Actually, it IS a response to John24’s remark about alleged “disproportionate use of police violence against people of color”. There is no actual disproportionate use of police violence against people of color. It is a lie perpetuated by people with a political interest in fomenting trouble and avoiding real solutions.
Disproportionate does not mean what your statement in post #232 addresses. Disproportionate means that the fraction of the black population that experiences police violence is greater than the fraction of the white population that experiences police violence. That statistic has nothing to do with other kinds of violence, like incidence of violence by citizens of your own race.

My college aged daughter loves to go thrifting, has furnished her apartment with second hand furniture for next to nothing $$-wise.

You’re asserting that not only is there “no actual disproportionate use of police violence against people of color,” but that anyone claiming anything to the contrary is a liar who must have “a political interest in fomenting trouble.”
About half of police officers are minorities themselves.

Even the infamous Harvard study that claimed police officers are not more likely to shoot people of color than white people (a conclusion pointed out by many statisticians to be faulty) found that police disproportionately use other types of force against people of color.

My problem is BLM is basically based on a falsehood and some of what Colin says sounds very much like it is out of Communist Castroite Cuba, that female DJ influenced him a lot but now, Kaepernick is going to benefit from good ol’ Capitalism, I think he’s misguided.

Many of them have also been accused of brutality to those of color. Most of the police accused in the Freddie Gray case were African-American. And it goes both ways. I once defended an African-American cop killer who killed an African-American cop.

If BLM is based on a falsehood, you should be able to present hard evidence of that claim.

And, really, the claim that this is “Castroite” Communism calls out for further explanation.

So black lives don’t matter?

BTW, you might check out an article in “America” magazine (Jesuit) in an August edition that counters the above. Whether you’re aware of it or not, there is and always has been discrimination against minorities in this country that also includes our policing and prosecutorial systems.

While I understand the issues with police and minorities, I am not a fan of the BLM movement.
All lives matter.
And the main thing the BLM folks did in my town was lay in the downtown streets at rush hour, putting all sorts of lives at risk. Ambulances couldn’t get through, for example.

Principles matter, protest movements often go down a very misguided path.

Of course, when it’s called “Black Lives Matter”, you get told if you disagree with it, you’re a racist.
Just like, if you didn’t vote for Obama, you were racist.
Not buying any of it.
