Would you be happy, if you got to heaven and there were Muslims, Jews, Buddhist, Hari Krishnas and other people from other religions there?
I will be happy to see every one in Heaven. Heck, even if I found out Hitler and Stalin made it to heaven, I’d be over joyed at the magnitude of God’s great mercy, even to the greatest sinners.

What I will be sad about, is for those who don’t make it to heaven for whatever reason, for I’m sure there are those, who don’t go to heaven.

The statements made that all who make it to heaven, will become Catholic, I think is not only false, but borders on the uncharitable.

There will not be an organized religion in heaven, but only those who belong to Christ. Yes, all regardless of their religious beliefs in their earthly life, will see Christ as God the Son. But religion, will not exist, as we know it.

Religion is something we use in our earthly life, to help us worship, learn and teach us. In heaven, we will be united with God in his Kingdom and all truth will be revealed to us.

The Catholic Church, has the fullness of "revealed’ truth, but not all truth.

Jim

We will still all be Catholic ;). Catholic means you’re part of the universal Church, the Body of Christ, the Bride of Christ. We will never cease to be that. Else Christ would be a divorcee. In Malachi, God said, “I hate divorce.”

Religion will be organized around Christ, as it is on Earth. Christ will be the center of it, and the Spirit the living water from which it flows. It’s true that we’ll know more than we know now, but that wouldn’t change our place as part of Christ’s body, and it would only enhance what we are now becoming, not fundamentally change it. It would enhance our role as Catholics, not remove it.

Also, I want to add something about another part of your post, Jim.

Religion is not just a way to learn and worship. It is unity with God. Jesus said that the kingdom of heaven is in the heart. The kingdom of heaven is therefore engulfing us in this life, the unity with God stunningly available to us in this life. The Earth itself, is, actually, an outward part of God’s kingdom. Catholicism is not simply a tool we use. It is unity with God, God’s kingdom and the truth! It is all that you described heaven as being. Heaven is simply the completion of what we already have available to us here. We have the bed and blanket here on Earth, and dying and going to heaven simply provides the pillow to go with it.

In fact, I would dare to say that on Earth, we are capable of receiving just about everything God offers his children in heaven. It’s just that we don’t live long enough on Earth to get that intimate with God. Hence Purgatory.

Heaven is already inside of us. It is righteousness, peace, love and joy. It is the presence and holiness of God. Therefore heaven is not a different reality. It’s simply a completed reality. And we have it here on Earth, to immerse ourselves in.

You’ve stated the truth so beautifully, Leif! 🙂

All the replies are enlightening and it brings joy to see Catholicism as inclusive and not exclusive. We are ecumenical. The doors of the church are not locked from the inside.

In heaven there will be no faith. There will be no need for faith, to believe something about which, what or who you can not see. There will be no hope, nothing for which to hope. All will be fulfilled.

There will be truth. In the creed we say we believe in one, holy, apostolic, catholic (universal) Church. There are not two or a thousand. This one Church has three components, the Church militant, suffering and victorious. The Church victorious in heaven is one with the Church militant on earth. One means one. All souls in heaven are one universal body. There isn’t a department for Buddhists, animists, Muslims, Baptists, Catholics, Hindus, etc. The souls in this place will know one Truth, three divine persons. They also are one with those on earth who profess this same truth, but here in faith.

Allah is not there. If Allah exists at all, the unitarian being woshipped by Muslims, he is the devil. Jesus is there, the second Person of the Holy Trinity, Risen and Ascended in body.
The prophet of Allah was a man driven by lust, and a pedophile, who claimed a divine right to all the women and nieces he desired and those he conquered. Those who follow him are deceived. Some may be invincibly igrnorant and we hope for them.

Our opinions and speculations on this or any spiritual matter are irrelvant to what is. Truth is revealed by God so that we can know it. We know it by faith or not at all.

I think a definition of terms is in order here, before we can continue.

Faith is the revelation of God to a person, however God makes that happen.

