New inquisition?

Unless you have personally interviewed everyone going up to Communion, you have no idea about either point, and unless you are a priest in the confessional, you have no idea if a person’s sins are mortal or not.

This whole argument of you and the other poster is coming from a viewpoint that the practicing Catholics at Mass going to Communion are mostly a bunch of terrible sinners who shouldn’t be allowed to be there. You apparently do not include yourself in this group. Can you not see the assumptions and judgments you are making?

Yet in the same breath you want more people to go to Mass. Why would you want that if people are as immoral as the pictures you paint? I should think you’d be clapping your hands that everybody is staying away so Jesus can just die for the dozen or so people who in your view are holy enough to merit Him.

Because there is only one weekly confession at my church. It lasts half an hour. Any yet, when it comes to Sunday, there is only ever 1 or 2 people who do not receive communion. There is definitely a disparity here. For one, you have just admitted to it.

I respect your views.

But I’d gently recommend abandoning the practice of counting how many that go up and do/do not receive communion.
 
No counting involved.

If you literally see every single person go up and a scattered few remain seated, theres no counting or math involved.

It’s an objective empirical observation.
 
I don’t count. I just look and see that there is no one sitting down.
 
So what should we do about this? This is my suggestion. “Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup.” 1 Corinthians 11:28

This statement is dripping with heresy. The Eucharist is only to be received by people who are in a state of sanctifying grace.

People ARE sinners. This is the entire basis of Christianity.

And yes, you have to be holy to receive the Eucharist. Not by our own work, but by the grace of our Lord who has allowed us to be so.

Saw that coming 24,000 miles away as soon as I read the original post.

And some here that I read posts from years gone by claim, that if vote you for a Democrat, you are in a state of Mortal Sin. Good luck getting the Bishops to actually putting something out like that in a firm, descriptive, and explicit document.

What the Church needs is better leadership. From the pope on down to the local pastor.
 
He is saying that communion is not only for holy people.
He is implying that men are not inclined towards sin.
 
Which can only be achieved by removing heretical church leaders through an inquisition.
