I don’t hate Trump as I’m a long believer in “hate the sin, not the sinner”,
That is you, though. Not the media. The media has a whole different outlook. They hate the person, mostly because of what he has done for the pro life cause.
Trump has repeatedly said and done is even causing many Republicans to actually leave the party
That is a possibility but that too works both ways. How many Democrats will be leaving that party after the New York recent ruling on infanticide. People were leaving that party already, even before New York.

Do you seriously believe that what you wrote to be truthful?
So, President Trump is definitely not the poster boy for the pro-life movement. He may not even really be pro-life in his thinking and only using it to promote himself or he may have truly changed the way he thinks and has come to value the life of the unborn. I don’t know. I don’t really see it but no one knows but God.

The point is at present he is “pro-life friendly” and the left is not. We saw that recently with New York and then Virginia.

The left’s main agenda is abortion, though they word it under women’s healthcare and yes the left and the main stream media that stands on that side, feel a lot of anger and hate toward President Trump. It would not have mattered which republican candidate won the presidency, if they stood against the agenda of the left, they would be treated exactly as President Trump is being treated. We saw a little of this under President George W Bush.

Are there other issues, yes, but abortion is the main issue, same sex marriage is close behind and there is a lot of anger on the left.

If there are people leaving they seem to be being well-compensated for by others joining.
Looks pretty up and down to me and there are quite a few, even more, independents, (which is what I am), so you kind of have to question some of the actual party affiliation statistics. Plus independent doesn’t necessarily mean in the middle, or between the two parties.

If more and more people do continue to move left, and support that agenda that was recently applauded in New York, it just shows and increase rejection of God.

Again there is no suggestion of net departure.
It still looks pretty up and down and the statistics still show variation and ups and downs in political party.

Personally, as a Catholic, I think we should find the statistics troubling and not be happy or proud that so many Catholics are following that party. I come from a family of Democratic Catholics who almost all left that party with in the last 20 years. For what that party stands for and what was seen recently in New York, all Catholics should be leaving.

Where is this headed is frightening. Don’t you see it?

What or who could influence a large group of people to believe that murdering unborn human beings is such a vitally important goal?

Yes, it is rejection of God. There is no way to reconcile support for abortion on demand with faith in Jesus Christ.

The problem is the “big C” Church has been pushing to de-emphasize opposing abortion as a pro-life issue in favor of climate change, immigration, and other “social justice” issues. I would go so far as to predict that within my lifetime (another quarter century or so), to combat climate change, supporting abortion and euthanasia will become the official “pro-life” issues of the Catholic Church. You saw that in the Phillips/Sandmann encounter where prominent priests were more concerned with criticizing the youth’s MAGA hat because it seems to say that abortion is the only pro-life issue when other things, like climate change are more important.

I am not sure to whom you might be attributing feelings of happiness or pride.
My interest that we have a proper understanding of the facts.

Do you think abortion just “happens,” with no conscious decision or planning for it to happen? Does abortion always occur spontaneously, with no effort being made for it to happen?

“Goal: the end toward which effort is directed.”
Merriam -Websters Dictionary

Abortion is murder. I’m not going to engage in semantic hair splitting here with anyone who denies that it is, in fact, murder.

The reason I ask is because while I agree that Trump is hated by the media, the majority of Americans, me included, it’s not because of what he has done for the pro life cause, it’s because of these:
While I will agree with you that these things are horrible and President Trump can be just pretty crude at times, similar to what you list happens or has happened on the left also. I could pretty much bet that if President Trump was pro-abortion, you would never hear about any of these things from the leftist media.

I don’t care what President Trump’s political motives for protecting the unborn may or may not be. If he speaks and / or acts to protect them, he is doing God’s work and to that I’ll simply say, Deo gratias!

“Goal: the end toward which effort is directed.”
That is good.
it differentiates those procuring or performing an abortion, from the many people lumped together with them on this thread, who are not procuring or performing an abortion.

Whether or not they procure or perform an abortion those who support it, whether they are politicians or voters, are supporting murder.

He called Mexicans, “drug dealers, criminals, rapists.”
He really called all Mexicans “drug dealers, criminals, and rapists”? All 50 million of them? Or did he just refer to those Mexicans engaging in the illegal drug trade and in sex trafficking, including that of minors?
He said, he can just grab women by their private parts.
He probably can. As Harvey Weinstein, Les Moonves, Matt Lauer, etc demonstrated, being a powerful member of the entertainment industry allows men to get away with a lot of bad behavior.
He said there are good people in the white supremacy, kkk, nazi
Was he referring to members of the KKK and Nazi Party, or to average people who object to the removal of monuments to Confederate war heroes? Or is it your opinion that anybody who doesn’t want to see Washington and Lee College renamed is a member of one or both of the organizations.
He called Haiti, El Salvador and unspecified African nations as s**thole countries
He was reported to have done so by an anonymous source, but that’s the only evidence that he did so. And considering the ratio of people who are trying to immigrate from Haiti, El Salvador, etc. to the people who are trying to immigrate to those countries, if Trump did actually say that, he’s probably not alone in that opinion.
He refused to release his taxes. What’s he hiding?
So? I’m not going to release my tax returns either…does that mean I’m hiding something? What about you? I haven’t seen your tax returns. What are you hiding?
he separates the Christian migrant children from their families.
That is the law. Is the President not supposed to enforce the laws you don’t like?

those who support it
I think that there is a fundamental difference between opposing proscription by the government and “support”. For example, I think it fair to say that no one here “supports” adultery or fornication. At the same time I think that very few, if any, think that government should act to proscribe them.

what Trump has repeatedly said and done is even causing many Republicans to actually leave the party or disassociate themselves from him
They said the very same thing about Reagan, and it was true. Before Reagan there was a sizeable liberal element to the Repub party; the “Rockefeller Republicans” they were called. Reagan virtually drove them out of the party and there are now hardly any left.

Over the years, it has become interesting. The Repubs are about where the Dems were shortly before REagan, and the Dems are similar to “Rockefeller Repubs” of old.

Some poster or other referred to the “never Trump” Repubs as “Cruise Conservatives” (no, not “Cruz” but “Cruise”) the kind who used to read TAS in their cabins on the cruises where they would listen to famous mainline Repubs at the five (or is it seven?) course dinners on board. Interesting epithet, and kind of amusing.

Might be a similar phenomenon.
