Having to stand without a mediator is from the Great Controversy:

“Those who are living upon the earth when the intercession of Christ shall cease in the sanctuary above are to stand in the sight of a holy God without a mediator” The Great Controversy, p. 425

egwtext.whiteestate.org/gc/gc24.html

Straight from the White Estate website… The “official” EGW site, which maintains a “close” relationship with the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.

whiteestate.org/about/estate.asp

As you can see, this isn’t a second hand reference or an unofficial site.

Actually,
It was not just standing without a mediator at the Judgment that I was scared of… but I always worried about the withdrawal of the Holy Spirit during the end times. How were Christians to go through the SDA end times scenario with the comforter? wow!

I remember thinking when I was about 10 that God was going to come in about 2000… so I wanted to have a 10 year old boy by that time so that he was capable to stand up for God like I was… so I thought that I needed to have a child when I was 16 in order to do this.

Luckily it was a passing thought… haha… but it just reminds me of how I looked at the world as a child because of Adventism. Dont get me wrong… I loved it… and still love my Adventist family and old church members… But it does skew your thinking.

Gabriel of 12;3956111:
News flash…the Catholic church didn’t write the Bible! Putting it together has little to do with what it says. Putting it together was GOD’s will…not the Catholic church’s; they were just used…it doesn’t give them authority over it. That same high level of pride is where sin started to begin with!

Please tell me what I’ve misinterpreted…please.
All the authors of the New Testament were Catholic. But you are right… God did use HIS church to assemble the Complete Bible… just as he used HIS Church in the Old Testament to assemble that part of the Bible.

I am glad you realize this!

The Spirit of Prophecy is an identifying mark of God’s true church (Revelations 19:10). Ellen G. White had it but that does not mean I’m going to deify her as you perhaps would if she were a Catholic. She was a human being, subject to fallacy the same way as any other human walking the planet today is.
haha… your Spirit of Prophecy… oh yes…

Tell me Bible Truth… If I can prove that EGW contradicted the Bible… will you leave take a full year of RCIA Classes?

How much faith do you have in your Spirit of Prophecy that is supposed to lead you through the end times?

BTW… the Spirit of Prophecy is the Holy Spirit… God. To claim that it is a woman on earth is BLASPHEMY!

Ellen White does not give the Gift of Prophecy… It is a gift of only God, through the Holy Spirit.

I just pray and believe that there are others who’ve read and will read in silence and may, by the power of the Holy Spirit, feel the truth burning deep inside of them, calling them to serve God and follow Jesus in truth as it is written in God’s Word and not base their theology in the writings of any man (or woman).
BibleTruth,
I believe that most , if not all, of those who are silently reading with open hearts would be able to see quite clearly how you have been proven wrong time and time again… and you either stop responding or ignore it.
  1. We have proven that the Ten Commandments were the Covenant.
2.We have proven the Covenant has been done away with.
3.We have proven that scripture never says that Mary had sex… Therefore to believe that she did is to assume a belief rather than prove it from scripture.
4.We have shown that there is sin without the law.
5.We have explained that we do not worship Idols
6.We have shown that scripture must be interpreted soundly in harmony with Christ’s body in order to be useful.
7.We have exposed your misunderstanding of Jesus’ Commandments and how you insert 10 Commandments into texts with no Basis just so you can support your belief.
8.We have shown that contrary to what Adventism teaches, that there is was only one LAW, not two.
Your unwillingness or inability to see the truth is very apparent to those reading this forum. However, with that said… we are very glad you are here!!!

No… you follow your private interpretation of the Bible… which is what we are told not do to!

The Bible is not a leader, you cannot follow it and it does not speak.
That is a good point SDA2RC. The Bible, while it is the written record of God’s interactions and relationships with humans, and whose writings are inspired by God, the Bible is after all an inanimate object consisting of paper and ink, which is made by the hands of people. Following previous logic posted by some, would that make the Bible a “graven image”? And because of the supreme value placed upon it and it alone, would that be considered the worship of something made by the hands of man?

Of course we know the answer to those rhetorical questions. It is good to know where things fit into God’s plan. The sacred scripture is vitally important…as well as the sacred work and traditions passed on as referenced in the Bible itself, and written about throughout the history of the Church these past 2000 years. All of which testify to the Word of God made flesh in the person of Jesus Christ!

God bless all!!

feel the truth burning deep inside of them,
Like the burning in the bosom of Mormonism?

'F-e-e-l-i-n-g-s" are an unreliable source of truth. Even a new age pagan hippie sitting on a rock in the desert might f-e-e-e-e-e-l God’s presence.

Only one way to know who holds the truth: Holding the Holy Catholic Faith.

BibleTruth,
Do you even REALIZE that your church is the one that teaches something different than the gospel of the Bible?

