It’s because women generally aren’t naturally attracted to those subjects

Female Disney characters used to be feminine and now they’re feminist …The second is forced, bitter, vengeful, and anti-family.
I’ve mentioned their animated movies already, but I’m struggling to think of one of their recent animated movies where this holds.

My daughter wants to be an astronaut and a computer programmer. I guess I should tell her that she can’t because reasons.

Female Disney characters used to be feminine and now they’re feminist. Big difference. The first is natural, strong, beautiful, and complements the family. The second is forced, bitter, vengeful, and anti-family.
You know, feminist used to mean concerned with fair treatment of women and opposition to sex-based discrimination. Equal pay for equal work; don’t deny woman promotions they’re qualified for. That kind of thing.

Sometimes it still does. There are still feminists who just want fair treatment for women.

As someone who has worked at both Google and Microsoft, it’s not uncommon to have a team of 6 - 12 engineers who are all male or only have one female employee.
It’s because women generally aren’t naturally attracted to those subjects, just like men aren’t generally excited about teaching 3rd graders or being NICU nurses.
Didn’t they use to say that there were so few black doctors, lawyers and such because not many black men were interested in being professionals?

This is why I only see Disney movies with free tickets anymore.

Well, those points I would agree with. But unfortunately, modern feminism has been infected by the left, which turns everything divisive and ugly.

Modern feminism isn’t homogeneous. Some of us just read a few JP2 encyclicals, learned our worth and became feminists.

I’m going to guess this was directed at me? I actually was referring to Grace Hopper, Ada Lovelace, and a host of others. But thanks for adding to my list!

I got to hear Grace Hopper speak once and met her afterwards. She was an amazing woman. Brilliant and able to speak in a way where people understand the concepts she was speaking of.

I plan to see it soon, Even though when I learned they made a Toy Story 4, I was a bit skeptical. Personally, I thought 3 was perfect to end the series because In some way it felt like closure and I related a bit to how Andy felt when he had to come to terms of moving on and becoming an adult (but gave his toys to someone more fit.) So I can’t wait to see and make my conclusion. 😊

Also wouldn’t surprise me if there was something creepy added, every movie had at least something totally odd tossed in there somewhere. Sid’s toys in the first movie, Woody’s dream in the 2nd movie, and that scene in the 3rd at the garbage dump.

Of course the movie itself had to feature a lesbian couple with a child in school; not as main characters, but prominent enough to be noticed for what it was.
I just saw it today and didn’t notice this.

You know software is historically woman’s work, right?
I think it might be more correct to say that it was enticing to women and that some women (e.g. Ada Lovelace and Grace Hopper) had a major influence on the field. NPR has a pretty good article on the decline of women in computer science, and the graph at the beginning does paint the industry as not really ever being dominated by women. Granted, the noticeable decline in the 80s would indicate that the current “boy’s club” image is more cultural than biological, and the article also delves a bit into what caused that cultural shift.
