Those knobby knees are far too tantalizing! Again, I recommend the following:

According to Saint Padre Pio:
“The Church is the house of God.
It is forbidden for men to enter with bare arms or in shorts. It is forbidden for women to enter in trousers, without a veil on their head, in short clothing, low necklines, sleeveless or immodest dresses.”

I’m not sure what his modesty standards are outside of church, but I’m guessing it would be the same

When sitting down in shorts and boxers (short like underpants) a gentleman must take care to position his legs so as not to frighten the horses.

You do ask silly questions.

What are some of the tricks ?

Unbelievable.

No crocs.
😱
You monster. Crocs are awesome and comfortable when it’s warm. And if the internet is to be believed, wearing them ensures no woman will ever look at you with lust which means they’re the epitome of modest clothing.

Bear in mind he was writing for a different time. (Consider that in the past, prostitutes wore more clothing than what we consider modest these days.) In addition there is no requirement from the Church to veil.
For me, my standard Sunday wear is khakis and a polo, which shows some arm as they’re short sleeved. And I’ve been to Masses where standard wear wasshorts and t-shirt. (Youth mission trip for example.)
As for women wearing pants, I disagree with solar skirtura.

I find the comments about tight jeans ambiguous. It depends on what we mean by “tight”. Narrow jeans have been the fashion in Europe for a long time, and they are becoming more trendy among young people today. They’re not immodest, nor are the smallish European-type shirts that cling a bit more than baggy American-style shirts. What tips the line to immodesty, I would think, is if we move from “tight” to “revealing”.

For guys’ jeans, I think that if you can put them on in 10 seconds, they’re fine, even if “tight”. If they take you 30-60 seconds to put on, they’re likely to be too tight.

Why would you assume that? There are plenty of types of clothing that would not draw my attention in the slightest outside of church, but would be a real distraction if people wore them in church.

What if everyone started dressing like the Amish? 🤔

Your right. I think it’s clear that even the Amish have been tainted…😨

Well, that style’s been gone for a long time and amish it a lot. So nice to meet it again.

*rimshot*

Yeah my husband and I went shopping for some new pants for him here in Europe and it’s pretty much impossible to find anything that isn’t ‘skinny’ jeans for a man under the age of 40. We ended up getting three pairs and while they’ve loosened up a bit with wear they are still really tight compared to what guys used to wear. They aren’t obscene of anything, just narrow. Everything is kinda narrow for men now, shirts included. My husband’s a thin guy so it’s not really a problem, but I feel for larger gents out there. That’s just the style now, and a lot of times you are pretty limited in what you can wear by what’s available.

And not really a modesty thing, but if men are looking for fashion hints from a lady, don’t wear shirts with random words and/or dates on them. It’s pretty common here to see men’s shirts with stuff like “Iowa Lacrosse Club 1978” or “Red Canyon Hiking” or some such nonsense with a crest or badge on it when it’s super, super obvious that the person has never in their lives had anything to do with any of those activities. It’s a yuppie Euro thing to some degree and it drives me bonkers.

I, for one, am a big fan of undershirts. But I’ve been known to wear overalls with no shirt so…take what I say with a grain of salt.