The “19th century understanding” of the Bible that you have learned is totally out of line with the beliefs of the Apostles and earliest Christians!
  • The Bible does not teach that man is on his own to find the truth and that the Bible is the final authority. Adventism does!
  • The Bible does not teach to distain the authority of the Church that Christ founded. Adventism does!
  • The Bible teaches to obey your church leaders and submit your false understandings to them… Adventism Doesn’t!
  • The Bible teaches that the Church can bind truth on heaven and on Earth. Adventism doesn’t.
  • The Bible teaches that death is a separation, not a cessation of existence. Adventism doesn’t.
    • The Bible Does not teach a re-creation of people at the second coming… it teaches a resurrection. Adventism teaches re-creation and not resurrection!
    • The Bible teaches that Gods Justice is real and hell is real. Adventism Doesn’t!
  • The Bible tells us that we all Christians are one in Christ and united through Him! Adventism doesn’t
  • The Bible teaches us to pray without ceasing. Adventism would tell us that to obey the Bible is vain repetition.
    • Catholicism teaches that prayers to God and saints are useful and good. Adventism teaches that prayers to God are vain repetition.
  • The Bible commands us to not worship anything other than God. Adventism bows down and worships her elders during the Garden of Prayer.
  • The Bible teaches us to not call any man “Father”. Adventism teaches its children a song called “Father Abraham”!
  • The Bible teaches that Christians are no longer subject to the Old Covenant if they embrace Christ. Adventism embraces the law rather than Christ!
  • The Bible Teaches that Christ is God… Adventism Doesnt… Adventism teaches that it is Michael… an angel!
  • The Bible teaches us about God’s people through the Ages. Adventism tries to turn people against God’s people and calls Christ’s Body the Beast and Anti-Christ.
Tell me…who teaches a different gospel than the one the Bible AUTHORS wrote? It’s certainly not Catholics we follow the Bible as it is written.

Exactly! BibleTruth is doing exactly like the pagans of old… taking an inanimate object and claiming to follow it!

We are commanded to Follow Christ… Not an inanimate object! We learn about Christ through his Word… which includes the Bible, but also His Body both in Tradition and Magisterium.

Great list, there.

I totally remember the teaching that Michael became the only begotton Son of God!! How sad that such a teaching is spread. I honestly wonder what St. Michael thinks of it? He’s probably not too enthused.

St. Michael the Archangel
Defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil,
may God rebuke him, we humbly pray.
And do thou, oh prince of the heavenly host
by the power of God
cast into hell satan
and all of the evil spirits
who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.

The story about how that prayer came to be is awesome.
Patrick M:
Praying the Rosary is praying the Gospel…it is a wonderful experience!! Of course a person need to understand it.
Too true, too true. I recall a text from Holy Scripture, “Study and show yourself approved.” How can anyone truly understand this great, great gift unless we study hard?

I follow the Bible…period. I don’t know how many times I have to say it. Yes, I fellowship with Seventh-day Adventists and I’m an active member of my church. Anyone that knows me knows I follow Christ and use the Bible as my written guide.
No, you follow Ellen White’s interpetations of the bible as your guide. Much of what you believe and have posted here is not in the bible at all, but are extrapolated from bible texts and mixed with the new-age revelations of Ellen White. You have just been following her for so long that you now imagine that the bible says what she taught that it says. When you read the bible, your mind automatically fills in the teachings of Ellen White and you think it is really there in the text.

The fact that no legitimate bible scholars of any affiliation agree with SDA interpretations should be a clue…

Friends weather or not you believe it or I believe it, does not change the Truth, sunday law will be passed (world wide), read the news link below. You may read this and think light of it,this is subtle and gradual. Know this is coming to the U.S. Why is it people are being forced to close on the first day of the week? God has not blessed the first day of the week and made it holy. Jesus said “He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.” Matthew 12:30
And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. Revelation 12:17

Jesus Christ is the Creator of all things, in the heart of the Ten Commandments is the one commandment that beings with “Remember,” its the one commandment where it identifies who made it;

Croatian shops will have to be closed on Sundays as of Jan. 1 in concession to Catholic church
By Associated Press
4:02 AM EDT, July 15, 2008

ZAGREB, Croatia (AP) _ The Croatian parliament has passed a law forcing shops to close on Sundays in a concession to the Roman Catholic church. The church has campaigned for years for Sundays to be devoted to family or Mass in Croatia, which is almost 90 percent Roman Catholic. But Croatians have begun spending weekends in shopping malls that have flourished across the country in the past few years and remain open seven days a week.
The law adopted Tuesday and goes into effect Jan. 1. It allows Sunday shopping over the summer and Christmas holidays.
The law also allows stores in gas, bus and train stations to open on Sundays year-round, along with those in hospitals. Bakeries, newsstands and flower shops are also exempt from the ban.

God bless and keep us all, amen.

How silly. Croatia is 87.7% Catholic and 4.4% Orthodox. There have always been “blue laws” to close unnecessary businesses on Sunday in predominantly Catholic areas. I grew up in Massachusetts where blue laws were in effect. This is in order to keep the Lord’s Day (Sunday for Christians) holy.

