We won’t be music–less, though, because the parish has a couple cantors and a folk group (:eek:).

We are very small, and so I’m not sure they could handle a choral anthem. The carol service is still a possibility. Also, that need not be on Christmas. It could be after.

Hope someone can help me with this 🙂

Does anyone know the song Lord of light? (at least I think that is what it is called!)

Lyrics go something like this…

Lord of Light,
I am your Child…

(That’s all I know!)

Trying to find music and sheet music for it online but having no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

I can try get more lyrics if needed (Actually searching for my girlfriend as she has been trying to find it online for a while)

It sounds like something I’ve heard before from a Catholic youth concert or something along the lines of that.

The entrance music for Christmas is profoundly intimate: God the Father speaks his first words to his infant son. In its gentleness it contrats as "O Come all ye faithful.’ with all the tympanies and trumpets yet it is equally effective. I think we’ll do both so memorize this.

I can say the same for the Communion " In Splendoribus"
Both propers’ musical form direct us to strive for a gentle texture and and intimate tone. A little constraint please; or our Celtic Alleluias will get out of control and sound like a shany from Sponge Bob.

Sunday:

Communion: One Bread, One Body
Recessional: Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee

We did Morning and Evening Prayer each day, and we started off with certain verses of “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel”. It was so beautiful.

Each of the verses of O Come, O Come, Emmanuel (VENI, VENI, EMMANUEL) corresponds to one of the Latin O antiphons for the Magnficat during Vespers of December 17–23.
 
This is what we are doing at my parish for the Christmas Masses:

5:00 p.m. Vigil Mass (December 24); 8:30 & 11:00 a.m. Christmas Day Masses (December 25)

The Vigil and Day Masses are the same music line-up, but Midnight Mass is a little different, and that wasn’t planned ahead of time.

This year, like every other year, we do the carol service at 11:15 p.m. before Midnight Mass, and we sing many different Polish, Slovakian, Italian, and Croatian carols, and we sing some traditional modern favorites like “Angels, We Have Heard on High”, maybe “Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming”, and then we end it off with “Silent Night”. Last year they had us all stand up and sing it, which was nice.

I am just going to sing a bunch of Christmas carols, two verses for most, so I can include everyone’s favorite. The only new thing I am adding this year is right before Mass starts I am going to sing Puer Natus in Bethlehem, the chant.
 
Hi all,
We always lead at the 2 vigil Masses in the Church Social center. They call them ‘over-flow’ Masses.

I’m keeping it simple this year due to the implementation of the new Liturgy.

O come all ye faithful

My parish is doing Mass of Christ the Savior by Dan Schutte for the Gloria, Sanctus, Mystery of Faith, Great Amen, and Lamb of God. We will be using Jamie Cortez’s version of Psalm 96, Today Our Savior is Born. For the Alleluia, we are doing Revelation Alleluia by Grayson Warren Brown.
