This. Total nudity used to be legal in Berkeley (although it was forbidden by university rules on the UC campus), provided there were no lewd* acts* in public. I’m surprised to hear they ever got that outlawed. They occasionally had “nude ins”, but for the most part people have some sense of conforming to the prevailing sense of modesty, such as it is.I can’t get that worked up about this.
It’s been legal for ages here in New York City. Nobody does it, except for a few women in body paint in Times Square trying to hustle money from the tourists.
I think there’s a beach out in Rockaway or Jamaica Bay or somewhere where people are permitted to go naked.
Otherwise, it just doesn’t happen.
In other words, a tempest in a teapot.
Whatever the case, it is kind of silly for the rest of the country to get very worked up about what they allow in Berkeley. Even Oakland doesn’t worry about what they allow in Berkeley. It is on a different planet.