Religion, is our response to that faith.

Religion may be through an organized religion, where we share the same beliefs as the other members, or it could even be on own individual practice.

Not all people who practice religion, have faith. They may have belief, which often times is only the suppression of doubt, but this is not faith.

Jim

Faith is a belief in that for which we have no proof, e.g., the Trinity. In heaven there will be no faith because we will have knowledge.

Hope is the desire and drive for that which we do not have or posses. In heaven there is no hope, because we have possession.

Charity is the only theological virtue that remains. Charity is Love. We, in heaven will live in an infinite love so incomprehensible to us on earth at this time, that our minds would not be able to grasp its depth.

In heaven, God no longer will dwell in us, as he does now. It is us who will dwell in God in heaven, and we will see him as he is.

Scripture tells us all we are incapable of understanding heaven in 1st Corinthians, 2:9 "Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, nor has it so much as dawned on man what God has prepared for those who love him" I like this description the best.

Grandfather, Why would you talk about Allah when you don’t know anything about him. Would you like similar treatment about Jesus? We would not stand for such disrespect. I know you don’t know anything about Allah by what you said. A lie about another religion does not make Catholicism true. We follow Catholocism not because of lies, but because of the Truth…

I am not offended when people reject Jesus as the Savior, the Son of God, Redeemer, Second Person of the Holy Trinity, which Muslims do. Muslims reject the essential claims of Christianity. I do not see this as disrespect. If the claims of Catholicism are true, the claims of Islam are false, or vice versa. They contradict one another, although there will be some common ground with all religions. If the claims of Catholicism are true, Mohamed can not be a prophet of God, because his teaching contradicts Christianity. If Mohamed is not a prophet of God, Allah is not God. You can either be a Christian, or a Muslim, but not both. One or the other is false. I have a good friend who is a Muslim and who tries to hedge his bets, but it does not work. If by rejecting this religion that means I disrespect it, what can I do? You will either worship the Holy Trinity or not. If you do you reject Islam and its precepts as false. If that upsets someone will you try to appease them by telling them what they want to hear? Islam is false or your religion is false. Which is it?

Catholics are correct in their belief about God, but if God tells you to lie about another god that doesn’t make you right, just a lier.

Soma, if you don’t know anything about the Muslim concept of Allah, then how is it you’re so certain what Grandfather said is a lie?

Soma,

You have abandoned all coherency and logic. What you wrote makes no sense at all.

There is only one God. There is no other gods. There can be none. There are none beside Him who is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of Israel who revealed Himself in the fullness of time and came among us, born of the virgin, was crucified, died, raised and ascended into heaven.

It would be a lie about “another god” to say such a being exists. Allah does not exist as a god or demi-god. Mohamed is not a prophet of God. I reject Allah and Mohamed. They are false.

Any Catholic must do that or cease being Catholic. Any Muslim must reject the precepts of Christianity or cease being a Muslim.

I am not offended that Muslims reject the triune God of the Christian. If they are offended that Christians do not accept Mohamed and Allah that is their choice. God bless them. I pray He will lead them to truth and mercy and eternal life with Jesus and all the saints.

Dear Grandfather,

Just one small suggestion, please to your statement.

A Muslim’s belief in allah and Mohammed does not equal rejection of Christianity.

That’s all. Peace!

Dear Grandfather,

It has to! Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died and was resurrected that we might be saved from sin and have eternal life. That’s the core of Christianity right there, and Islam rejects it. Therefore belief in Islam necessarily entails rejection of Chtistianity.

Dear Lief Erikson,

I am almost positive that there are millions of Muslims who are ignorant of Christianity. There are probobly millions more who are in a state of partial ignorance. These are not “rejecting” anything.
One can be a devout Muslim without ever having heard of Jesus.

I’m not saying there aren’t any Muslims in a state of ignorance about Christianity. However, no one can logically rely on a false god without denying the real one his just due. If that is done out of ignorance, it’s less blameworthy.