Notice that the blue laws do not keep anyone from worshiping on Saturday, nor do they force anyone to worship on Sunday. Those are the prophecies of the Sunday Law promulgated by the SDAs. So obviously the blue laws in Croatia has nothing to do with fulfillment of the EGW “prophecies”.

More Adventist deception…

A reasonable law in a country that is 90% Catholic. I looked it up and 5% are orthodox, and less than 1% are other christian.

It seems Croatia is a democracy with an elected parliament and prime minister.

Adventist prophecy interpretations predict a coercive “Sunday Law” that will restrict the rights of saturday sabbath keepers and levy fines and jail and (eventually) death on those keeping saturday instead of sunday.

Nothing in this report is telling sabbatarian shopkeepers that they MUST be open on saturday and violate their beliefs. No one is being persecuted for keeping the sabbath.

Civil laws guaranteeing time on Sunday for family and worship serve a common good. There are reasonable exceptions and it appears that Croatia is a democracy and capable of deciding for themselves what laws they want.

People forget sometimes, that those who earn hourly wages and live closer to the bottom of the income scale often do not have choice and control of their work schedules, if they would like to continue having money to pay their bills. When I was in graduate school in the south, local laws about closing the malls and department stores on Sunday were repealed. So of course, all of them began opening, the managers fearing they would not be able keep up with their competition if they did not. My roomate, who was in our Sunday morning choir, something she loved, was scheduled for work Sunday mornings. Nothing she said could sway her manager. Being a part time student who would obviously move on to a better job in a few months, she was lowest on the totem pole at work. So we lost our choir member and she wasn’t able to go to mass Sunday mornings as she financially needed to keep working to finish school. Quite a few low income people had to change their church going habits to staff the businesses that began to stay open on Sunday. It was interesting for me to observe, since I was Catholic at that time, but was a former SDA. Sunday shopping at the mall was a novel convenience for the non-church going people, and the tiny handful of Adventists. Many people though, accustomed to spending Sundays with their family in church activities, found themselves choosing between church attendance or keeping their incomes. Our culture reveres “choice”. What is often forgotten that not all people have the power and resources to have real choice when their livelihoods are threatened. As this was in the so called “buckle of the bible belt” , it wasn’t the senior staff and management pulling Sunday morning duty. (I am not debating choice/personal responsibility/nannystate issues here, just pointing out that some people are vulnerable to significant economic coercion.)

Legislating time for family and worship preserves that option for those who otherwise might not have it.

Adventists love to point to historical laws guaranteeing that serfs and later industrial workers had the right to a rest day as some kind of vindication of their beliefs.

They forget (or ignore) history. Serfs, servants and low paid workers had no rights. Guaranteeing one rest day and time to assemble for mass was a work of social justice, not a power struggle over what day of the week to observe the sabbath. If the Church did not require Sunday rest, millions would have had none at all.

The 40 hour work week is a modern novelty. The “weekend” didn’t exist 150 years ago. It is to me an interesting point of history that Christian sabbath keeping groups did not grow in numbers until the establishment of a 5 day work week became widespread.

Limiting Sunday businesses actually frees many workers to worship or NOT worship as they choose, but either way, have a day free of work obligations.

Personally, a respite from the 24/7 commerce would be a blessing, imho.

Yup, sounds good to me. Unfortunately, America is hell bent (literally) on squeezing as much money as possible out of each and every day that I don’t ever see it happening. =(

Friends weather or not you believe it or I believe it, does not change the Truth, sunday law will be passed (world wide), read the news link below.
SDA propaganda seemingly forgets 1,000 or so years during the middle ages, when the entire Church East & West observed Sunday. Now, how can any supposed coming “Sunday Law” be more than what already was? It has been in recent times since the Renaissance/Reformation that Sunday - and Christianity as a whole - has been lessened.
You may read this and think light of it,this is subtle and gradual. Know this is coming to the U.S. Why is it people are being forced to close on the first day of the week?
As already mentioned, Blue Laws were once very common in the US. They are now disappearing, if not already gone. How can it get “worse” than it was?

I will continue to follow the Bible as stated numerous times; it’s the only book that has stood up to the test of time and rebuttal.

Correction, The Catholic church was before the bible, the Catholic church put the books of the bible together for you and me, and the bible and the Catholic church have withstood the test of time. This is an historical fact;

John 5;39
You search 14 the scriptures, because you think you have eternal life through them; even they testify on my behalf.
40
But you do not want to come to me to have life.

John 6;54
Whoever eats 19 my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day.
55
For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.
56
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.
57
Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me.
58
This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever."

To possess the full deposit of faith, you have to have the Word of God (The bible the Catholic church gave us) and the body of Jesus (Catholic church), with the original teachings and Traditions of the apostles. If you lack any one of these you do not have the full deposit of faith (Truth) in your community.

Peace

does this group, play off the catholics somehow.the reason why i ask, is because i found a website claiming to be a catholic one by biblestudy.com i think.saying theirs proof that michael is jesus.by their studies. someone needs to get on it.
