Boston Globe columnist Joan Vennochi wrote a column today in the Globe accusing current Archbishop O’Malley of exacting revenge for ousted former leader Cardinal Law by removing priests who had opposed Law’s leadership after the church scandal broke. Her reasoning is patently absurd and again demonstrates why the Globe has to be the most anti-Catholic newspaper in the country. She also accuses O’Malley of being obedient to Rome when it comes to ousting dissident priests…well, that part she got right. Now how dare the Archbishop be obedient to the Magisterium…outrageous, huh? Read the column on the link below.

All I can say is that I am not suprised. It seems the left has a vendetta against the Catholic Church and uses their allies in the Main Stream Media as one of its Weapons of Mass Distortion.

And they wonder why circulation is down.

Speculation as to the real motivation includes Cuenin’s support for gays and his past criticism of Law.
Apparenlty the Church’s position on homosexuality is wrong in the eyes of the Boston Globe.

The priest probably should have been removed years ago.

Years ago, when I lived in the Boston archdiocese, it was axiomatic that a priest could mess up in many areas and be forgiven, but to mess up the parish finances was the unforgivable sin.

Thus I tend to believe the Archdiocese’s explanation of why he was removed.

Correction Vern,
The Church’s position on ANYTHING is wrong in the eye of the Boston Globe!

Joe sadly as far as finances go he didn’t take much. The man should have been removed but finances were the least of his offences. His term was up and he requested another 6 and was refused. When he didn’t budge the accountants moved in.
Our admin has stolen half a million from us and has refused to turn in his resignation at 75 and so far he is still here. We figured he must have known he wasn’t going to get his priest retirement so planned for his own. We laugh but it really is more sad than funny.
By the way they marched right by my house on Sunday. What a group! What made me laugh the most was most were in cars and SUV’s.

Well, that’s true.

What I was trying to say was that in this particular instance, they are taking a swipe at the Church for not being “politically correct” and “sensitive to the needs of the gay community.”

How dare the Church continue to uphold traditional morality and proclaim that some things are always wrong, no matter what the fashion of the day is!!

Maybe there should be automatic excommunication for any Catholic who subscribes to the Boston Globe.😛

And the next thing you know they’ll be saying how Pope John Paul II covered up the sex abuse scandal. Which he didn’t do. Unfornately, the left wing loves to circulate the idea that being a Pope Benedict fan means you must be a Bush supporter. That’s the demography of the media for you. But then again its like they say old prejudices die, but lies never do. I’m afraid that the denigration against Pius XII after his death will result in the denigration JPII. Given that they criticize Bishop O’ Malley who was appointed by John Paul to head the archdiocese of Boston, it is an indirect assualt on John Paul II. I fear, that if this continues, it will result in the denigration of John Paul II in the same way that it happened with Pius XII after his death. If you think, I’m kidding, just watch. Right now it seems unthinkable, but I bet five years from now it won’t be.

this is the same newspaper that crucified Cardinal Law and led the campaign to force his removal because he supposedly failed to report errant priests? Seems they don’t care what the bishop does, they will use it as a vehicle to attack the Church.

No kidding. I wonder what their reaction was to Mel Gibson’s Passion of the Christ?

The left has move so far away from basic values that Catholics can no longer follow them – and they want to blame us for adhering to the faith, not themselves for taking extreme positions.

I read a newspaper story last Sunday about how hard it is to get an abortion in the South – one poor woman had to go from Tennessee to Little Rock, Arkansas to be aborted. For the third time.

Three abortions? Hell-o! That makes her a serial killer.http://forums.catholic-questions.org/images/icons/icon9.gif

Crucified Cardinal Law ? Revealed him for what he is, is closer to the truth ! Get a copy of the Massachusetts attorney Gneral’s report, or see the Tape of his grand Jury testimony. He should be in a Monastery in the Alps atoning fore his offenses. Not in a Luxury apartment in Rome collecting $100,000.00 a year !

Most of the abuse that happened in Boston took place decades before Cardinal Law headed the archdiocese. The big name offenders weren’t even priests by the time the scandal broke, and they weren’t living in Boston anymore either.

How much did he know? I’m not sure, but there isn’t a whole lot someone can do with a mess that happened before their time. Continuing to conceal the information may not have been the right thing to do, but I can see why he did it. He didn’t act any differently than those who served as archbishop before him.

It’s absolutely horrible that abuse ever happens to anyone, let alone a child, let alone by a religious leader. But I don’t see how anyone can try to argue that Cardinal Law is responsible for the abuse.

Until you can learn to get all your facts strait, then I think you should learn to show more charity than that. What to do with Cardinal Law was Rome’s decision not yours. Don’t try to possess powers that don’t belong to you.

Speaking of serial killers what about the doctor in Arkansas that’s giving abortions for free. I find it funny that a S.W.A.T. team was sent by Janet ‘cough’ Reno to take Elain Gonzalez ‘back to a communist country.’ But they won’t sent a S.W.A.T. team to arrest this abortion doctor. He should be in jail. The left goes crazy over a person who for example loses their home in New Orleans but when it comes to women having abortions they push it aside. Typical isn’t it. And the biological father has no say in the matter because ‘he isn’t the one that gets pregnant.’ Speaking of criminals the liberal left apparently thinks that because the criminals have low IQ’s that they are dumb are not culpable? Come on. Is that the best they can do? The liberal left, given their narcisstic atheistic agenda, are clueless as to the violence around them.

Janet Reno was part of the administration that had a Surgeon General (Joycelin Elders) who told Catholics they should “get over” worrying about abortion.
