And I can’t figure out why people don’t accept the authority of the Catholic Church when it is so clear to me. But I have accepted that God has to bring His understanding to us in His time, not mine. I can’t make anyone believe what I want, I can only try to present the truth and hope they come to understaning.
I have felt this way so many times w/various people… The answer, i feel, is that non-Catholics (& some Catholics) don’t know Church history - and/or the Scriptures very well (although many THINK they do). Also, as i am sure u know, ego enters into the picture. No one wants to admit he/she was raised in and/or still attends the “wrong” church…
Also, personality comes into play. I realized a long time ago that i don’t have the “right” personality for certain kinds of evangelization. I always end up getting hostility directed at me. Of course, that isn’t entirely MY fault… But anyway, i have to evangelize even if no one accepts it. I have brought a few people into the Church in my life, though not lately… but how many people u directly bring into the Church is not the isuse - it is telling people about the faith regardless of response that is important… We plant the seeds, God waters…
I always keep in mind the scripture about how it is difficult to get into Heaven, that (JEsus said) “the road to eternal life is narrow & there r few who find it”… I mean, that just seems to explain a lot of things…
Life is CHOICE every step of the way… & some people make the choice for Jesus and some make the choice for SELF… Most of us do both… (human nature…).
Anyway, just thoght i’d let you know i feel your pain… God bless your efforts… 🙂

I don’t remember when the last time I said that, but yeah I kinda get the feeling I am just not going to make it.
Reasons:Gone back to drinking the devils brew.
Have not stopped smoking.
Familiy is in turmoil and that brings me down daily.
Can’t seem to keep the Sabbath (Saturday) no matter
what I do.
And TONS of other unmentionables.
I can’t even get to church like I wanted to because of my mother and the things she has told people in the past.
I wanted to go to another church in a different town but my car is broke down and I am still sick and out of work.
Just totally depressed.
Goitalone,
I have good news… we are saved by grace, not by the things you mentioned! Really though… remember, stopping an addiction is a process, not an overnight thing… try to cut down by one cigarette a day or even a week if that is what it takes, but remember it is a process and God knows what we go through and the struggles we endure…

I am sorry about your family… can I make one suggestion, say a simple prayer each day for them… "

“Beloved and most loved Virgin who unties Knots, I ask your kind intercession–to pray for me to our Lord. He is the giver of all good things and all the treasures that I need. I ask you to illumine me and give me the light of your Love. Indicate the road I should follow at this time of discontent. Help me find the path that will make me progress and succeed so that I can resolve the difficulties that encompass me at this moment. I ask that all my efforts be guided by you toward the correct road. Amen.”"

Now… if she is in heaven as we believe, then all your doing is asking for her intercession or help… nothing wrong with asking for another Christians help… If she is dead as you believe, then it still does not hurt to talk out loud to something that doesn’t exist. But try it…

As far as drinking, it can be very dangerous, but I enjoy a beer now and then or a glass of wine, the key is moderation… if you drink, limit yourself to one or two beers, and then stop…

Finally, the Sabbath… I say this in friendship… dont be a slave to the law. This kind of frusteration is exactly what Christ came to free us from… it is why the apostles compared the Old Covenant given at sinai (i.e. the 10) with slavery… it is a yoke of bondage.

Finally… church… I am sorry that you dont feel you can go to church in your local area, may I suggest the Catholic Church? Even if you dont go to participate in the worship, they are often open for prayer and meditations… sit through a mass some time, and notice the emphasis on Christ and peace, it will bring you peace… I promise.

Your friend,
Brandon

Or even the nearest 24-hour- adoration chapel. Just to go sit and pray…
The peace there is just amazing (In my opinion)

I find myself driving to the one up the street sometimes…
It’s nice just to have a quiet respectful place to pray.

What do you think?

