Hillsboro High School students stage walkout in dispute over transgender student
(KMOV.com) – More than 150 students walked out of Hillsboro High School over a dispute about the use of the girl’s locker room by a transgender student.
The walkout lasted for about two hours. Roughly 30-40 people showed support for senior Lila Perry, who wants to use the girls’ locker room during gym class. Perry was born a male but said she has identified as a female since 13.
“There’s a lot of ignorance, they are claiming that they’re uncomfortable. I don’t believe for a second that they are. I think this is pure and simple bigotry,” said Perry.
A short distance away, a counter protest was being held by people claiming they have relatives at the high school.
“Boys needs to have their own locker room. Girls need to have their own locker room and if somebody has mixed feelings where they are, they need to have their own also,” said protester Jeff Childs.
Perry told News 4 school officials have been accommodating, understanding, and compliant with Title IX. The school offered her a private gender-neutral restroom, which she turned down.

Respectfully, I’d go along with those who walked out. If this has to happen, then the “private gender-neutral restroom” should be the only accommodation made as underlined above.

I’d heard of a few of these cases, I didn’t realize it was as widespread as that this would be an issue at a Missouri high school.

So we should understand that this boy believes he feels like a girl, but not that the girls are uncomfortable with him in their dressing room. 🤷 Strange world we live in.

No you can understand both. I understand this boy believes he is a female but on the other hand I can understand the girls not wanting him in there still. If it is a big enough dressing room then you should also be able to find a bathroom stall to change in also or you know find a more private area. People need to understand that not everyone is comfortable with this idea yet and that they need to give it time.

No, if you’re in the majority your discomfort doesn’t matter and makes you a horrible person. Because feels.

Also, gotta say, if this was an option when I was in HS 50% of the guy’s would’ve been “transgendered” on gym days. Plus I would’ve finally been good enough to make a varsity basketball team. 😦

Maybe people need to realize that boys, no matter what their feelings, should not be dressing and undressing with the girls who are also dressing and undressing.

Sometimes the only private place in a gym room is the (wet) shower, because up til now, only members of one sex have used the room.

I strongly disagree with the premise of this post. There is a reason people are not comfortable with this idea of “transgenderism”, and that’s because it is disordered. God creates a person with a male or female sexual identity. It is not something that we get to define (or redefine) according to our whims. The fact that Joe now wants to be called Sally and treated like a girl is a delusion that society should not be forced to validate. It goes against logic and it should be treated as a mental illness, not encouraged or enabled. We should feel sorry for these people suffering from this problem and help them find psychological treatment that normalizes their mental condition.

People should never become comfortable with “transgenderism”, even with time. Just like they should never become comfortable with the disorder of bulemia.

or not! (Give it more time… I’m saying… NOT) I wouldn’t want my daughter changing clothes in front of a male who feels like a female. I don’t think understanding is what they need. Girls and boys this age should need a little privacy. I knew some students who would have done this for a JOKE at the teen-aged years. Not saying this is the case, but there should be an alternative that is comfortable for everyone…

Would YOU be comfortable changing clothes in front of the opposite sex right NOW at a gym? How can they push this on high-schoolers? Maybe I’m just too modest…

Perhaps people do realize that they just do not say it. I am female and even when around other females tend to go to a more private area I’m just like that.
I am also looking at both sides of the argument.

The guy wants to be a girl but he isn’t. And there are some, like Bruce Jenner AKA Catlin who’s a man wanting to be a woman but still likes women. Not acceptable in a girl’s locker room.

Equally disturbing would be a female wanting to be a boy in a boy’s locker room. Not good, not healthy, not safe.

I believe I mentioned “I can understand the girls not wanting him in there”

I do not believe they should have males around females in these situations. I’m saying that the transgender issue itself needs more time not the sharing gym locker rooms part. Also why is THIS done to some words when there is a thing you can use to underline?

To answer the question of would I be comfortable changing clothes in front of the opposite sex right. No so I would find another area that is private to change in like a bathroom stall. I would remove myself from the situation quietly and then probably ask someone in private what is going on.

No but it still exists and Bulimia or otherwise known as Bulimia nervosa. Is an eating disorder and not about gender at all or what gender someone believes they are. I’m personally fine with whatever people do with their lives I can’t control them and worrying about it honestly does no one any good.

I have no solid proof if Transgenderism is in fact a mental illness and I am not a medical professional so I am not going to make any claims.

Yup. Welcome to the new age of discourse, where reality is irrelevant, and feelings are the only thing that matters.

Only in bizarro land of the modern world can a person with a penis say with a straight face they are a girl.

… they need to give it time.
Yes, like until the 12th … of never. Turning down the gender-neutral facilities is a good indication this is a set-up for a lawsuit and to force the idea on society.

Perhaps people do realize that they just do not say it.
Maybe people have stopped saying it because of the negative and intolerant reaction they get for being what just a few years ago was considered normal.

So how would you feel if one or more of the females you had to dress around were actually male?

Why can’t people just come to a compromise anymore?

This issue can be resolved with 3 questions to the student in question:

1 - Do you have breasts? Answer, No.

2 - Do you go through a phase every 28 days? Answer, No.

3 - Do you have a penis? Answer, yes.

Problem solved, he has no business being in the girls locker room.

If the person near me believed they are male then that is really none of my business to be honest. If they had a male body and believed they are female I would probably move away to a more private spot. Not to be rude to them but for my own comfort in wanting to be alone. I may then ask someone who owns the gym if they knows they are in there.

On the other side of this argument. I have seen people who are transgender and sometimes get very bad hate from others including threats and things like that. No one deserves to be treated like that no matter what someone believes. However there are some people that are rather strong and do not let things get to them that others say. They are happy with who they are.

Why can’t people just come to a compromise anymore?
Because those who compromise will lose. Just look at the current negotiations [if you can call them that] with Iran. We went in with a straight flush, and they went in with a pair of deuces. They came out winners because they realized that øbama’s legacy means more to him than anything else.

That is an admission that you do consider it your business.

Perry is trying to force the issue that’s why he turned down the “private gender neutral restroom”. Tough buddy pee your pants!!! Memaw
