of the democrat party’s anti-Cathilic stances by accusing those who point out these shortcomings as declaring Cathlics must vote republcian, it simply is not true. Party is irelevant. If you can find a Democrat who has not embraced the culture of detah A Catholic can indeed vote for them.

But, working to lower the number of unplanned pregnancies is not enough to removes a politician from the ‘culture of death’, according to our conservative friends. A politician must both ignore settled precedent and be in favor of a law headed for striking down by the supreme court in order to please those right-wingers.

Surely there are more productive uses for a politician’s time than making publicity stunts.
