Not hardly… What is meant by “polygamist Mormon exploits”??

**
A big AMEN to that!!**
literature.org/authors/doyle-arthur-conan/study-in-scarlet/part-02/chapter-04.html

In “A Study in Scarlet”-
The murderer was in love with a woman from the Salt Lake City community. She and her father left, and they were pursued by two polygamist Mormons. They killed the father, and one of them married daughter to get the father’s lands. And she died of maltreatment and a “broken heart”. So the murderer decided to avenge her, and somehow they ended up in London. And Sherlock Holmes solved the case… so yea, far-fetched.

see this is the hard part beacuse commanded the killing of animals and Christ said to stop. The Israelites where commanded to kill those who lived in their lands. If Gods commandments are always the same and are not adaptive to a particular situation than the Bible needs some serious work. If however God can command group A to do one thing and group B to do another and they are both going to be blessed for obeying we can keep the Bible.
ye do err not knowing the scriptures. Blood is required to expiate sins. in the OT they had to have priests make sacrifice for them of the animals that represented their livelihood and thus their life to them. JESUS became THE high priests FOREVER!!! his blood was different in that it was able to be shed ONCE for ALL. thus the imperfect covenant of moses wasn’t bad or wrong it was incomplete. Christ literally fulfilled it. because he is our high priest and he is our sacrifice we all benefit forever from a perfected covenant that allows to go directly to God. the Lord was always against wicked people preventing his obedient chosen people from inheriting what the land he gave them. no inconsistency there. in the end we have to ask which is the “final word” from God. jesus? or a self proclaimed prophet? just as the bible shows a preference for jesus over moses in how we should live i have a distinct preference for jesus over joseph smith.

As I’ve stated before( and that alone shows the need) that many LDS beliefs are not understood and are misrepresented by some people. So I’m trying to help people better understand what we do believe. What they do with that is their business.

Are you bothered by someone standing up for their beliefs?
The thread titled “Is this all the CC has?” is only about tearing up Catholicism it’s obvious from the opening post. I don’t believe you’re here to correct misconceptions about the LDS faith any more than the missionaries who knock on my door are just checking my understanding of your faith. You are here to show where you think Catholic teaching is wrong and how LDS teaching is correct. You are debating,:tsktsk: own up to it.

Hey, you Mormon men:

Can i have two husbands???

Can your wives have multiple husbands??

congrats on the mind reading. I’m not here to debate, but I also try to answer questions that people ask and when I see views (or in this case a patter of views) I find to be odd I inquire. As sadly happens all to often people start attacking my faith rather than discussing the topic the thread was meant to address. Go wag your finger elsewhere.

I hear very often evidence this and fact that. Is that really all the CC has going for it. That’s all I see being talked about here is a selected version of history.
is not an “inquiry” it mocks and challenges basic troll stuff.

That is not mocking. I was stating what I was observing and asking if that is what people where basing their hopes for life eternal on.

Then you have been spending more time defending your faith than you have been reading and paying attention to what you’ve been told. Many here have answered this question or given suggestions like this:

If you want to know all about Catholicism, we have over millions of materials there in Vatican Library, about the faith and history. This Forum can’t tell you all. If you are sure that what was presented here was a selected version of history, why don’t you learn the whole history from the objective sources, off course. Later, you can compare the history of the RCC vs the history of mormonism. Make sure you are not taking selected history of mormonism too.
In your reply to Swariffin’s post you went directly to the word history, ignoring the rest of his reply which shows that Catholics believe there is more to their faith than history alone. You keep dragging all discussion back to history either directly like above or by making claims for the “apostasy” or other LDS doctrines that Catholics feel are best answered by their history.

So facts rule until they don’t support the CC position and than we bring in faith. That is an interesting idea.

No facts and history are part of the the faith just not the whole thing. Why are you so worked up that Catholics here would believe their history contradicts the LDS apostasy idea and would point out this history in defense of their faith. You do the same thing in defense of Joseph Smith:confused:

If you are really interested in the Catholic faith you could read some of the other boards here. Others mentioned this on your “Is this all…” thread, there’s Spirituality, Catholic Living, Moral Theology and Social Justice among others.

I doubt you’ll bother to check any of those out since you hold the answers in such contempt (though unseen) as shown here:

I’m more or less only here.

I prefer an honest (even if not perfectly informed) answer to a sound bite and it is from the conversation here that the question arises.

. I’m not here to debate, .
I hope you are here to answere questions because i hve one…

Is it - or has it ever been - OK in your religion for a woman to have multiple husbands??

If the U.S. legalized polygamy, would you let your wife have 5 husbands? 2?

That’s your opinion, but the bible is rich with evidence that he at times did not forbid it and modern prophets have conveyed to commandment to men.
“rich with evidence”??? Give me a break… As stated, God allows people to do things he does not want because he gave usfree will… We can go to Hell if we so desire…

and the day i share a man with another woman is the day i die…

teancum has yet to give much evidence for any of his assertions. he freely admits to not having really studied much on the topics being discussed and chooses to ignore all evidence presented by others. this is all too common with mormons who, having been inculcated from toddler age with a “testimony” just choose to “believe” and figure anything that contradicts that belief must be wrong because it’s “anti-mormom” and everything will be explained in the after life… I fear for their explanation then. I pray God will be merciful and forgive them.

That’s what*** I*** was thinking…

I’m sorry your logic here just doesn’t make sense.

If I tell my oldest child I “forbid” him from hitting his little brother, that’s it, end of story, finished, done.

By saying “he at times did not forbid it” is just you ignoring the fact that God forbid it in the first place.

As we all know, God gave man “free will”. It is man’s choice whether or not to obey what God says.

Do you think when you meet him face to face he’s going to believe you when you say “You didn’t tell me I couldn’t do that.”?

Twist a pretzel, or some licorice, but leave the word of God alone.

Not at the same time.

We know that David had a bunch of wives, yet not until he lusts after a married women and has her husband killed to cover up for it does the prophet of God chew him out.

If David or Abraham having of more than one wife was so wrong why would it not be commended in the Bible. Yes it is an exception to the normal, but it is not called a sin in several places where it would make a heck of a lot of sense to call it a sin if they where breaking one of God’s commandments.
