You see your problem is that you’re a little ignorant of how words obtain connotations. That’s what I’ve learned in my linguistics class. Profanity, I’m afraid, is relative. I could call you “gago” out of irritation but how is that profanity when it is spoken outside my native land where you guys don’t know what the word means and are therefore, not impacted by it? :rolleyes:

You are wrong about this, but you do not give up your defiant stance.

Just today, Father Wade’s homily addressed this very issue: as Catholics we must not wallow in profanity, in dirty words or movies. It is like helping Satan pull the trigger against you.

This is an authority of the Church, an orthodox priest in good standing, and you argue that you have a ‘right’ to profanity. You have no such right.

Time and again, there is evidence revealed by myself, others, and legitimate Church authorities that this culture is wallowing in the mire of its own destruction, and you still don’t get it.

A priest isn’t the Magisterium. He’s not even a bishop (had you quoted one, you’d have more substance). Again, show me where does it explicitly say it is demonic and self-damning to swear? :rolleyes:

I’ve known priests to accuse Harry Potter of being demonic with the same zeal as Jack Chick. Am I to believe them? Priests can be just as opinionated and have been known to have radically different stances (some of them even contrary to Church teaching).

I’ll go to them for advice but that doesn’t mean I won’t get a second opinion if I wanted to.

Though I never watched it, I would surmise that ‘Brokeback Mountain’ was a waste of time & money… anybody out there actually see it?

I don’t know. I kinda liked Jumanji. Zathura had an interesting concept too. I actually wish the author of both stories made more magic board game tales like that. 😛

“Spy Kids 2” – The first one was fun to watch, but the second was an insult to watch (but then again, I was pretty much tricked into seeing it, so I might be a bit biased). Definite case of sequelitis there.
 
First Movie that Came to Mind was Water World !! Second was THE FITH ELEMENT ! CACCOON, I Must agree Titanic Star Trek the Motion Picture!
 
I could never get into the following movies so I don’t know if they are bad or good. I would either end up falling asleep or doing something more productive:

-There’s something about Mary

-A clockwork Orange
  • Lara Croft: Tombraider I & II
-Beowulf

-First Knight

-Eyes wide shut

-Waterworld

-The 5th element

-Collateral (tried to watch this on an 18 hour bus trip)

The following are my “Do not ever watch again” list:

-Step Brothers

-My super ex-girlfriend

-Zoolander

-Things we lost in the fire

-Burn after reading

-Joe Dirt

-Dogma

-The Da Vinci Code

There are others but I can’t remember the title probably not worth remembering (ha ha) 😃

I thought this one was hilarious. Had the perfect ending and endings in films are something which I loath if they are left open to the audience so I especially appreciated this one. Mm-hmm.

Ohh man…probably Twilight (yes, the stupid vampire novel). No offense to fans. But it was the worst. Movie. EVER. It was just poor;y directed, boring, the dialogue and facial expressions were laughable, and there was very little good acting. It was…very, very bad. :sad_yes:

I like Vampires very much i like the Story i like the history i like the darkness of it. Twilight was herm Garbage and disgracefull to the Vampire Mythology. Its essence of the Vampire Culture was Humanized << yes i say Human as if it was a slur to vampire exsitence >>

… dull surprise… even in the trailers it looked like something destined for MST3K.
 
Tom hanks in “Joe vs The Volcano”. The only movie I ever walked out on after plunking down my five bucks. (It’s been a while!)
