what Scriptures? there was no Scriptures to be checked.

you mean the NT had already been written before the apostles begin spreading the Word?

"Lord, our God, whose power is beyond compare, and glory is beyond understanding; whose mercy is boundless, and love for us is ineffable; look upon us and upon this holy house in Your compassion. Grant to us and to those who pray with us Your abundant mercy."
…:hmmm: the OT what scripture do you think Christ quoted from?

oh my!

"Lord, our God, whose power is beyond compare, and glory is beyond understanding; whose mercy is boundless, and love for us is ineffable; look upon us and upon this holy house in Your compassion. Grant to us and to those who pray with us Your abundant mercy."

because they carry Apostolic authority, that is why the Bible carries so much authority, it is the preserved form of apostolic teaching.
Even the people who heard the Apostles preach check them against scripture
and i assume that this authority was given to them by Jesus, right? and what do you think happened to the apostolic authority?

who do you think preserved this form of apostolic teaching after the apostles died?

was the whole Church or just Rome?

what Church?

****"Lord, our God, whose power is beyond compare, and glory is beyond understanding; whose mercy is boundless, and love for us is ineffable; look upon us and upon this holy house in Your compassion. Grant to us and to those who pray with us Your abundant mercy."

********“Lord, our God, whose power is beyond compare, and glory is beyond understanding; whose mercy is boundless, and love for us is ineffable; look upon us and upon this holy house in Your compassion. Grant to us and to those who pray with us Your abundant mercy.”
I’m done; you just want to fight, and I am not interested

Chrysostom was made a Doctor of the Church by Pope St. Pius V
in 1568.

Odd choice, but so it is. There are four Great Doctors of the West, & Four of the East - in addition to the 25 or so “other” Doctors. That grouping is from 1883 IIRC.

Gove me Origen any day 🙂

I will give you that; I should have used the word Father from the start, but my point still stands. He is one of the main Fathers in the Orthodox, they still say his litugy on Sunday.
That is fine, of course, but what would make you think that the Orthodox doing so would prevent Catholics from honoring Chrysostom as a Doctor of the Church?

After all, he was a Catholic, having lived in the 4th century and well before the Great Schism.

Fight??? what do you mean? if i asked you a question you say i want to fight? it does not make any sense.

"Lord, our God, whose power is beyond compare, and glory is beyond understanding; whose mercy is boundless, and love for us is ineffable; look upon us and upon this holy house in Your compassion. Grant to us and to those who pray with us Your abundant mercy."

well 1st there is the title of the post Your “suspititions about protestants”
then there is the fact that you just keep asking questions without interacting with what I am saying.
if you truly do want to talk then ask your questions and I will answer, but please return the favor when I ask one as well.

so answer my question then. what Church?

"Lord, our God, whose power is beyond compare, and glory is beyond understanding; whose mercy is boundless, and love for us is ineffable; look upon us and upon this holy house in Your compassion. Grant to us and to those who pray with us Your abundant mercy."

that is not an honest question, if you have a point to make then make it.
okay then, what if I say I believe the orginal Church is the Eastern Orthodox Church, where does the discussion go then?

no the Church was never called Orthodox Church. where did you get that?

"Lord, our God, whose power is beyond compare, and glory is beyond understanding; whose mercy is boundless, and love for us is ineffable; look upon us and upon this holy house in Your compassion. Grant to us and to those who pray with us Your abundant mercy."

the 1st church wasn’t even called Christian, it was called “the way” do you have a point to make or not?

and then the Church is callled Catholic Church.

well, it started with you questioning on the authority of the Church. i think.

we end up here where i could not get you to say Catholic Church.

so i concluded that protestant do have a fear of the CC.
it is very sad that you guys cant eve say Catholic Church, avoiding the name any way you can.

if you guys were truly honest and want to be under the authority of the CC, then why do i still see this aversion towards the Church Jesus found.
Union cannot happen if you cannot accept the CC as the Church with authority given by Christ Jesus.

The trouble is that the Orthodox and Catholic Churches resemble each other and the primitive Church far more than any Protestant community does today. It is funny to watch Protestants who hate the Catholic Church attempt to cozy up to the Orthodox chiefly because they don’t know much about them.

I’m all for every Protestant becoming Orthodox. They would then be much closer to the fullness of Truth than they are today, and would have the benefit of the sacraments Christ created in fuller measure. This could not but help save more people and foster greater unity.

Of course, I strongly suspect that they would find our Orthodox brethren not quite to their taste, as obedience is a strong aspect of the Orthodox faith as well.

What are you hinting at Teflon my friend?

World-wide Protestantism is dying. Only in the US does it have a healthy existance, but that is changing with the influx of predominetly Catholic immigrants south of the border. If its a conspiracy, its failing miserably.
Yeah, and that “south of the border” influence has been just nifty…spanish masses, spanish songs during the english masses, and the church promising to harbor illegals. Lovely!

“11. The way and method in which the Catholic faith is expressed should never become an obstacle to dialogue with our brethren. It is, of course, essential that the doctrine should be clearly presented in its entirety. Nothing is so foreign to the spirit of ecumenism as a false irenicism, in which the purity of Catholic doctrine suffers loss and its genuine and certain meaning is clouded.”

irenicism
an advocacy of peace and conciliation. — irenicist, n.

Where do you get this from?

Acts 11:26
and when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch And for an entire year they met with the church and taught considerable numbers; and the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.
