Be careful with raw pork and raw beef. One can contract a nasty e-coli infection from raw meat.

When handled properly the risk is insignificant. I’d be more concerned eating raw seafood. But even that poses an insignificant risk when handled properly.

Not sure where I got that idea but I used to eat spaghetti with nutella.

Really not sure, my brother and I started that tradition in high school and until today I don’t know anyone who like it

This thread is some of the most fun I’ve had during quarantine. 🙂

The raw fat from the chicken was and is the best.
There is an continuous romance between me and raw beef or pork.
I was taught from before remembering that raw chicken and pork were bad so we stuck with beef/hamburger
Also love fried egg sandwiches! I love corned beef hash which no one in my family understands.😂😂😂. Put a fried egg on top…heaven!
I can put a fried egg on most things.

I love a fried egg (smothered in butter) sandwich that is cold.

I got hungry from this thread, so my NutriSystem afternoon snack was, you guessed it peanut butter and stewed tomato sandwich with hot sauce.

Delicious!

Ya know, it’s not easy to make gribenes anymore. The only way you can get all the fat and skin is to buy a whole chicken…roasters are the best. When chicken started to be offered in parts…yes, I’m that old, they still had skins on them…no more. It’s hard to find breasts with skins! They are, however pretty easy to make…just make chicken soup! @upant, I can pretty much put a fried egg on anything, too! Or poached egg! Or scrambled egg…I like eggs!

I had a fried egg on a burger at Denny’s and it opened up a new world for me! 😋

Fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches were Elvis Presley’s favorite snack. Any event or restaurant with an Elvis theme will have them on the menu.
A slice or three of bacon makes peanut butter, banana and mayonnaise simply scrumptious! ❤️❤️❤️

EDITED:
We didn’t fry ours, just ate with homemade bread, Yum-Yum white bread, or Roman Meal bread.

Tis_Bearself:
fairly common in the American South
This is true. It’s called kaolin. I’ve tried it and it surprisingly tasted like dirt to me. I did just pick it up from an exposed vein on a dirt road, so maybe the kind sold in more rural convenient stores tastes a little better.

EDITED to clarify.
This is the wrong quote. Thank you, @Tis_Bearself, for telling me. I’d intended to tag @Cruciferi and @Greenfields in regards to eating wild mushrooms. I’ve tried, unsuccessfully, to change it.

Please think twice about that. The poisonous ones are lookalikes for some of the edible ones, and there’s seldom a way to prevent death, if eaten.

I think you meant to quote the Mushroom post. The one you quoted is talking about people eating starch and clay.

Thinking about it, this thread is actually harder than ones dealing with theological questions, because different cultures have different views of what food counts as “weird”. That being said, I have never had this, but apparently it’s southern cuisine. Fried Coke

And growing up, whenever she’d fry hamburgers, my mom would take a piece of bread and soak up the grease and crusty bits left in the pan and share it with me. Horribly, disgustingly unhealthy. But heaven.
I am very fond of the crusty bits.

My brother liked onion and mustard sandwiches.
Peanut butter and mustard sandwiches. 😋
(And now that I consider it, I bet onion and tomato sandwiches would be good too 😋 )
