You missed the point. You were giving Obama kudos for eschewing a more lucrative career in law by going into community service. My point was he made millions anyway through writing his autobiographies. He is also assured a lucrative future, considering his stint as a president.
Considering he didn’t even write one of them, he did OK for himself.

Yes, Hawaii that is in Asia, I remember.

😛

When did Barack H. Obama live in Kansas? His mother was born there but I don’t recall hearing about him living in Kansas.
Yes Barack H (for Hussein) Obama’s maternal grandparents and mother lived there. I’ve lived in two states myself but my grandparents lived in a third and my parents were born in that 3rd state. So was one of my siblings. So even though I personally never lived there, it still has a special place in my heart and I have visited the state frequently. I was mixed up knowing his grandparents played an important role in his life. And in any case I’m certain Kansas has a special place in our President’s heart for familial reasons as well. Thanks for pointing out the correction though. Not that it’s that important to the topic of Mitt Romney bullying a fellow student with hair Romney disapproved of.

WaPo Caves: Finally Notes Correction on Romney Hit-Piece
Though the Post
has much more to answer for with this piece, obviously under pressure from New Media, sometime today the following was snuck into the bottom of yesterday’s smear:

Editor’s Note: An earlier version of this story reported that White “has long been bothered” by the Lauber incident. White later clarified in a subsequent interview that he has been disturbed by the incident since he learned of it several weeks ago from a former classmate, before being contacted by The Washington Post.

The same Washington Post whose dogged and brilliant reporting was once responsible for the resignation of a corrupt president has now become itself corrupt. Misinformation, the memory-holing of mistakes, and the timing of hit-pieces to dovetail with White House messaging is the work of hacks, not legends.

No one can take your credibility from you, you can only give it away.

Are are you suggesting that he knew he would make millions on an autobiography when he graduated from Harvard and no one really knew who he was?
This is really hard to appraise. Apparently Obama was the protege of Bill Ayers’ father, who was then the CEO of ConEd in Chicago, very wealthy and influential, long before Obama ran for any political office. Sometimes people do things with a very long vision ahead. In any event, many believe Bill Ayers actually wrote Obama’s autobiography. What form the raw material took is something we don’t know.

You mean like gossip about what Mitt Romney may have done 48 years ago?
It isn’t going to stop in this thread until the thread hits 1000. Until the story falls apart, which it appears to be doing in increments, another thread will be started on the same subject. It is important to some to attempt to discredit Romney in the eyes of readers here, and, while this topic might end, we’re going to see serial installments of Romney innuendo until the big Obama crowd comes in, closer to the election.

The main reason for it is that these kinds of topics distract from the real issues.

Bingo!👍

I have always thought that Obama was a long time in the making. He is a charismatic figure (to some) and has a real gift of gab. Who all was involved in his persona, I do not know, nor do I care to speculate.

No, that’s the white side of his family, he threw them under the bus during his campaign. Even though his white grandmother paid for his expensive education in Hawaii, he made her out to be a rampant racist who would cross the street to avoid black people.

Even if true, we’re going to use pranks a candidate did over 40 years ago to judge his character by?

This is really going to be a horrible campaign season.

Jim
Of course, just as people are doing to Obama.

However, on this particular story, Romney comes out very poorly. Not that he did things that he regrets a long time ago - we all do. But the response …

I remember (quick calculation…) 45 years ago, in 3rd grade, teasing a girl in my class which brought her to tears. I felt terrible about it. When i think of it, it still bothers me, although I apologized at the time and we went to school for many years after that without problems.

Romney says he doesn’t remember this incident. Either he wasn’t impacted by what has been described as terrorizing someone, or he’s lying. Either one tell me something bad about his character, and I’m not sure which I would consider worse.

Well, being that the “victim’s” surviving relatives said the incident is not being portrayed correctly, there may be another obvious choice other than the two you mentioned.

Or, the incident did not happen in the way it’s being described.

So this is Barack HUSSEIN (cue middle eastern music) Obama right? Just need to make sure it’s not the other Obama. Only the one with the Muslim middle name, who grew up around Muslims in a Muslim country, with Muslims in his family.

It looks like this has blown up in the Washigton Posts face. The family denies it and they admit the misquoted a key source who in turn admits he never heard about the incident until the WAPO bought it. They are getting desperate and hopefully Romeny will ignore these distractions a concentrate on what an abject failure Obama i.

Simply not true. Sorry, you can’t “breitbart” this away.

It’s the little boy born to a white mother who, after being rejected by her son’s father, found another exotic foreigner to marry, Lolo Soetoro. Barack’s stepfather was a Muslim. That was his first exposure to any religion, so it is understandable that it made a great impact on him.

Barack H. Obama had little contact with his bio father, BHO Sr. But his mother idealized his father to him while he was growing up, so he seemed larger than life. You can read his book, “Dreams From My Father,” and see how the myth was transmitted to him. BHO Sr. was also a Muslim but since his son had little time with his father, I do not think that was his tie to Islam.

I am not drawing attention to President Obama’s faith, or lack thereof. When he mentions Islam, I think he is remembering his happy times in Indonesia.

A long time ago when I was a teenager, a person could be bullied for:

Being dumb, being smart, being thin, being fat, bad complexion, ugly car, being short, having small breasts, having large breasts, having rich parents, having poor parents, having no parents; having ancestry that was Polish, Bohiemian, German, Hungarian, Russian, Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, African, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Irish, or Indian.

Why is it only important if a person is bullied for possible sexual orientation? Has human nature changed that much?
