Wow, so MANY people knew and remember Mitt Romney!

I do wonder where are all the people who knew and remember Barack H. Obama…Don’t you?

:confused::confused:
Some of them are in Hawaii where he was born. You know the 50th state of the union. He also lived in Kansas. Went to college. Lived in Chicago. Worked there with Catholic churches in the community.

I see no signs that he later championed the vulnerable of society,.
I haven’t seen those either, but then again, I haven’t looked very closely at what he may or may not have done in this area.

Obama has done some of this, and he has also championed Union bosses and Planned Parenthood so his record, IMHO, is mixed in this area.
His fortune-making tactics have been called callous and cruel by Rick Perry and Gingrich.
I would chalk that up to politics. However, I think some of his antics on the campaign trail were callous and cruel.
He admits “I like being able to fire people”
I think he said he liked to fire people who were not producing and unfortunately, there are a lot of people in the federal government who should be fired.
and his campaign is marked by things like constantly repeating lies like Obama went on an “apology tour”, “made the recession worse” which are bullying rhetorical tactics and claims.
And Axelrod doesn’t do these things too?

He didn’t remember the incident but he remembered he didn’t know the student in the incident was gay. :rotfl:
Maybe he didn’t know his professor was blind when he walked him into a door either. What a little jokester.

Sometimes people on CAF will resurrect old threads, even a few years old. I’ve never seen anyone resurrect a 48 year old thread. But 48 year old events are now front page news for the Washington Post?

My brother shot his best friend in the backside with a bb gun when he was 16. Just thought I’d mention it at this late date.

Yes, Hawaii that is in Asia, I remember.

😛

When did Barack H. Obama live in Kansas? His mother was born there but I don’t recall hearing about him living in Kansas.

OK, so leaving that aside, why isn’t the press interested in interviewing any of the people from Obama’s past? At any point in time, have any of these childhood, young adult, etc. friends ever wanted to comment? If not, why not? Evidently, the Washington Post had no trouble finding people from Mitt Romney’s past, who were more than happy to comment about him.

Please direct me to any interview, anywhere, with anyone other than terrorists (Bill Ayers, etc.), who knew and went to school with Barack H. Obama.

Don’t you ever wonder about things like that? What if it were Mitt Romney who had such an unusual past, yet no one asked any questions or tried to dig up the dirt? I mean, why can’t people on the left even ask a question about things like this? It amazes me.

I have heard and read many stories about President Obama’s past. I remember when Fox was reporting on the Madrassa school he allegedly attended in Indonesia. It turns out he attended a Catholic school. CNN sent a crew and found this info. I read quie a few articles about his time in college and other things. I did not read them with the a thought that one day i could prove he was born in America. Who knew that that would actually become an issue.
So please don’t ask why people on the left would question his biography. Until the birthers and truthers and all the "ers’ came out of the woodwork to make stuff up out of whole cloth most people would at least give a politician the benefit of the doubt on his own autobiography.
I do know that my cousins make millions with their Harvard Law School pedigrees and here was a guy who could have made that, too, and chose to go into community service. All of a sudden, that was not admirable. Who knew?

Fools are abundant…true journalists …not so much.

So he wrote a book. So what? YOu can compare his “youthful indiscretions” to Romneys because he told about many of them in his book. It was to me more of a warning at his own expense.

I think it’s interesting that the Obama-haters can’t even come up with anything he actually did. OMG Obama sat in a pew!
.
If a candidate went to a church where the pastor preached racism, would you just say “he sat in a pew!” ??

Some day, all will be known.

[SIGN]Won’t that be fun.[/SIGN]
We need to go back to true journalists and not news for entertainment for that to happen. With major corporations controlling our news sources, I don’t see that happening any time soon.

If a person went to a church where the pastor preached sexism, would you say "one sat in a pew’??

People were asking about if there were any stories of kindness shown by Romney. Here are some:

In 1995, a Mormon family, the Nixons, had recently moved to the Boston area and got devastating news when two of their sons were rendered quadriplegics by a terrible car accident — a tragedy that was compounded by the financial strain. Having heard their story, Romney called the parents to see if they’d be around on Christmas Eve. Romney, even though he didn’t know the Nixons very well, showed up with Ann and his sons. They brought the injured sons a new stereo system and other gifts. According to the book, the Nixons “were floored” that Romney had not only taken an interest in them, but that he and Ann had taken time out of their busy schedule to deliver the gifts themselves and turn it into a family event to set an example. Romney also offered to pay for their sons’ college educations and participated in multiple fundraisers for them over the years. “It wasn’t a one time thing,” the father told the authors.

One time, Romney found out that a church member had broken his foot by falling off a ladder trying to remover a hornet’s nest. Romney showed up and devised a way of removing it from the inside of the house. “Everyone who has known Romney in the church community seems to have a story like this, about him and his family pitching in ways big and small,” Kranish and Helman write. “They took chicken and asparagus soup to sick parishioners. They invited unsettled Mormon transplants to their home for lasagna.” Another time, a fire broke out near where Romney lived and he “organized the gathered neighbors, and they began dashing into the house to rescue what they could: a desk, couches, books” until the fire fighters made them stop. He also helped build a playground to honor a neighbor’s child who had died of cystic fibrosis. “There he was, with a hammer in his belt, the Mitt nobody sees,” the neighbor, Joseph O’Donnell recounted. “Romney didn’t stop there,” the book reads. “About a year later, it became apparent that the park would need regular maintenance and repairs. ‘The next thing I know, my wife calls me up and says, “You’re not going to believe this, but Mitt Romney is down with a bunch of Boy Scouts and they’re working on the park.”’…

Personally, I don’t think any of this should have bearing on whether or not Romney deserves to be president. But those who want to make the fact that Romney reportedly did something inexcusable in high school into a campaign issue must also grapple with his numerous acts of charity and generosity over the course of his lifetime.

It was silly four years ago to argue that Barack Obama was unsuited for the presidency because he smoked pot and snorted cocaine once upon a time. It is silly to reach the same conclusion about Romney now. Recreational drug use and adolescent bullying are different — the former crime, most of the time, is victimless. But in 1965, homophobia was even more common than it is now. That doesn’t excuse it, yet even today, in what is supposed to be an era of social progress, anti-gay epithets are still flung haphazardly by kids grasping for touchstone insults, including kids who aren’t anti-gay…

It would be relevant if Romney exhibited this kind of bad judgment, prejudice or cruelty in his adult life. There’s no evidence of that. If Obama is allowed to “evolve,” Romney is entitled to the same privilege.

You missed the point. You were giving Obama kudos for eschewing a more lucrative career in law by going into community service. My point was he made millions anyway through writing his autobiographies. He is also assured a lucrative future, considering his stint as a president.

Are are you suggesting that he knew he would make millions on an autobiography when he graduated from Harvard and no one really knew who he was?

Well said Gilliam…I thought this thread would sink of its own weight.

Guess not,

John