Goitalone-
My heart breaks for you. Please realize that God knows His children are not perfect! What He wants is for us to seek Him with a sincere heart, willing to do anything for His glory, and when we seek Him with a sincere heart, we will find Him! Pray, Pray, Pray, and never stop praying until you find this peace. If you have found that you cannot find peace in your situation, consider that perhaps it is because you are not** where God wants you to be. Perhaps SDA is not** the true way to Christ. I will keep you in my prayers!! :console: :blessyou:

These are special devices packed with an explosion device if not found to have logged into church with yer shiney new Sunday Law Card on Sunday mornings to worship the Pope and Mary and Satan!

I just scared myself!!!
i am wondering why u r a “senior member” at this forum if u r not Catholic or a wannabe or whatever. Do you just come here to mess w/ our heads or something??
If so, that would be proof 2 me (should such proof be needed) that u r probably not even close to being a good (true) Christian…(though you may fit into the category of wannabe ??). Who knows? God knows… but the Scriptures do tell us that we are known by our fruits. In any case, to me, u r just another of the many (very many) who do not understand the Catholic faith and apparently do not WANT to… 😦

Or something. I think goitalone is here to ‘rescue’ us from the ‘Whore of Babylon.’

Again if I want to learn what Catholicism teaches then I go to THEIR web-pages. example: usccb.org/catechism/text/

Just like if I want to learn what Adventist teaches I go to THEIR web-pages. example: adventist.org/

Would you listen or take to heart the things that ex-adventist have to say about your religion? Would you say the ex-adventist paint a TRUE picture of your religion?

If you answer NO then why should understand why I do NOT take the time to listen to what ex-catholics have to say about Catholicism I, personally believe that ex-catholics paint a FALSE picture of Catholicism.

Thanks and God Bless
Hey - u r being 2 polite!! Ex-Catholics are the worst. Did u know Hitler was an “ex-Catholic”?? I’m sorry if this sounds extremist, but i can’t help but think of Uzzah who (probably unintentionally) mishandled the ARk of the Covenant and died. The Church is the New Ark because it holds Jesus Christ 24/7. Touch it improperly and… well, i wouldn’t want to be you… :ehh: li

I am wondering if a lot of Protestants don’t come here just to try to convert us poor, misguided fools (controlled like puppets by the Pope… I mean Anti-Christ)… :ouch:
They ought to read Scott Hahn’s story. If anyone was anti-Catholic, it was him… and there are others…
My experience in the Catholic Church has not always been a walk in the park… not even. But @ least now I am closer to God and do not commit mortal sins like i used to… My venial ones sometimes FEEL 😦 like mortal ones, but i guess that just shows that i @ least know what holiness is… If a person is a little “scrupulous”, it is only because he/she knows something about God. You can’t be aware of God’s perfect holiness (and your own lack thereof) if you are not near Him… So it kind of proves u r near him when you are overly concenred about your sinfulness…
…Even so, we must trust in HIs goodness & not our own…
🙂

 This is the first time I that I have heard of the church being the “Ark of the Covenant”… Do you have references that refer the CHURCH as the “Ark of the Covenant”??

I’ve seen and read plenty that refers to MARY being the NEW Ark of the Covenant.
Example: Mary, the Ark of the New Covenant

I’ve seen and read plenty that refers to the CHURCH as the BRIDE of Christ.
Example: Second Ecumenical Council of Nicaea (787)

I was one to get the National Sunday Law book in the mail, and it was labeled “Resident”.

Mine said "Ninety Second Printing - 2006"
"29.8 million in print"

Looks like they are trying to get to everybody that is living, a copy of this book.

My heart goes out to you, I will pray for you. I will pray also that you come to realize the true church. If you were Catholic you could go to confession and have your sins forgiven, and speak to the priest who could council you in how to make progress in turning from these sins that torment you so.

Christ knew that we need more than recognizing our sin and asking for forgiveness. Some times we need help in forgiving our selves and or council to move forward and away from sin. Thats why He instituted the Sacraments and his Catholic Church.

You are going to make it.

You were brought here for a reason - just perhaps not the reason you thought.

We are going to keep you in our prayers and thoughts, and you will see, before you know it what the plan is. It unfolds, man proposes, God disposes.

