So does Madonna and JayZee. Their endorsements will probably carry more weight.

You mean days after a major disaster hits NYC, Bloomberg finally endorses Obama. Wow he cut that close since the election is days away, almost missed his chance.

Things that make you go hmmmmmm

In a surprise announcement, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg said Thursday that Hurricane Sandy had reshaped his thinking about the presidential campaign and that as a result he was endorsing President Obama.

Mr. Bloomberg, a political independent in his third term leading New York City, has been sharply critical of both Mr. Obama, a Democrat, and Mitt Romney, the president’s Republican rival, saying that both men have failed to candidly confront the problems afflicting the nation. But he said he had decided over the past several days that Mr. Obama was the best candidate to tackle the global climate change that the mayor believes contributed to the violent storm, which took the lives of at least 38 New Yorkers and caused billions of dollars in damage.

“The devastation that Hurricane Sandy brought to New York City and much of the Northeast — in lost lives, lost homes and lost business — brought the stakes of next Tuesday’s presidential election into sharp relief,” Mr. Bloomberg wrote in an op-ed article for Bloomberg View.

“Our climate is changing,” he wrote. “And while the increase in extreme weather we have experienced in New York City and around the world may or may not be the result of it, the risk that it may be — given the devastation it is wreaking — should be enough to compel all elected leaders to take immediate action.”

November surprise!

“We need leadership from the White House, and over the past four years, President Barack Obama has taken major steps to reduce our carbon consumption,” Bloomberg wrote in an online opinion piece, citing higher fuel-efficiency standards for vehicles and stricter controls on mercury emissions.
Yes, by raising gas prices, blocking the keystone pipeline and putting a freeze on drilling permits. Just the “leadership” we need

He is an independent former Republican…it certainly cannot hurt the Preaident.

John

This is a game changer, it has changed the state of the race and it now looks like Obama is a show in. How can Romney/Ryan hope to win after Bloomberg has endorsed Obama? Now NY looks like it will go for Obama

One sees climate change as an urgent problem that threatens our planet; one does not. I want our president to place scientific evidence and risk management above electoral politics
I think voters will be persuaded by this. Millions of individuals and families sit at the kitchen table concerned about climate change

This is a game changer, now looks like Obama is a shoe in. How can Romney/Ryan hope to win after this endorsement? Now NY looks like it will go for Obama

This is going to be all over the media for the next 24 hours at least. Talk about an “October Surprise” - Hurricane Sandy has certainly had an impact.

Yesterday, the news was all about Chris Christie singing Obama’s praises and whether Bloomberg was dissing the president for not wanting him to visit New York. Wow, what a difference a day makes!

Bloomberg & Christie, 2016!

Americans want to keep what natural beauty we have intact and are not impressed by “Drill Baby Drill!”

Nobody cares a whit about Bloomberg outside of the NE.

Well, not really true–most people really don’t like him for his “I’ll count your calories for no apparent reason” shtick.

Also, I’m certain that Romney/Ryan will be running for re-election in 2016.🙂

In the universe where I live, New York was already going for Obama. Nate Silver has the odds at 100%. The game change is with independents across the nation. They admire Bloomberg and this will have a huge impact.

The Koch brothers must be really bummed right now.
