(Missouri) Hillsboro High School students stage walkout in dispute over transgender student

It’s just horrific that people in positions of authority would be encouraging or accepting of the mental illness that this young man is experiencing. They seem to be encouraging him to fall further into the illness.

They are taking their cues from higher ed where error has rights. Just read any college/university website, and you will find words like “equity,” “diversity,” “multiculturalism,” and “inclusion.” Anyone who does not “embrace” these ideas is considered unenlightened.
 
The best protest would be for all the boys in the school to claim they identify as a woman and demand to muse the woman’s locker room. Be interesting to see how the school board would respond to this.

Thank God I don’t have a teenage daughter at that school, otherwise, i’d be furious if a dude thinking he’s a girl, which he isn’t, wanted to share a locker room with my daughter.
 
This child clearly has issues that are now affecting those around him. He’s a special-needs child. It’s not possible to integrate him into normal, everyday life with his fellow students without a complete upheaval of what is normal and good - hence the walk-out by the other students. The boys don’t want him in the boys’ locker room because he thinks he’s a girl, and the girls don’t want him in the girls’ locker room because he actually is a boy.

There’s an obvious impasse here which dictates that this is a special-needs child that has some serious mental health issues and cannot be integrated with his fellow students without utterly steamrolling, or at the very least, completely disregarding the rights of all the other students simply to appease this one sick child.

Because this child cannot be part of a school it is the parents’ issue to deal with by removing him/her from the school and find some other means of getting him an education. Foisting a twisted and wrong belief onto others so you get your way is a show of depraved arrogance and a seemingly impenetrable level of pride.

That does not really cover it enough ok. I’m a little insulted that you said they are special needs. Testing would probably have to be done to determine that on an educational level. I know I got testing done like that when I was a kid and I do have dyslexia but that does not make me special needs at all.

He can’t correctly identify his own sex. He’s either mentally ill or special needs.
 
I would not say Lila Perry has special needs, that may be a correct statement. I don’t think “special needs” means “disadvantaged” but I do believe now, the “diplomatic” way, perhaps “politically correct” way as well is to say someone has “issues”, saying one has “issues” at least for now, seems neutral.

If someone has problems with someone at work, one might say X has issues with Y. It’s a bit nonjudgmental.

That said, to more coverage on this story, I believe Lila has claimed to be a girl since age 13 if I have this correct and is now, 17.

I cringe to hear Perry is just assigning others as being bigoted. This is a problem in society today.

In the last paragraph, what Sophie says is something I thought as well, Lila Perry has not gone through any procedure to become female.

With some of these people, from what I understand is that even if they say they are “girls” now, some retain their same sexual urges.

Then testing still needs to be done to determine it and give a solid answer. Have you read what other transgender people have actually said about how some of them feel? I know it’s different and not easy for everyone to talk about but there are people out there who feel that they are a man but have been born a woman. I’m not sure how it happens or if it is a mental thing. I need to see scientific study results.

Whatever that young mans problem is, the girls of that school should NOT have to suffer this simply because he doesn’t want to use the gender neutral restroom. He’s trying to force the issue like others who have identity problems have done.When will this kind of nonsense ever end. God Bless, Memaw

When we were young it was a normal thing that we were cramped in a locker room that was too small for purpose and had to get changed (and showered) in a very short time. You didn’t have time to think about who you were close to or who might be watching or consider modesty And honestly, the thought of the cold hard water of the shower was more scary than being nude in front of your classmates…
