Oh, Benedictgal, I knew you’d know. But in my dilemma, I may have jumped tracks on the subject in my mind without ceasing the typing.
It is not the instrumental music on which I fret, I know the instrument, in our case a [gasp] Roland keyboard is only used to support the singing… It is the shutdown on choral pieces by our choir during masses during Lent. For example, during offertory on Good Friday our choir has occasionally sung “A Purple Robe”, our one and only tenor has sung “The Seven Last Words …”.
And while I’m thinking of it, thanks for your nota bene. I know Good Friday service is not a mass. Brain was ahead of my “thinking”
