New inquisition?

Part of the issue here is Inquisition is a loaded term.

Should we bring back every facet of the Inquisition like torturing people, jailing them, handing them to civil authorities to be brutally executed? I think most sane people would give you a resounding NO.

But should we bring back the Inquisition, as in should we set up a panel of renowned Orthodox Cardinals like Burke, Sarah, Arinze, OMalley as well as highly orthodox scholars like Curtis Mitch, Bishop Barron, Scott Hahn, Karl Keating, etc etc. to go around and inquire about reports of heresy being taught by Bishops and Priests? And to either correct or condemn or excommunicate as needed?

So which is it?

When I take, I’m not paying attention to other people. And if I just happened to notice someone sitting down or standing up or doing anything at all, I don’t try to draw conclusions on the next-to-no information that I presently have.

How could I?
 
Don’t pick out one off the cuff video he made as a judgment of his character.

He has literally done so much for this Church it’s impossible to list without writing a book. He’s created thousands of hours of catechetical material, both written, audio, and video.

You’re misusing that text.

Applying it as a judgment on the character or Orthodoxy of a Bishop of the Church is wrong, especially in this case.

Bishop Barron is an orthodox Catholic Bishop in good standing with the Church, he has never been convicted or even accused of teaching heresy or being heretical. It is slanderous to drag a good Bishops name through the mud because you were scandalized by one of his videos. I am sorry you were, but writing to Bishop Barron or to his Ordinary Archbishop Jose Gomez is the correct way to settle your grievance.

Please cease from any further slander of Gods Bishop and take the advice I gave you.

It’s not a trifling matter; if he actually believes that all men are likely saved, then that strikes right at the heart of what Christianity is about.
 
It would probably just scare people off.

It’s.better to hold public Rosaries for the gift of faith to those people.

Only about 16% go to Mass in my country. A Priest recently described us as remnant Catholics.

Is it 61% of the 20 % mass attending Catholics that support abortion, or 61% of the entire catholic population. .
 
Of the entire Catholic population, which is slightly better I suppose…

If it’s the entire population of Catholics in UK, Then you cannot extrapolate it’s rampant in the 20 or 27% mass going population.
 
I don’t think an inquisition of lay Catholics would be useful or effective, but I think an inquisition of the clergy might be a good idea. There are many priests, bishops, etc., that are questionable in their orthodoxy, and they do great spiritual harm to the faithful by spreading falsehoods and heterodox opinions. Especially in today’s world where communication is instantaneous with social media, blogs, and the Internet in general.
 
In the world of sports the jerseys of notable athletes are retired. Similarly, the names of major hurricanes are no longer used.

The names of certain events can suffer the same fate. Inquisition, is one of those names. The Spanish Inquisition, was a period in Catholic, and Earth’s history all would rather forget. Innocent people were tortured and burnt at the stake. While Prodistants did their fair share of murdering, this period of time is often thrown in our faces during hostile arguments.

For these reasons and more, the noun and indeed verb, Inquisition should forever be left in history books.
 
I suggest you research the history of the inquisition. 95% of the history surrounding it is a myth. This is largely a result of the black legend - the historic dislike of the Spanish people.
