Surely you recognize that even literally everyone were being as frugal as possible, there is some number at which there simply isn’t enough to go around. Maybe that number is well in the future, but you have to at least recognize that natural resources aren’t infinite. If the worlds population were 100 billion, all of us switching to low flow toilets and taking shorter showers isn’t going to do the trick.
 
Those countries are also highly agrarian. Children are one way to get more hands on the farm for work.

If you look at other Muslim nations like Indonesia and Iran, the fertility rates are more like the rest of the world. In fact, Catholic Philippines has a higher fertility rate than Muslim Indonesia and Malaysia.

There are more factors at play here than just religion.
 
And surely you realize that God has said that this world is temporary. He says it will end, and in its place new heaven and new earth will be created in its place. If there were a danger of running out while everyone was purposely working towards living out His will, I have absolutely no doubt He would intervene. It was His plan from the beginning.
 
Again, we are far from overpopulation. The world’s population will peak at 11 to 12 billion in 2100, which is still well below the danger zone and couple that with advances in technology (why do we always discount it?), things aren’t going to be dire.
Not only that, places like Niger have high fertility rates because many girls are married off at 12, often to friends of their fathers! The rate for child marriage (under 18) in Niger is 76%! Discouraging child marriage will lower it without using dishonest and fear mongering overpopulation propaganda.

I just don’t agree that God commanded us to multiply past the point of prudence. If I say “go plant some crops. I want my fields full of produce come harvesting time” there’s an implied instruction to plant as many as the field can safely support, not try to jam so many seeds in the ground that the soil can’t support them.

Or to take another example, let’s say someone said “fill this bag with sand. I want this bag full of sand.” It’s implied that he doesn’t want you to try to put so much in that the bag bursts, even though he didn’t explicitly tel you to stop.

It could be. But people do not or may not want to pay the price to do so. At least in southern California the voters have rejected a water bond in the last election. And already in some areas of southern California there is water rationing in place.
 
You are free to believe whatever you want. But do you believe Jesus when He says,

Find a true apparition site, bring your own silver rosary, not wooden or plastic, with your belief as witness on holy days to see yourself it turns to golden rosary. It is a traditional custom of Catholic pilgrims passing on many centuries you need to know when visiting apparition sites.

Need to have the gift of vision from the Holy Spirit to see by yourself and understand the spiritual life before coming to any conclusion by your logical and physical scientific perception. God has the Science of God.

Yes the population is growing. That does not prove overpopulation. There are many articles and books written about the myth of overpopulation and why it truly is a myth. You are free to look them up
 
I would think a direct teaching from Jesus should be taken quite literally, but that doesn’t contradict that abparent is responsible for the feeding and raising of children. It is very possible to trust Jesus and His words about not worrying while not just sitting idly by waiting for it to fall into your lap.

Not “could be”.

It is.

Water does not disappear.

Water evaporates and then reappears as rain, which you collect.

If you are in the desert, you can harvest moisture from the environment.

I, personally, harvest rain and store it.

I worked in the Sahara Desert and people harvest rain there as well.

[They are hampered by local dictators.]

Or, as they do in some places in California the people employ desalination.

You hire an engineer and he or she will figure out how to access more natural resources.
 
I don’t think that’s it.

Women have been putting off marriage & having kids for one for career & education. By the time they get serious about marriage & family the ideal time to have kids has passed. I think that many assume they can have it all & have kids after 35, but when that time comes, they realize only too late that their time has passed.

Women have adopted the use of contraception to delay onset of pregnancy, but in so doing, sometimes they mess with their fertility.

Women have undergone abortions in the US, & that, too, can affect fertility, along with any sexually transmitted diseases.
 
Of course I believe Jesus. I also believe him when he commands prudence and planning. See Luke 14:28. The verse you cited seems to me to be a command not to let worried blind you to Gods presence in the moment, not a command to act irresponsibly contrary to the reason God gave us.

The Bible also commands us not to overtax the land (see Leviticus 25:4) and such a command would be nonsensical if it wasn’t possible to overuse our resources.

If your eye causes you to sin, poke it out and get rid of it .
And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away.
Do you take these literally?

The two verses are not incompatible.

Babies aren’t a sign of irresponsibility. Wasting water is. There is a difference between responsibly using resources and wasting them. That is the point I am trying to make. Everyone is so caught up in the overpopulation belief that they choose not to see how the majority of resources are being gobbled up and wasted by a small percentage of individuals. Those individuals are the ones pushing their agenda that we are going to run out of water, oil, whatever soon but what are they doing to curb their waste? It’s the greed of a few individuals while blaming the families of the rest, and they make many others believe it’s true.

It is good to prudently plan out how we will use what God has given us. Wasting and them passing the blame to others is not prudently planning. It is selfish.
