Not always “disagree” sometimes just pointing out downright eggregious and foul commentary.
Cmatt is a person whose almost always friendly, regardless of what anyone says he comes back with posts that I disagree with majorly but I also respect because he’s consistent.

I’d never said anything if you were the same way.

Thanks!

I’ll take that as a compliment.

I try to use as little honey as possible, can’t stand it when people sugarcoat things. 👍
And wait a minute- you’re not listed as Catholic either. … . . . If you are indeed Catholic why not list it. If you aren’t then you certainly seem interested in the propagation of the Faith.

No I’m not. My religious fight is a long drawn out battle between me and myself in which I have to be careful not to create unwanted casualties around me. Hard to explain.

But I love the Catholic faith and once this battle is over with I hope I can join the Church.

In all fairness, the Catholic Church’s Gay problem has cost plenty, both in terms of dollars in lawsuits, as well as weak faith souls lost.
Although they both involve homosexuality they are completely different problems. The Episcopalian problem of mutable and false doctrines is far worse than any problem in the Church.

Thomas Beckett had a bit of fire in his belly when it came to politics but I bet his priestly ministry was characterized by gentleness.

John Paul was vociferous in his barrage against Communism but serene and loving in his Papal ministry.

I believe the examples of different approaches in different realms would be countless among the most holy, and while I am not among the Holy, I will take pride in following their example.

Thanks for sharing. Searching for faith is hard for everyone and Christ loves you for your struggle. Holding onto faith can be difficult as well. I pray that all goes well in your journey. I pray that Mary shelter you under her mantle.

Thank you. 😉

RCIA classes are forming this time of year. You might want to chat with the parish near you.
I have talked with them. They are very nice people. The local priest passed away last year, I heard he was a very smart man who knew the Catechism very well. I am sad that I didn’t start RCIA when he was still around.

I’ve got to get myself right, lots of skeletons in the closet I guess. I need to be careful about my family as well, they aren’t anti-Catholic, they are just misinformed.

My half-sister is the same way. She is Church of Christ (I think?) and even though she is a spiritual person she seems to think that Catholics come from another planet or something.

It’s really weird that the Church that “started it all” is seen by so many to be a weird and alien version of Christianity. They think that low church evangelism is “normal” Christianity. 🤷

Don’t worry about your family. If they love you, they will be happy to see you embrace Christ. I’m the only Catholic in my family, as I was raised in a relativistic, agnostic family. One brother is an evangelical and the other is atheist. We all love each other very much.

Are you denying that Jesus used vinegar when confronted with inaccuracy and mistruth?
I’m not Jesus. Jesus walked on water and I can’t do that. And I won’t speak definitively for Ringil. But I think perhaps Ringil’s point about honey and vinegar might have had more to do with His recipe’s amounts of the sweetness of love vs the sour taste of vinegar. And I believe there is to be far more cups of the former than the latter. Peace.

Okay, so you have wafers and wine. 👍
I know the point you are trying to make is you believe Gamewell’s church does not have the Blessed Sacrament of Holy Eucharist per Catholic beliefs. And of course per those beliefs you would be correct. But he was correcting 1holycatholic who said, “They have crackers and grape juice”. And I’m guessing Gamewell probably also believes differently than you and 1holycatholic about the valid Eucharist part of the equation.

🙂 Thank you bbarrick. I do try and it’s nice to know you see that. Although I confess “almost always” applies. I shall take your words as a compliment. Peace to you my brother along your journey.

I have a feeling that God will bring good out of this and drive more Episcopalians to cross the Tiber and become Catholic.

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and shrewd in their own sight! Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine, and valiant men in mixing strong drink, who acquit the guilty for a bribe, and deprive the innocent of his right!
(Isaiah 5:20-23 RSV)

Yes, that is what is at stake here.