I was unemployed for a month (including my 30th birthday!) and have been without a car (which is managable given my proximity to the downtown area I know work in and the bus routes, and co-workers that pass by…) for three months.

So I know what it is like.

And I smoke too. Not something I am proud of, but the words of an old Hungarian chain-smoking nun who taught Latin at my college comes to mind: “Better to schmoke in this life than to schmoke in the next!” (Imagine ZsaZsa Gabor saying it, and you will get the idea.) Quitting is on the agenda for this year, but don’t be too hard on yourself for that.

And beverage alcohol (which gladdens the heart of man) certainly can be a good thing. I share with Chesterton a predilection for a good brew. But PLEASE be careful - to give into wonton abuse of beverage alcohol is objectively sinful AND will worsen depression and despair. As a friend of mine used to say, “A little wine can warm the heart, a lot of whiskey can melt it.” If you think you have a problem with it, please consider AA or some similar support group. If you are truly depressed, this might be a good time to forgo.

Hang in there. I am going to keep you in my prayers tonight. Please do the same for me.

LOL, I was just looking through my forum members and I saw a VERY familiar email (you’ll know who you are) that I just today read and realized that I was totally the joke of !

I just don’t know exactly why you chose the name SAHM!

Dear Charles,

I am sorry you are feeling depressed. Habits like smoking and drinking (whether it is alchohol, caffeine, or any other beverage) are very hard to change. I do not know your background, but making true lasting change on anything takes time. It is natural to slip up, that is why we ask God for forgiveness and mercy and turn to him for reconcilliation. God forgives us, and we need to forgive ourselves, no matter how many times it takes. So please do not give up on yourself.

As you know, Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament in the New Testament, and liberated Christians from laws that were burdensome and almost impossible to keep. Christians have not changed Gods old laws, but they became fulfilled, and the laws of Jewish people no longer applied to Christians. (Dietary laws for example). We have the Sabbath, whether you celebrate it on Saturday or Sunday (as the Lords Day) to not only rest our bodies, but more importantly to give honor and glory to God. But this process is a work in progress. Each day we strive to do a little better. Do your best to honor the Lord and to grow closer to him on the Sabbath, and on each day, and God will be pleased.

Even if you do not “believe in the saints” I encourage you to study their lives as role models. Many saints battled depression and feared they did not love God enough. You are not alone in feeling this way. In fact, it is impossible for us to love God “enough.”

I hope you will be able to find a church you feel comfortable in. No matter what your Mom may have told your congregation, you have a right to worship there, and Adventists, as Christians, should treat you with love and and respect in God`s house. As you know, the Christian Church is not the building, but the people. If they do not treat you in a Christian way, you are right to seek out a church where its members better emulate Christ and what he taught.

With God you are not alone, so you will make it. And you are not alone, because we at CAF are here. We will all keep you in our prayers. Even though some Adventists may not consider Catholics to be Christian, we still consider you our brother in Christ.

Sincerely,

Maria1212
Thanks for the kind words Maria…the world could use more loving comments and concern as you have provided here.

Thank you very much and blessings to you as well. 🙂

Thanks you too sda2rc…you’ve been very nice to me too even when I didn’t deserve it.

I appreciate it!

Thanks SH, I appreciate the kind words as well.

For me it is where I need to be, but I realize also that Satan has been putting things into my mind about how I think people in this particular church might think and I need to ask the Lord to help me get past that so I can go because of Jesus and not worry about people and what they think…for me it’s been a long hard battle…but I am seeing somethings last couple days that seem to be showing me to resist these thoughts and get myself back into the house of the Lord on the day I believe I should be there.

God’s blessings to you…thank you!

I am still wondering why so many Catholics are in the non-Catholic area of this forum…when I first posted here I didn’t even think there would be too many Catholics would be in here, but I guess I am missing something still.

I just thought it was for other religions to post.

Or something. I think goitalone is here to ‘rescue’ us from the ‘Whore of Babylon.’
I came here origianlly to tell whoever came in here what I sincerely believe to be the truth God wants us all to see.

Nothing more!
