Okay. All I can do is try to inform and learn.
In this case, I hope you have learned.Okay. All I can do is try to inform and learn.![]()
Oh, I always learn, sometimes just not what the other person thinks I should. In this case, I hope you have learned.![]()
Amen!Oh, I always learn, sometimes just not what the other person thinks I should.
I checked your public profile and I see that you are Catholic. Have you read “Jesus Christ the Bearer of the Water of Life?”
That document tells me that Holy Mother the Church sees danger in many “New Age” practices. I don’t know about you, but I always listen to my Mother.![]()

And here is something from the protestants:
In essence, Reiki is an occult technique designed to influence and/or manipulate patients through the use of unadvertised or undiscerned spiritistic energy.
In Reiki we discover the same problem illustrated in Therapeutic Touch and related forms of spiritistic/psychic healing. The practice appears innocent and many people assume it “can’t hurt.” Further, “Since Reiki doesn’t interfere with conventional medical treatment in any way, nurses can use it in the hospital to comfort the sick and control pain.” But the manipulation of occult energies is anything but harmless. It may easily produce serious emotional and spiritual problems. For this reason alone Reiki should be avoided.
Yep.Occult?
Sounds sort of like sublimination of sexual energy for spiritual purposes. Isn’t that what celibates (priests, nuns, monks, etc.) are supposed to do?Yep.
Tantra has its origin in tantric yoga, in which sexual “energy” is manipulated for a variety of purposes " from seeking a magical union of lovers to attaining “union” with God or with the “Supreme Self”
Are you saying that Reiki Masters who practice tantric magic, are in reality, celibate Christian priests, monks, and nuns who do it for the sake of the kingdom of heaven?Sounds sort of like sublimination of sexual energy for spiritual purposes. This alleged source of Reiki sounds like a lot of “hooey” to me. However, even if there is any truth to what you quoted, I assure you any connection between Reiki and “group sex” has long since passed. It is purely a alternative healing methodology, plain and simple.Yep.
Neither “healing” nor “energy,” Reiki is actually a form of Tantric magic studied by Usui during a prolonged Buddhist retreat and fast during which time he reportedly studied Buddhist Tantric texts.
Tantra has its origin in tantric yoga, in which sexual “energy” is manipulated for a variety of purposes " from seeking a magical union of lovers to attaining “union” with God or with the “Supreme Self” (from TANTRIC BUDDHISM IN INDIA). Tantric yoga involves secret practices and ceremonial rituals including group sex. Lovers visualize each other as “manifestations” of the male or female aspect of God and attempt to achieve ecstasy and a melding together of souls with (red tantra) or without (white tantra) physical union.

**Do you want some really powerful healing power? Receive the sacraments of the Church–especially confession and the Eucharist, and pray often.**
Yep.Ever heard of laying on of hands in the bible?!
Yep.I believe Jesus and the apostles healed in this fashion all the time.
The Church. But if you are a dissenter I suppose you could buy into any new-age mumbo-jumbo that pleases you.Who’s to say Reiki isn’t some minor form of the methodology they used?
I’m saying that (1) tantra, as it is meant to be practiced, is based on the re-direction of one’s energy (which would include sexual energy) towards spiritual practice and discipline, and (2) many people misuse tantra, using it solely for the purpose of selfish sexual pleasure. Are you saying that Reiki Masters who practice tantric magic, are in reality, celibate Christian priests, monks, and nuns who do it for the sake of the kingdom of heaven?
“Not all men can accept this precept, but only those to whom it is given. . . . There are those who have made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. He who is able to receive this let him receive it” (Matt. 19:11–12).
By what authority or with what surce do you make this judgement? Or is it merely your opinion? This alleged source of Reiki sounds like a lot of “hooey” to me.
How does the Church know anything about Reikki?Yep.
Yep.

Ah the liberal dissenters you gotta…never mind.Ah, the close-minded, you gotta love them!
Thats my opinion about that alleged origin of Reiki. My wife is a Reiki Master, so I know something about this healing technique, although I’m certainly no expert. There is nothing evil about it whatsoever. The purpose of it is too heal and provide well-being; there is no sexual connection to it.By what authority or with what surce do you make this judgement? Or is it merely your opinion?
Well my friend, due to my ignorance on the subject of buddhism, I cannot address these issues with clarity–I’m sure others can. However if you and Mike and others here would like to participate in Reiki treatments, I am surely not the one to prevent you from doing so. Good luck.then, from a Buddhist perspective,
